It took us years before we got to see Zoro and the rest of the Strawhats, and seeing them in the new animation was awesome! Congrats on reaching Wano 🔥
Ngl, probably one of the better visual style upgrade and downgrade at the same time. Overused eye glints and aura effects is personally my turn off for this arc. The ones by Ishitani were probably the bests. No over the top aura etc. Just good old One Piece style. Personal preference.
too bad the middle parts of wano are dogsh[t. the effects are getting ridiculous. the start here with zoro dodging and slashing was neat. should have been that instead of still frame with cube blocks and aura sht
Remember when Zoro lost to Mihawk, who only use a small knife. Now Zoro also uses a small knife and takes down everyone. It's so badass! What a great start to Wano! I'm looking forward to "that" Zoro scene :D
i love MIhawk saying "sorry but this is the smaller blade that i carry right now", Come on men im sure you dont need a blade to beat up east blue´s zoro XD
The whole Wano arc is made as a reference to a classic japanese culture: drawing, music, history. Entering Wano within a storm resembles The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
So fun obscure trivia - that carpenter telling Franky he did a good job has a past. In chapter ONE where those mountain bandits broke down the door to the bar before trying to pick a fight with Shanks, the door was fixed again in the way out. Oda answered this in an SBS (section where he answers fan questions) and said a carpenter fixed it as he hates to see stuff broken, and drew a sketch. It’s the same character, canonically. And if you’re asking why a carpenter from Wano is out in East Blue... well there’s a potential explanation for that too.
WELCOME TO WANO!!! One of the most anticipated arcs of the series, and yet, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say no one was ready for what was about to come :D :D
you might have guessed it already, but Wano is based on ancient Japan. the octopus is a reference to how traditional Japanese plays would almost always have a Taiko drum to keep the beat going along, and the yooOOOOOO is just a very common thing in the plays as well. it's basically a way to signal to people who know about Japanese culture to say "hey, we're goin to Japan, baby" XDDD that's also why the water and waves changed to reflect older Japanese paintings, and why the music is done almost entirely with a drum and (i believe????) the Biwa: a small stringed instrument played with a usually wooden pick. it could also be a Shamisen i cannot remember im sorry XD
Yes the anime was in early into wano where only 11 chapters into e.h. (new arc in the manga) it ended after 4 years of publication and 149 chapters, its still very fresh, where so proud of you for getting here ruff!
The guy at the beginning with the nail in his nose was a reference to the manga's SBS portions if you didn't catch it. Oda made the character up to answer a question some 20 years ago. This guy is supposed to be his brother or something. And yeah, Wano in the manga was 4 years, and i just ended like 10 chapters ago.
The cool thing about this arc is that the anime staff added a lot of non offensive filler moments, that even most of manga readers were cool with. For example, in this episode we see how Zoro ended up in that seppuku situation, while in the manga we don’t.
Being able to cut paper effortlessly IS the go to method to show how sharp a blade is... if the blade is not sharp enough the paper will bend before it actually is slashed...
Damn, First JamiUwU catch up to us and start reacting One piece weekly like everyone else, and Now finally Ruff almost catch up and idk what i'm gonna do when he catch up and there's no more daily reaction again
- Wano is an Over the Top Arc because Ep. 892 is the first episode for Opening 22 called “Over The Top” by Hiroshi Kitadani & Kohei Tanaka - As curtains like the ones in kabuki plays open along with a woman wearing a kitsune mask playing the shamisen a Japanese 3 stringed installment played with plectrum called a bachi reveals the Flower Capitol of Wano Kuni (which appears to be based on Edo Period Japan). Which did you know that the grand view of the entire capitol was one of Oda’s Top 3 Panels while the other 2 are the Straw Hat campfire scene & the other is rather odd with it being Robin wiping the resin onto Usopp’s pants during Sabaody - The magistrate (or bugyō were samurai officials in feudal Japan) is ... or at least he was named Toyama Tsujigiro (which his name is a reference to Tōyama Kagemoto a magistrate & that "Tsujigiro" is play on tsujigiri) aka the real Slasher (which the crime is called tsujigiri a Japanese term for a practice where a samurai tests the effectiveness of a sword by using it against human opponents) while the man next to Zoro is Giro Chintaro which is a pun on the Japanese's pronunciation of "guillotine" appointed as the kaishakunin - the toad on Usopp’s head is named Gama Pyonnosuke (Pyon is derived from pyon-pyon the Japanese onomatopoeia for spring or jumping = boing) / Toad Boingnosuke & in a SBS it explains how they met where Gama was being watched by a snake when Usopp walked by which gave the toad the chance to escape by jumping on Usopp’s head, & when he saw the snake he ran
- The man that Franky is working for is Minatomo which looks familiar thats because in the East Blue (appeared Ep. 51, 61, & 81) you seen his distant relative with the same family name (apparently East Blue Minatomo is written in kanji while this ones names written in hiragana) who Oda created in a SBS in order to explain why in one scene objects or buildings are fixed - The old lady is teaching Robin is named Tsugaru Umi (her name comes from the Tsugaru-jamisen a genre of shamisen music)
And now: Wano years had passed in the manga, meanwhile you're only a good 150 away to being caught up from here; new artstyle, new arc, but we begin with Luffy split from the crew, beached by the whirlpool as Sanji and co fled the ship and the other half remain in deep cover within Wano's Flower Capital Fun Fact: the guy in 2:03 is actually a familiar face, we saw a guy who looked just like him in a Loguetown filler, whose likeness was based off of a character drawn in an SBS when someone highlighted to Oda a plot hole that in the Shanks flashback Makino's bar door was magically fixed, that being a fixer named Minatomo - whose short-temperedness couldn't bear the sight of a broken door and fixed it immediately - he thus became a gag character also showing up in Warship Island and Drum Island arcs. This guy is not the same but a relative of them, also named Minatomo, essentially a nod to the gag character. Usopp's 'froggy friend' was answered in SBS too, 'Gama-Pyonnosuke' was simply a regular frog who perched itself on Usopp's head to avoid a snake attack and just got comfy. Ironically Usopp is a 'Toad oil salesman' which is a riff on the Snake Oil Salesman - someone who sells fraudulent products that don't actually work. Fair warning: it's only these two eyecatchers, they sadly don't give any to the others in Wano style which is a missed opportunity, they will change the eyecatchers eventually but it's a long time away. Deep cover can only last so long though, especially with Zoro, who is framed for being a serial killer and brought before the Magistrate, having also been carrying Shusui - the lost national treasure of Wano - his case wasn't exactly great, but his power still is, so alas he had to cause a scene.
I have stopped one piece for almost a year just ti wait for more episodes to come out. Last that i watched was halfway of wano. NOW I CANNOT WAIT TO BINGE YOUR REACTIONS AND THEN GO BACK TO BINGING UP TO THE LATEST EPISODE!
Finally after such a long time.. you’re finally here . This is one off, if not the best Arc there is, enjoy it. Also this animation with the washed out black was first introduced in the movie Broly for DBS and One piece is using it for our greatest pleasure ever since Wano started.
Trust me when you get to this point in manga bro's you guys will flip your shit. Because rarely do the action scenes work as well in the manga for me but Zoro's Sepuku blade dance was one of them. Not sure why, but it was. Just know now that every OP this point forward has a spoiler scene from the episode.
Wano is literally isolated from the rest of the world thanks to that mountain it is on. So news and wanted posters rarely get inside the country. That's why the strawhats can blend in with the rest of the people.

That song goes so hard for no reason
- Wano is an Over the Top Arc because Ep. 892 is the first episode for Opening 22 called “Over The Top” by Hiroshi Kitadani & Kohei Tanaka
