    Nick, in the swarm division you removed a handle from the donor box to the daughter box but instead of donating the whole handle with all its contents, you opted to remove the material with the use of a knife and put in an empty box new Here in Brazil we remove the handle from the mother box and donate to the daughter box with all the material included (pollen, honey, propolis, resin, wax and breeding discs). The procedure done in the way I reported abridges the handling without there being any honey spill avoiding predator attack. The following video showing how we do here: ua-cam.com/video/WiBhoi4LlYM/v-deo.html
    Take this experience and give me a return. Here we have 100% success with this method. Greetings from Brazil.

    Hi Nick with an eduction do you use an empty box with no prop or is it best to use prop to smother the new box and is it best to use only the bottom section until the new hive is established regards G

      Glen Rogerson it is best new empty hive with propolis. Brood can be added to speed the process. 👍🏻

    Hi Nick, I just want to know if you split your hive, is there any chances that the bees are going to leave their hive that has been split? Meaning like they're upset when you spilt them and they leave. . .

      If one size of your hive does not hatch a new queen they will slowly die out. Sometimes this appears like they have moved but it’s just the Bees slowly perishing.

    Hi nick, I'm just wondering what the diameter of the hole is in your separators?
    Thanks

    • @australiannativebee3662

      The smallest diameter I would use is 60mm if you want the brood to rip. The largest can be width of box in my new boxes it is 110mm. This allows full access to the brood for propagations. Ie you can remove brood if you need to search for queen cells. Plans to my hive on my blog 👍👍

      Josh Smith sorry for the late reply. Death in family. Have your found an option to propagate your bees?

    Hi Nick,
    Thank you for your Channel.
    Can all varieties of non sting bees live harmoniously(separately) in the one yard.
    Also I assume it is fine just to leave them and not process the honey, as in for a Native Garden for Land For Wildlife (regardless of the space /yard/property)
    Thanks
    Lisa

    looks like u already squash many bees

    • @australiannativebee3662
      @australiannativebee3662  7 років тому

      Some bees do get squashed you are correct. This is not my preferred or main method of making new colonies but I made the video so people can see how it is commonly done here in Australia.

      @Siggesatan eduction is 100% casualty free way of splitting.

    • @zacn4747
      @zacn4747 4 роки тому

      @Siggesatan Tetragonula or other native bees in general do not leave the hive to swarm like apis, it doesn't work like that. Also we don't need to treat natives since they don't have disease like apis. i feel like your confusing Australian native bees with European bees.

    • @zacn4747
      @zacn4747 4 роки тому

      @Siggesatan Tetragonula is the name. there has being a change. Also it we split native hives for our profit, they don't need splitting at all. they can go years without being touched. In the wild they don't swarm but rather the mother colony sends scouts to find anew location then after finding one she provisions the new location with resources over a period of months before the new virgin queen flies over. The mother still provides help to the new colony until its self-suffient. nothing like apis swarming at all.
