Physics on Khan Academy: Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. We'll start by looking at motion itself. Then, we'll learn about forces, momentum, energy, and other concepts in lots of different physical situations. To get the most out of physics, you'll need a solid understanding of algebra and a basic understanding of trigonometry.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Most of the time, my teacher just throws the material for us to learn and doesn't explain anything in depth. So after awhile, we tend to forget a lot of information due to the fact that we don't actually understand anything but memorize the information. It's videos like these that help so much.

We can accelerate in circle. Infact any circular motion is accelerated motion because direction of velocity changes at each point of the circular path. And change is velocity is defined as acceleration. So we can accelerate in circles.

For those of you who still don't get it:
20 mph/sec means that for every second the car is increasing it's speed by 20mph.ie,At the first second(t=1) it's speed is 20mph,the 2nd second(t=2) it's speed is 40mph(20+20),the 3rd second it's speed is 60mph(20+20+20) and so on-mph per second.

  • @MyronSpoonBrace

The direction of an accelerating car is forward. It can't travel directly left or right - up or down, just forward and backward. Reverse acceleration is of little interest, and forward is the direction a car is geared to accelerate the most effectively. The direction inferred by a cars acceleration statistics is forward. Or as the notation you brought = 20mph/sec (+). Where reverse would be (-) and null = 0 mph/sec.

    • @Robert08010
      @Robert08010 4 роки тому

You are right that the car is ALWAYS going forward. Negative acceleration would not be in the reverse direction. It would simple be Deceleration in the forward direction.

    +YaSaman HF it is because
m/s is velocity. and acceleration is m/s÷time. We denote time here as s=seconds or s/1. Acceleration
    =m/s÷s/1
    =m/s×1/s
Here both 's' will be in the denominator. When we multiply those two 's' you get s^2.
    Hence m/s^2
I am 13 so don't get mad if I did not explain clearly.
It would be better to understand it if you wrote it down in a paper...
    That's what physicists do...

I find it much easier to simply convert 60 miles per hour in meters per hour, using a calculator of course (except if someone doesn't need). So 60 mi/h is equal to 26,816 m/s. We divide 26,816 by 3 and we get 8,9 m/s2.
8,9 is indeed 1/180th of a mile, so we got the same result. Also I think that Europeans like me would probably like this method much more, we aren't really familiar with miles.

@tIs4gatorbait What exactly do you mean? The Earth's acceleration is on average always 9.8 m/s^2.
An object does speed up in velocity over time with acceleration applied but that does not mean acceleration itself is speeding up.
For example, an apple dropped to the ground would be moving at 9.8 m/s in 1 second, 19.6 m/s in 2 seconds, etc.
