Lex Luthor, Braniac, Zod, Doomsday, Bizarro, and Cyborg Superman are in a room playing Poker and they all tell stories of how they almost defeated Superman, and when they get to Doomsday he says. "There I was held up on apocalypse when superman came nosing around. He was getting closer, closer! Lex interjects: And? Doomsday: and I threw a rock at him! *Silence* Doomsday: It was a big rock......and I may have at one point put him in a death like coma for a year. *Everyone turns to him with eyebrows raised* They all then proceed to ignore Doomsday thinking he is crazier than Bizarro.
The problem with this and other comics: The more they try to use science to explain things, the more it sounds like magic. I think Charles Darwin just rolled in his grave.
True... except Darwin isn't actually dead. Thanks to the collision of two parallel time fields, his conciousness was displaced and propelled into an artificial body in 2020.
(Around 32:33) For a second there I thought you were about to say it was Superman's Space Pod that knocked Doomsday's Box off course and eventually caused it to crash landed on Earth... Honestly I think that would have been a f**king amazing ret-con!
(Around 21:09) I think it's more like, "...We are getting a distress call from Apokolips, if they are calling Us for help... Then there's some serious s**t going down over there."
Still my favorite comic anything on youtube, BACK ISSUES !!!! You all also got me to buy all star shyauperman to see the rest of the 12 trials and it was great thank you
Superman u must be careful because the path u going down will lead u to apocalypse where u will meet ur doomsday because there's always a dark side to an apocalypse
I just want you guys to know that media wise #BackIssues is what I look forward to most in my week. That said, they do come out each and every week too! Even when you're crazy busy; either you plan ahead, or Tiffany picks up the ball and runs with it! You guys rock! Can't thank you enough :D
I think that Desaad send him there because he knew that he was defeated there before, Radiant was created with the energy extracted from the royal family, which were meta
Just two points. Desaad sent Doomsday there because he knew they stopped him before. Secondly the Radiant was a being created from the lifr energy of the ruling family who were all bssically metahumans and sacrificed themselves to save their home. The ultimate noble sacrifice.
37:33 Maybe that's because these illustrations were conceived before Dean Cain was cast as Superman. I found out while watching a TV talk show that Kevin (Hercules/Kull) Sorbo was on the "short list" for the part and HE sported a mullet in those days. These books are published months in advance of release after all...
with doomsday i really feel he should have been a monster of the week, kills superman and is never heard form again after that fact. by this point doomsday may just as well be invincible as there will be a point where nothing super man will do will work.
Just wanna say you guys are hilarious And I love your shows especially Back Issues which is my favorite! The Weekly Pull Trinity you Comicstorian and Comics Explained are my favorites and the people that got me into comics!
I want to get that comic to read..Superman/ Doomsday Hunter/ Prey...I really like the story and even though you may not like it it is awesome and I could see the guys though poking fun at it were interested as well. I enjoyed Kingdom Come as well with the older superheros. While the comics do mix fantasy and spiritism with their pseudo science it is still a interesting exploration of the stories and not just an adventure but goes further to explore the psychology of people...which is what I like most. The fantabulous tales sometimes have ancient roots.
The DC Editorial decision: Hey Jurgens, you got that title ready for your book? Yeah boss, it's all set. Damnit Jurgens, it needs more forward slashes pronto!
I still have the individual issues for this series. I actually read it again recently, and while it's definitely not good, it's ridiculous and 90's enough in all the right ways that I actually enjoyed myself. Favorite moment: When Cyborg Superman makes himself a gigantic body by absorbing tanks or some shit, and his tiny little head remains unchanged on the front. Also, Superman's costume in this... oh lord. I dare somebody to cosplay it. Thanks for another great episode!
I've always wondered how prehistoric Kryptonians survived such a harsh environment of their prehistoric world as portrayed in Hunter Prey. If they were immune than 'baby' could not be Kryptonian.
Hi guys! Love the show! Can you make a Back Issues about the Superman/Batman stories from Jeph Loeb? (that end up being animations - Public Enemies and Apocalypse) Keep up the good work!!
I hate to be that guy, but the reason Darkseid lost to Doomsday was another case of the writers not realising how powerful the New Gods are. Kirby's New Gods are actually giant for starters and are so powerful that Superman would be less than a fly to Darkseid.
Guys, it wasn't a coincidence that Desaad sent Doomsday to Calaton. He deliberately sent him to Calaton because he knew that it was the place where Doomsday lost. He was counting on the Radiant to beat him again.
Yes. They later retcon that before reaching Calaton, Doosday actually killed Darksied's friend, Mayhem, destroyed the Green Lanturn Core among other planets before being killed by the Radient. And the legend of this Doomsday monster survived through the ages. P.s - If ur wondering why Darksied doesnt remember hin in this books, its cause this is actually an avatar who is temporarily ruling Apokalyps in place of the actual darkied (obv cus the writers did'nt want actual Darkseid to look like a wuss who lost to Doomsday) For further info - www.reddit.com/r/respectthreads/comments/1y0gl1/respect_doomsday/
I really like this episode.lol Can't wait for the next video. Thanks once again Sal, for keeping it 100% real..😌 #Team ComicPop! Ben & Ethan Keep kicking ass..lol👊✊👍👍👍👍👍👍
I recommend you guys do a back issues on Gail Simone's Secret Six series, I prefer the pre-flashpoint series but that is more because I read that first, it's really interesting because it's very well written and lets lower tier characters shine.
Note: Desaad sent Doomsday to Caloton purposefully. he KNEW that the Radiant had defeated Doomsday in the past. The Calotonians put Doomsday into their ceremonial funeral garments after his defeat, the green suit that Doomsday was wearing on Earth during the Death of Superman.
They pretty much did what you suggest (the 4 replacement "Supermen" fighting different kinds of Doomsdays) in what was the final story pre-New52. It was awful. As for the confusion why Doomsday sees Superman as Bertron, those other human-looking scientists working with Bertron were Kryptonian. Back in the Byrne era Kryptonians were obsessed with tampering with their genetics, cloning, and whatnot, which is why they ended having a genetic link to their planet (an explanation as to why no one could escape the planet's destruction, except baby Kal-El), and then there was that whole thing with the Cleric and the Eradicator (the device, not the antihero). So, technically, Doomsday started off as a Kryptonian baby.
Do some Garth Ennis next since Preacher came out on AMC. Looks like they're doing the Meat Packing plant as season 1 so you won't spoil too much if you did Preacher. Or you could do Hitman who is incredibly awesome as well.
YES! YES and YES! Gosh, I just love Green Arrow. He's my all time favorite character, just not too fond of the new 52 version. I think Longbow Hunters should be something Sal does with his parents, I personally believe that story to be the Dark Knight Returns for Green Arrow.
CircuitBreaker I've read his 80-issue run, it's fantastic. Really defined the character in an interesting way, it was him, Meltzer, Denny O Neil and Smith that got the character right. Have you actually met the guy? 'Cause that sounds like you did, and it would be amazing if you did.
Yeah, for a brief moment at a con. He and Denny O Neil signed my books for free. Longbow, Hunters Moon, and GL/GA. On the other hand, Neal Adams is a major dick.
Pick it up here: amzn.to/1sNwxfK
the idea of Desaad contacting the league every so often just to moon them kills me and is now a part of my canon
*Silence*
Doomsday: It was a big rock......and I may have at one point put him in a death like coma for a year.
*Everyone turns to him with eyebrows raised*
They all then proceed to ignore Doomsday thinking he is crazier than Bizarro.
"Don't call me DoomSpawn, call me the Metropolis Monster."
"No, Doomsday, YOU'RE not wearing pants!"
"Wha--NNNOOOO!!! MY DOOMY PARTS ARE SHOWING!!!"
This was truly a tale of APOKOLYPTIC proportions.
So how did that go?
(Around 32:33) For a second there I thought you were about to say it was Superman's Space Pod that knocked Doomsday's Box off course and eventually caused it to crash landed on Earth... Honestly I think that would have been a f**king amazing ret-con!
One of my faves! Doomsday stomping Darkseid is too glorious. 10/10
(Around 21:09) I think it's more like, "...We are getting a distress call from Apokolips, if they are calling Us for help... Then there's some serious s**t going down over there."
" he runs so fast" lol
I laughed until I cried at the thought of Desaad mooning the Justice League. lol
40:12 "Was it a big rock?"
Good God! This was one of the funniest episodes of back issues! Had me laughing out loud in my office. Love you guys!
This has to be one of the best episodes you all have ever done! Great job!!!
Still my favorite comic anything on youtube, BACK ISSUES !!!!
You all also got me to buy all star shyauperman to see the rest of the 12 trials and it was great thank you
this is whole episode is Ben and Ethan making cooler suggestions than what actually happens in the story.
Superman u must be careful because the path u going down will lead u to apocalypse where u will meet ur doomsday because there's always a dark side to an apocalypse
I just want you guys to know that media wise #BackIssues is what I look forward to most in my week.

Even when you're crazy busy; either you plan ahead, or Tiffany picks up the ball and runs with it!
You guys rock! Can't thank you enough :D
+Gary Giannini Thank you, Gary! We try!
How dont you guys have so much more subs your vids are funny and interesting as hell, people are sleepin' on comicpop XD
I think that Desaad send him there because he knew that he was defeated there before, Radiant was created with the energy extracted from the royal family, which were meta
Error 404: Omega Sanction not found
The Radiant = Wonky Captain Planet
Just two points. Desaad sent Doomsday there because he knew they stopped him before. Secondly the Radiant was a being created from the lifr energy of the ruling family who were all bssically metahumans and sacrificed themselves to save their home. The ultimate noble sacrifice.
Sal: I don' like those stories, we're not gonna do those
Also Sal: WE'RE DOIN' ONE MORE DAY!!
Superman vs Doomsday, Round 2.....also the 2nd round of the vote for which book to follow up on Comicpop...how fitting.
I'm with Ben, should have sent Wolverine into the past and had him kill the scientist
wolverine is a fuckin bum
Sheeem T you're obviously an idiot if you think that
Nahh he's the best there is and what he does, but the terminator is the one who goes back in time for assassination
@@criscoistheman3025 The Terminator kills everything but it's target
Nah! Send Deathstroke.
when you zoom in you should do all three face reactions some times! love your stuff

What's funny Ben is that they did do a reign of doomsday storyline before the new 52. And there was a cyborg doomsday. Future back issues maybe?
Love how Ethan tried to add logic to this mess
Aw yiss, can't have an EPIC superhero story without a HEAD SOCK!
with doomsday i really feel he should have been a monster of the week, kills superman and is never heard form again after that fact. by this point doomsday may just as well be invincible as there will be a point where nothing super man will do will work.

I like you guys adding those short endings!
I have nothing clever to say.......so hi sal thank for back issues bro
+Amazing Zero I love this comment. It's how I feel about every ComicPop video I don't comment on! Lol!
"A young Doomsday, but he's hip and cool!"
That part cured my depression.
Sal..... How bout that batman odyssey?
I've always wondered how prehistoric Kryptonians survived such a harsh environment of their prehistoric world as portrayed in Hunter Prey. If they were immune than 'baby' could not be Kryptonian.

omg this is hilarious!!! keep up the great vids. i look forward 2 these all the time!
Guys, it wasn't a coincidence that Desaad sent Doomsday to Calaton. He deliberately sent him to Calaton because he knew that it was the place where Doomsday lost. He was counting on the Radiant to beat him again.
Oooh, that makes sense. But how did Desaad know about that? Is Doomsday a notorious villain in the galaxy?
Yes. They later retcon that before reaching Calaton, Doosday actually killed Darksied's friend, Mayhem, destroyed the Green Lanturn Core among other planets before being killed by the Radient. And the legend of this Doomsday monster survived through the ages.

+Neil Thomas Nice. I love when they retroactively try to make crappy stories make sense
Another great video ComicPOP!
I really like this episode.lol Can't wait for the next video. Thanks once again Sal, for keeping it 100% real..😌
#Team ComicPop!
Ben & Ethan Keep kicking ass..lol👊✊👍👍👍👍👍👍
+Freddy Zavala Thanks Freddy!
I recommend you guys do a back issues on Gail Simone's Secret Six series, I prefer the pre-flashpoint series but that is more because I read that first, it's really interesting because it's very well written and lets lower tier characters shine.
Awesome! You guys are really hitting your stride on these! More marvel please!
i love this channel so much thanks guys!
Darkseid vs doomsday: somewhere on new genesis Orion feels both denial of birthright and a craving for popcorn.
I challenge you to explain JLA: Created Equal.
3:30 Me: "How about offspring + Doomsday? Offday! Wait..."
Ehthans whoaaaaa after seeing supermans mother box battle armor was classic.
They pretty much did what you suggest (the 4 replacement "Supermen" fighting different kinds of Doomsdays) in what was the final story pre-New52. It was awful.

Are you guys gonna do some kind of special or something for Rebirth #1? It's fucking fantastic.
18:00 - 18:20 lmfao
3:25 He exists, his name is Doomsboy and he was in the storyline "World Without Young Justice" it was fucking bonkers
Quick shoutout for "Doomsdude", the kid Doomsday that'll never be.
You guys should do Harbinger or Bloodshot. Or even Archer and Armstrong.
what do you think Darkseid's contact pic is on the JLA phone? does he get his own ringtone?
Hey could you guys do Justice League New Frontier? In honor of Darwyn Cooke of course?
They've said they plan to in a previous video.
you should probably do Superman Doomed next!
keep the Superman/Doomsday back issues going
For some reason as a kid I always had a nightmare of Doomsday on that rock laughing as he came towards our earth. Yeah that scarred me mentally
Wasn't there a story where Doomsday became smart, idolized Superman and became a super hero. He even wore the Superman symbol I think
Do some Garth Ennis next since Preacher came out on AMC. Looks like they're doing the Meat Packing plant as season 1 so you won't spoil too much if you did Preacher. Or you could do Hitman who is incredibly awesome as well.
oh yay superman/doomsday: hunter/prey...pls do sinestro corps war next or just more Green Lantern in general
I was waiting for the Imprint joke, classic.
Will you do Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne at some point?
quantum leap was awesome. gg lads keep it up
You need to do a Tangents episode using the Gambit/Cable costume discussion. I couldn't stop laughing.
Of all the planets, in all galaxies, in all the multiverse, Doomsday falls into Kaliton. AGAIN
Dan Jurgens: Loves writing Superman with of without the mullet!
Superman at 10% would still destroy everything, he probably needs to be at 10^-30 or something so that Lois wouldn't die.
Hey are you guys going to do the animal man/swamp thing crossover 'Rotworld'?
@2:58 they actually did it, reign of the doomsdays, it was okay.
Bens puns are always great.
GREAT VID BOYS
Can you guys do "The Immortal Iron Fist"?
When are we getting a Rebirth video from you guys? off the rack maybe?
Did u read rebirth
Next weeks Back Issues is Rebirth #1. Watch the Weekly Pull. Sal says it.
Apparently next week on back issues...
Nathan Wright dammit, I miss the Pull ONE TIME, and that's when they answer my question lol.
+Jake Stanley lol, Sal almost always says it at some point during the stream.
I have to thank you guys for reviewing books I won't buy; it saves me money :)
So after Rebirth next week you are doing an X-Men story for apocalypse right?
Are these collected in the death and return of Superman omnibus?
great review guys and i agree this was bad really bad
How do yo feel about Steve Rogers Cap #1 and could you do an off the rack about it?
You know nothing Superman! Metropolis remembers!
I'm just amazed that DC managed to stay afloat back then. I mean letting Dan Jurgens write so many of their comics in the 90's? bad call.
Would you consider doing Longbow Hunters, Kill Machine, or Year One for Green Arrow?
YES! YES and YES! Gosh, I just love Green Arrow. He's my all time favorite character, just not too fond of the new 52 version. I think Longbow Hunters should be something Sal does with his parents, I personally believe that story to be the Dark Knight Returns for Green Arrow.
That's a valid way of defining that story, I think. GA is my favorite as well. Side note, Mike Grell is a super nice guy.
And I meeting Kevin Smith at a con this next month. Im going to get him to sign Quiver and Sounds of Violence.
who's more of a headache to fight against... cyber superman or ultron?
This sounds like this would've been so much better if this was 8 or 9 issues.
Have you guys done a Flash book on Back Issues?
Flashpoint
Ethan has one role in Comic Pop, point out the Sci Fi bull shit. 28:00.
Parts of that story sounded great but I think the dumb stuff outweighs it. Like the shooting the bone claws. That part was dumb.
"thanks bendis! I don't care!" lol
Marijuana brought me here.
Maybe Radiant is the accumulation of the planet's potential energy.
Dan Jurgens was the '90s look.
Prove me wrong.
you should do irredeemable
