Choose an avatar and the matching character card. Then choose 5 grunts and 7 specialists. This will be your starting deck. The better cards will be purchased while playing. Initially they go into the discard, but the deck will run out and then you shuffle up and eventually you start seeing the new stuff.
I agree the rulebook is trash. Try one of the longer videos on YT for better instructions. After a play or two it will make sense how to organize the cards in the box to make set up easier, as well as creating your own scenarios etc.
Right. All the "choices" are so obvious. I bought the expansion because I heard the first player that dies gets to play as the alien queen, but her cards are even more basic.
I like the marvel legendary. It has a ton of expansions, i only bought those that i want. Each play through is so much more vast than aliens or preds. I have yet to merge the 2 decks to make an AVP scenario.
