I saw them when they were touring with trivium. The venue was small, and there was only a few hundred people but the singer was still so nice and greatful we came. They so sounded great
I just found that out too! Turns out I live 90 miles from her old home in Grass Valley CA. It is a historical site. And there are two lakes and a mountain named after her in the Sierras. I'm hoping to hike them soon!
There’s the first “under-rated” comment on this videos comment thread. Every music video has either a “this song”, “this group”, “this guitar player”, is “under-rated… what exactly do you mean by this song is underrated? The song was #1 on the rock charts. The album went platinum. So what exactly is “underrated” about it? It seems to have been extremely successful but not successful enough for you?
Maybe it is underrated because the band did a superb job with this song. Emotions, Lyrics, all of this is great. We learn a lot about Lola. But who is she really?@@JD-bd5rd
For the most part, I have given up real Rock N Roll since the mid 80's. Since then, it has been the classic rock station. Volbeat has given me belief that true Rock N Roll still exists and is worth listening to! This old man has found a new love for some young ROCK!!!!!
I agree 100% heavy duty rock.. I love all songs..definitely can tell their parents were( or older friends)were headbangers. I don't know how old they r but pretty sure they r younger then me but whatever they jam n I love it
Poulsen's voice is a mixture of James Hetfield, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Pretty amazing combination nowadays in rock'n roll. And this is actually the greatest perfomance of Lola Montez ever. In the year of 2013, when Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies album came out. They played this song a little bit faster here and it sounds more awesome. Volbeat - great band. Amazing perfomance !
You're unfairly forgetting Cher mate ;)) I think major part of his voice reminds Elvis and Cher :) however, truly unique voice and the most surprising thing that he's vocalist of metal band :O
@@dancapnron1 As a devout Volbeat fan myself, I can understand why they'd have haters. A lot of their songs are formulaic / similar as they follow a lot of chord progressions and melodies. Also many will claim that Volbeat has leaned further from their hard rock roots and became more mainstream / radio friendly / softer. Comparing their newest album to their earliest stuff, this is definitely true. Lastly, Volbeat isn't a heavy metal band but is always finds itself in some line up at metal shows. They played at Knotfest with Behemoth, Gojira, and Slipknot; all actual metal bands and very different from Volbeat. When metal fans see a band like Volbeat in that lineup, they're likely not going to want them there (Volbeat got a lot of flack from the audience at those shows). Volbeat in my opinion belongs in the hard rock scene rather than the metal scene, and should be playing in lineups with other bands such as Foo Fighters, Staind, Godsmack, etc. and stay away from metal shows entirely.
@@Caine61 i agree that they are more Rock than Metal but volbeat has so many Songs that mix Genres that you cant put them in 1 genre so you have to decide from song to song :)
After hearing this song several times on 89x (Detroit market), I looked them up on iTunes, and ended up getting their last three albums. I love their sound, and it's a nice mix of several genres (Rock, metal, blues and even some country). Plus any band that can sound this good live deserves some attention. :)
This song is so catchy, I fell in love with Lola Montez the first time I heard it and it never gets old! I never heard a song and was instant in love with it! Lola Montez ❤ In addition, the life of this dancer is really interesting!
When I first heard this song at work in the motor city it pretty much blew me away. Asking people around the shop what band is this nobody seem to know. I did a Shazam and I’ve been a fan of volbeat ever since!!!!
Can't wait to see Volbeat in the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff 28th November 2016! So many rock fans still haven't discovered this great band, they're missing out big time! Diolch yn fawr Volbeat!
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The dead middle of the Canadian prairies and for some reason Volbeat actually likes coming to play here. They've been here once a year for the past three years. Even without their amazing music that alone is enough to make me love them
Volbeat is amazing live. I've seen them twice now. Once as a headliner with killswitch as an opener, and again as an opener for a7x and Metallica. Such amazing shows
I had never heard of this bend before I saw them open for A7X and Metallica in Detroit. They were one of the most electric act I have ever seen. I enjoyed every second of their set, and have been hooked on them ever since.
Eliza Rosanna Gilbert, Countess of Landsfeld (17 February 1821 -- 17 January 1861), better known by the stage name Lola Montez, was an Irish dancer and actress who became famous as a "Spanish dancer", courtesan and mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, who made her Countess of Landsfeld. A feature film Spider Dance (2011) focuses on the latter years of Lola's life and her time in Australia.
Just heard this song for the first time a couple months ago. Nothing prepared me for this band, I think I am obsessed! Every song I've heard from Volbeat I have loved. Wtf was I doing in life that I had never heard of them?
My brother told me like 4 years back to listen to these guys and I didn't. I just started listening to all their music. now I'm hooked. What an amazing band. need to see them live.

Saw them in Florida in 2014 (I think? Maybe 13). They put on a great show

Did you end up seeing them live? lol
I've been enjoying them a lot lately, and would love to see their show.
Sounds like Cher, lol
If only ALL bands played this well live...
I can only think of a few bands that are this good live

Queen was fucking awesome
Metallica were and Megadeth and Pantera.
Yea, they sound pretty damn great live eh!
I have just discovered this band/song. Listened to this for 50 times + now. Effing hell....
Thanks to Volbeat, I discovered that Lola Montez was a real person.
Several short videos here on YT cover her fascinating life.
That is why I say that He is writing amazingly intelligent songs and doing it in what is His second language!!!
