I can't tell you guys how many times I saw this video already and I keep coming back watching it over and over again. This is one of the most inspiring and touching films I've ever seen. the last scenee with the girl and the Thresher is the icing on the cake - touched by nature. We were lucky to film the Thresher sharks hunting using their tail in Moalboal, Philippines. If you interested in this footage you find it on our channel. Thanks Klemens
Simply stunning, and now one of my favourite diving films ever! Here's why: when my wife and I arrived on Malapascua we were tasked to open a dive shop and get it operational, by Dik and Cora. This was the first ever dive operation on the island. Michael kindly showed us around and we were given a hand drawn map of the dive sites to visit. Edgar the captain, Santos and Jean, Flo, Bebot and so many others. Together we built up the resort with Dik supporting with European promotions, and soon the word got out locally about the great diving, and of course the Threshers. We stayed for almost a year, and nearly stayed forever, and as yet, haven't returned. Over the years we've followed the growth and popularity of the island and the attention our friends the Thresher sharks attract. It's quite likely that the sharks in your film are the offspring of our friends from back then, a time in which there was often only two of us at Monad, at 6:30am. Huge thank you for making this wonderful film, and greetings from Petra and Paul to all those we met many moons ago.
Hey Paul. Thank you so much for your comment. It is stunning to hear your story. We felt very warm on the island. Probably your good spirit is still there. I remember that we even showed this film before we went back. It was a public screening on the beach and there were tourists and locals alike attending. We even got invited to play for the Basketball Team of our Diveshop. I particularly remember that a girl who was working in a restaurant came up to us apologising that they do not remove the leaves from the beaches ... just because in our longer 'Making OF' we mentioned that the Island has an authentic charm ... that we like that the beaches are wild. Ya, good memories indeed ... hence not as grounded as yours for sure. Anyways thank you a lot. You know this is exactly why we love making those films. Those films are little inspirational time capsules ... they wander out into the digital universe and if the hit the right person, they create positive connections between humans amongst each other and also with the natural world. I especially appreciate it a lot that you shared your story. Wer live on an amazing planet. Cheers, Flo ... Ah almost forgot: ua-cam.com/video/OwYLqvOWxsQ/v-deo.html
@@BehindtheMask Hey Flo. Beautiful words indeed. I actually discovered the making of the video first. It was a great way to consume it as the characters and the behind the scenes considerations were already explained and the scene was truly set; as the movie began I was back there in the early morning on the boat with Edgar and Bebot! (Great music and narration by the way). And the 'story' and success of Lanch is so cool - goosebump stuff! We never met, but just watching her humbleness and joy of what you did with content was truly inspiring, and my deepest respect to her for being a dive-leader, I know the work (any joy) involved. We too played Basketball in the evenings at the school before a gin-juice nightcap - such happy, easy, fun times - such beautiful and caring people. I love the story about beach tidiness, so true of them - we too were charmed by the authenticity of everyone; that said, our little beach front was 'swept' often :-) One other thing that was said in the video, and was also my experience of the Threshers, they are indeed proud, and confident, and tease with grace. That said, I do remember them telling me they'd had enough from time to time (fin position - my inner sense and 50+ meet ups; we knew each other!). But mostly they are just curious. As we are of them. And yes to our amazing planet, and yes to positive connections. Keep making amazing films and if you're ever in and around Augsburg, the first beer is on me!
i had the WONDERFUL experience of seen those AMAZING thresher sharks on Malapascua, after two dives without chance, the third one they come to visit us, the viz was not great, but 4 of them comes from the deep to observe us, shy and beautiful animals, wanted to be there forever... those eyes !!! , i loved this video!! its brings me back to that moment :) thanks
I have watched all your videos in quick succesion but this is by far the best one. So touching, so in sync with the words of Mr. Colman. Breathtaking having been there myself and recognizing the sheer beauty of it. We are lucky as divers.
great short movie! you guys give me so mutch inspiration for making video's for my own in the future. thanks for making footage that will take my mind in another place for a few minutes! keep up the good work.
Thanks Gilbert. Actually this film just won the World Shootout Award. We are so happy about that, especially this place, people and sharks deserve some appreciation, we think ;-)
I really love this vid, probably the most lovely one you made. Images, voice, story and music (is it a music composed especially for the vid ? Tried to identify it without success) are just perfect.
Very, very impressive indeed. We have encountered Thresher sharks a few times but way too far to film them. Maybe this year - who knows ... You are really lucky and your production is outstanding!
Great Dan ... so cool to relive such moments over and over again. Thats why love filmmaking so so very much. It preserves something you experienced and gets the emotions back to life.
Wow beautiful! I love how you developed this story and the narrator's voice was very moving. How did you do that sweet transition with the words and the sharks tail. That was a nice touch.
Leute, ihr seit echt der Wahnsinn, eure Videos sind richtig Hammermäßig und das alle die ich von euch schon gesehen habe "I like it so much". Macht doch mal eine richtig Stundenfüllende Doko. Ihr habt es Geil drauf 👌
