    Sir, how to prevent end cracks while natural seasoning in non varnished household items? It's actually a musical instrument made of Neem wood. Please advise.

    • @vkvsirdotcom
      @vkvsirdotcom  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Arunava, thanks for writing. We can't avoid such end cracking but definitely we can do something to minimise the cracks and let the wood dry equally from all side(else it's more at ends) Generally it takes one year/inch for naturally seasoning. It's better to have a layer of varnish or paint. If the cracks already start appearing, you can use Epoxy Resin or Anchor Seal. What woodworker use to do to avoid further enlargement of crack, they insert Butterfly Key at crack junction.
      Good luck, stay fit and healthy

    • @vkvsirdotcom
      @vkvsirdotcom  3 роки тому +2

      Yes Mr. Mafizur, boiling has been done on atmospheric pressure and wood is boiled at 100 degree Celsius. Time period of boiling depends on the size and thickness of wooden log.

    How many months seasoning required for teak wood natural method... Dry climate

    • @vkvsirdotcom
      @vkvsirdotcom  2 роки тому +2

      Teak wood also contains oil so normally it takes around 4 to 6 weeks to get it dry but if you are not in hurry, give it a timespan of about 3 months with close monitoring. Keep it pressed from both the ends, turn it time to time, if log is thick apply some paint or varnish on both ends to avoid cracking (due to faster rate of drying at ends)
      Good Luck
      Stay fit and healthy 👍

      @vkvsirdotcom  3 роки тому

      Generally no additional additives are used while boiling.
      Seasoning of timber is also achieved by boiling it in water for 3 to 4 hours. After boiling timber is allowed to drying. For large quantity of timber boiling is difficult so, sometimes hot steam is passed through timber logs in enclosed room. It also gives good results. The boiling or steaming process develops the strength and elasticity of timber but economically it is of heavier cost.

    Sar Aisa koi chemical hai jiske andar deeping karne se wood key strength jyada hoga

    • @vkvsirdotcom
      @vkvsirdotcom  2 роки тому +2

      Generally, cellulose is responsible for strength in the wood fiber because of its high degree of polymerization and linear orientation. Hemicellulose acts as a matrix for the cellulose and increases the packing density of the cell wall.

    • @vkvsirdotcom

      Electric is faster but leads to few defects, steam seasoning is ok but it takes more time then electric. Natural is best but too time consuming.
