Uncontrolled systems always evolve toward more stable states-that is, toward more uniform energy distribution (e.g., water flows downhill, objects hotter than their surrounding environment cool down).
Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We offer quizzes, questions, instructional videos, and articles on a range of academic subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, economics, finance, grammar, preschool learning, and more. We provide teachers with tools and data so they can help their students develop the skills, habits, and mindsets for success in school and beyond. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages, and 15 million people around the globe learn on Khan Academy every month. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we would love your help!

Thank you for making videos for absolutely free for all these years! Helps us a ton.
Wait until you get into the fun topics of heat transfer we had to deal with in engineering school. Ha, ha, ha!
4:15 heat does not always tranfer from the hotter to the colder object. There is a very tiny chance (the bigger the object and the longer the time the smaller the chance) that it goes the other way around and the cooler object actually heats the hot object for a second, it's just very very unlikely since a pizza slice is already pretty big compared to the quantum world.
And by that logic 5:27 heat can even transfer when the temperature is the same I think
Is it true for microscopic level????
@Edvard Baumgartner Watch TED-Ed's video on entropy and you'll understand as well
Heat is the average energy so no I don't think it's possible to be transfered from cold to hot
But specific atoms can since the average doesn't really mean there aren't any particles of a higher energy level than the other hotter object
So useful information
It deserve hundreds of likes❤
This is sooo nice!
Epic content!
