2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2020
- Kawasaki Versys 1000 comes with the same inline-four engine, but features a big update in the electronics segment: electronic suspension, riding modes, IMU, cornering ABS. We took it for a ride on the most beautiful road in Romania to see how it rides.

Miss this guy so much. All my researches for choices were really helped by him RIP man. You were king at what you did.
What? Did this guy died? When and why?
@@tazzicek yeah, last summer, he was riding a BMW in rain in romania, one lane, and he slipped. If i got real information. He was such a good reviewer..
Sad to hear that Cristian is no longer with us but his excellent reviews live on. I am about to take delivery of a used 2019 model SE and then ride it home from 2000kms away so watching his great review has me filled with anticipation. My past riding experience has been extensive with many more powerful bikes in my history but I’m more concerned with long distance riding comfort than ultimate power these days!
Thanks to the UA-cam we can now see a great motorcycle “show” made by a some guys in Romania 👍
Isn't the internet great/terrifying?
R.I.P. Cristian Predoi ! You'll be dearly missed
Very saddened to hear... Such a delightful person. RIP
😢😢@@Thirsty_Fox
One of the best... miss you buddy
Horses for Courses we say in England. It is not a sports bike !! Or they would have used the ZX10 or H2 engine. And believe it or not most of us don't try to ride like we are on a race track-I did that when I was 20-if you do ,you won't live very long or you will say goodbye to your license (fact).Good, Reliable, comfortable all round bike
The quality of your videos keeps growing, they are very good. Love your honesty and that you understand the bike you are reviewing. Thanks and Cheers!
Thank you for great honest review, there are not many reviewers that speak straight about all the negatives.
I came across here from the algorithm. I love the direct and fair review and really helped me understand the exact target market of this bike. Thanks!
This reviewer can be read barely from his physical communication giving quite realistic taste to this bike on 2D screen. Earlier I did was not so big fan for the DriveMag but this is just excellent! Thank you.
Finally ! Long time no upload and i miss you're UA-cam content
Great review. I love your honesty. Thumbs up!
He will always be with us thanks to these viedos. I can't believe...
Beautiful scenery, can’t imagine the feeling of riding a nice adventure bike through it.
Greetings from Brazil. Congratulations for the excellent video!
Congrats for one more great review!
Descansa en paz amigo del camino, nos veremos allá. RIP.
Very nice review,I'm a bigbike enthusiast. Watching here in Auckland,New Zealand. Ride safe God bless
Beautiful review 👍
Pedro sir ur English is very simple and easy to understand than any other reviewers♥️ plz come to India once.
So, it's not a sport tourer, it's a tourer. That's still a desirable motorcycle for many people.
It is a sport touring bike.
My last motorcycle was Kawasaki and I had decided to buy one but I finished with r1250rs. After 15 000 km I'm so happy with BMW. As always, the review and the video are great.
amazing machine and video... thank you
Beautiful scenery!
You guys go to dome amazing locations, keep it up chaps
R.I.P Cristian Predoi It was too sad and hurt to hear the news. My Condolence's to family and friends.
Excellent review beautiful scenery excellent information very nice machine
Great content as Always guys. Would love to know what kind of layers you're wearing under your kodiak jacket in that weather, just picked up the same coat and plan to do a lot of cold weather riding!
Another good review!
Nicely detailed video
Another good review! I had a Gen 1 Versys 1000 for 5 years before buying my Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere 2 years ago. I still miss my old Versys and yes, I would definitely buy another one. Oh, and yes, it is a sports tourer!
And what about the wobling in high speed? Is it really problem?
@@janbasek9579 i have Versys 2020
I like it but its bit wobbly over 180km/h
I reached over 200 but I cant maintain it i have no confidence
Its good till 160 km/h
Honest review, as always.
Beautiful country and bike!
Nice review and some great camera work 👍. Definitely not in the adventure category as you point out.
Thank you for an amazingly honest review. I have a 2002 R1 with 4 inch Apex riser clipons that makes more power than this bike. Your unbiased reporting is a breath of fresh air.
Very good videography!
competencia directa de la s1000xr ,, esta hermosa esa versys 1000.
And yes , it tucks very easily on gravel so one needs to be careful...the 17 inch wheels don't handle even the slightest off road conditions very well ...ive already taken 2 falls on patches of roads that were under construction with gravel layed out
Ouch. Are all versions of the Versys like that?
Oops that’s dangerous
A great review again as always... I am so jealous of the roads you have to play on... @threesixmoto
Good review.
I bought a 2014 one and I do feel the vibration too at 5000rpm,. Looks like the new-gen did not solve that problem. It's also a bit heavy and tall for me (5"7) but I got used to it finally (with passengers and full GT loaded cases). Still, I will lower it for the next season just to be more comfortable.
Other than that great bike!! Very comfortable, powerful enough for most of the thing, and passenger love the seat and position. I highly recommend it for people who like to chill or go on a road trip. It's a great and fun sport-tourer and I plan to keep it for a few years. For those who want to do communing only, the 650 might be a better choice.
You should try to ride gs adventure to feel the vibration.
Hello
I had the versys 1000 "2". A very good tourer and daily bike, with a great engine . BUT, too expensive. Every 6000 kms servicing for more than 300€. sold without regret.
I can't wait to see your next adventure !
Ive had the base model for a year now and am really enjoying it ...this is a keeper ...for the adventure bit, I may go for the ktm 790 but the comfort of the versys 1000 is unmatched if you want to munch miles all day long
Awesome 👏 thanks!
Very nice review! Please mention the protective jacket and clothing you are using along with the helmet .. what’s the brand names? Thanks
Any plans to review the Klim Kodiak jacket? Thanks and good reviews 👍
Nice video , nice bike too ...just needs a little more green .
Had one and everything you said is correct
Have you adjusted the high beams? I am not liking the illumination. It seems to me the low and hight beam are tied together so i can't raise the high bean without raising the low beam
Regarding safety at speed . . . If the suspension is wallowing or not stiff enough, will switching the preload/damping from just rider to either rider/passenger or rider/luggage firm things up enough?
I just bought the Versys X300 which is plenty for the roads of Mindanao. Nice bike but too heavy for off road I think. Thanks for sharing
Nice review
10/10 for the tft display, it was soo bright during the rides and im pretty sure it will be bright in the night
But i thought it was a let down when it was mentioned "quiet dangerous" at 180km/hr
Test ride. New tyres. They all settle after.
2021 has a new suspension system.
Hi
I wish there was no background.
But it was fun that day.
Greetings from Poland
Hi. Thanks for sharing this review 👍 The bike is awesome. Can you perhaps consider doing a review of the chinese bike CF Moto 650MT? I've heard some good things about it and it looks cost effective too. Maybe it's good as a beginner bike? 🙂
if you would have the choice between the African twin 2016 or the Versys wich one would you choose. I am at that cross road
Can you compare with Multistrada 950s? Which is better?
What a beautiful part of the world and thank you for another honest well rounded review. I took one for a test ride and didn’t like the handling and braking at spirited riding either.
I’m in the market for a new bike for 70% solo city community and 30% two-up day touring.
I currently enjoy riding a V-Strom 650, but it’s a bit under-braked with a passenger, and I’d also like a little more grunt and cruise control. I’ve got it down to three bikes that I think would suit my needs. Suzuki V-Strom 1050 XT, Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX and the BMW F900XR.
If you could only have one as an only bike, what would be your pick be? Or is there one I’m missing? Cheers from Sydney, Australia. 🍻
Yamaha Tracer 900, Honda NC750X, Ducati Multistrada 950, Yamaha Super Tenere, Honda Africa Twin, Yam Tenere 700, Moto Guzzi TT850.
oknevals I have ridden a few of these, but I’ll have to try to test ride some of the others you’ve suggested. Thanks
The "unstable" bit comes as a surprise. Have known a few versys riders who have got no complaints on even a 650. Did I miss the mention of torque in the review?
The previous version had smaller hand guards.
R1200GS,1290SDGT→VERSYS1000SE ? ? It was helpful because I was just thinking about whether to make the next bike VERSYS. If you increase the number of rev, the vibration will be the same. Thank you.
Looks a very nice bike but I think you will get more satisfaction on the new XR1000?Cheers.
When I tested it the vibrations in the seat felt too disturbing for me and from 5000rpm. I was looking to replace my Tracer 900 with a bigger sport-touring bike with better wind protection but still as sporty as my Tracer 900. This bike was very close to what I was looking for but the vibrations put me aside. And I think it needs a 5 cm longer swing arm. Beside this, a very very nice sport touring bike that is very happy to turn and lean. I ended up with a FJR1300
An FJR 1300 is a fantastic bike
The FJR1300 has better wind protection than the Tracer?
@@lovelessissimo yes sir! Much better. I had the touring screen on the Trace 900 and now the Puig toring screen on the FJR. In the upper part it is a big difference. It was a surprise for me to feel that I got a lot of wind on the legs on the FJR, up to the knees. I might install deflectors....
But the Kawasaki was very nice even for me at 6' 3" (190,5cm)
Lungu Gabriel triumph 1050 sport?
what are you thoughts on the concours 14?
Hi Friends!
Your jacket is the kodiac?
Thanks.
Same feelings I have for it without having riding it!
shout out idol from the philippines
Come to Georgia, there are very good places...
Nice
I have this motorcycle. Hand guards are responsible for unstability. When I removed them, the bike regained stability .
It needs wings!
INstability
Really?
Or is it unstable at high speeds?
Shame it doesn't come with a centre stand - can you get it as an option. If you got some decent tyres would that the front end behave better?
I own the 2019 Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE LT +, and it comes with a center stand. The center stand is very easy to use, because I don't need to put much effort to lift the bike up on its center stand. I owned a 2007 Yamaha FZ1, which also has a center stand, and that required more effort to lift it up. Despite the Versys being heavier, the Versys's center stand is simple and effortless to use.
It reminds me to Yamaha Tracer900 GT.. the specifications almost identical..only Tracer more lighter than the Versys
Birrrr snow and driving 😎. Not to Rain mode 🙂 put it to snow mode 😝😝
Like it, I’d consider buying if it were shaft drive.
that would make it even heavier :(
Awesome video. I'm purchasing my first bike and came across a 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 for less than a 650 with 17k miles. Do you think it is too much for a beginner? It's been about 15 years since I rode dirt bikes.
IMO yes, it’s too much bike where you are at, try the 650 first. This is a pretty serious bike.
It is not dagerous , get the 1000 cc, I had both the 650 and now the 2020 1000. Put it in rain mode until you get used to it
Set the Front Suspention on the Fork on the left Side. It will be better
do you think that bike is more confortable for duo than the BMW 850 gs adventure? thanks for the video
Looks like it is!!
that bike looks really nice, but a chain......?
Sorry but I have to disagree with the following points in this review - I'm the lucky owner of Versys 1000 2017 (the same engine and frame) -firstly, there's no vibrations at all, secondly it is not dangerous bike over 160km per hour! I really can't understand why it is felt that way. It's really great touring bike, confy agile with really very good engine with steady increase of power. Really I like the guys from this channel but I think that this points are blown away. Too little time on the bike I guess. You must ride this bike and than you will see for yourself, it is really great bike.
Great comfy riding position , seat hard as a rock. I wouldn't last 20 minuets on the stock seat. At least the new 2020 I looked at had a hard seat . Like sitting on a slab of blacktop
I own the 2019 Versys 1000 SE LT +, and the seat is super comfortable. I've owned '17 Yamaha R3, '05 Yamaha R6, and '07 Yamaha FZ1, and the stock seats for those were hard and uncomfortable.
Compared to my '19 Versys seat, it's plush and it doesn't cut off circulation to my legs. I rode my bike for 10 hours, stopped 3 times for gas/bathroom breaks, and my butt and lower back was not sore, compared to a supersport bike.
I'm 5'10" and with a 32" inseam, and I can plant the ball of my foot on the ground. Kawasaki does make a lower seat, but I like the stock seat.
Nobody else in the you tube community that tested the versys 1000 19' made a reference of wabling. I hope that either was some bad front tyre or something like that cause I really like this motorcycle !!!
Hand guards are responsible for instability. when I removed them, the bike regained stability
@@beddccom Glad that you found the ''problem''.
We don't need the guards here in Greece anyway.... 😂😂😂
Other reviewers have mentioned it, even discussed needing a steering damper
@@Max1200nz Could u please send me the video I want to watch it....
Hi. One month has passed and you did not release anything, which is unusual!! Hope all is fine at your end.
Nice bike that I struggle to understand, I really hoped for shaft drive and more leg room but it just felt too sporty and Kawasaki already has enough sport bikes.
When are new videos coming guys?
It’s still a chain drive, so you still have to lube the chain every few hundred miles. On a long turning trip it can get annoying.
r.i.p. dear friend....
wobbly at 160kph? This is aint worth for the money.
Nice video, I think the bike is a okay if you don't push it to hard. It's like a tour bike... There is nothing sporty about it, beside riding mode in the computer.
I wonder if this bike has electronically adjustable suspension
Yes it does. Can adjust thru your cells bluetooth.
Good videos..i know motorbikes and practice english....l like your pronunciación...where are you from...and how tall are you....thanks
In reality, isn’t the kiss-of-death given to the bike @ 4:48?
How can I get such bike,,,BMW,,,with at least 600+ cc,,,am in Africa in Tanzania?
Im 6ft tall, i like the riding position of this russian guy in which i maybe i get comfortable of this motorcycle..but maybe its more nicer if the get the DNA headlight from ZX14R,to make it more agressive looking.
OK, so don't ride the bike at more than 100 MPH on public roads- gotcha. Fun review, great scenery!
Go to Kopaonik Serbia to make some reviews 😎
Tyres look too small. Are they supposed to be like that?
Really tried to like one of these when I had one for the day, it's fine but not exciting when plodding along but I found the suspension far too bouncy in any mode when pushing on. It seemed to make over taking harder because the engine is flat in a lot of places and when I tried it two up the bike became a unstable mess with little front end feel, felt more like a boat pushing the front wide on corners and I kept bashing heads with my passenger because of the amount of dive. Good tourer but a bad sports tourer imo.
A few years ago 120bhp was a dream bike, and many riders are able to ride quite fast with 120bhp... and I actually like a bike to vibrate, let’s me know I’m alive, norok!
@threesixmoto
Mt09 next pls
Honestly I rather get a ninja 1000 or a concours 14 ., I feel like ti will be a lot more exciting and can do whatever this bike can do a bit better.
When you get older you will like the suspension to be less hard.
I don’t think this is a SPORT tourer but a Sport TOURER.
It’s on my list for anew bike ( if I win the lottery)
How about you pick yourself up a 1050 V Strom? I owned the very first year and it was very nice.
@@dangrimes5078 The Suzuky felt heavyer to me when standing still. Than, for my 6'3" the seat to foot peg distance was too short.
Dan Grimes that’s also on my list. I’ve had a V-storm 650, brilliant bike. If I’m able to buy another bike, I will test ride them all and pick one.
I thought the seat to pegs and also position of handlebars was very comfortable on the V Strom and I'm 6' 2". One thing about the V Strom it felt like a street bike off road. Not good at all. For me if I bought a bike it would definitely be an Africa twin. I love Honda's. I've had quite a few and they're great.
Dan Grimes I have a Honda CBF1000 sports tourer. Great bike but now I’m getting older I would like to sit a bit more upright. That means allroad bike. Oh shit, no money. Maybe I can find some handle bar risers for my Honda.
So this bike or the Tracer 900 GT?
And this is a question
