You’re not boring. Myself and others I’m sure want to see it all. Our 72 Super could use a paint job. It’s super solid and runs great. We are getting older and just don’t drive it as much lately. Keep the vids coming 😊
Thanks, my friend, I’ll be back on it tomorrow, was tending to my wife who was not doing well for a few days. Bodywork is tough to film. I always feel like it’s hard to watch lol
In the next video, I sure would appreciate seeing how you sand the rain gutter. If at all possible, if not thanks for considering. Thanks for the work you do!
Oh, you can count on it, my friend. Friday that video will be out. I got a little behind on my second video this week from my wife being ill. I will be sanding the rain gutter down. And then the second video may be Sunday I’ll be putting seam sealer in. I’m trying to decide which one to buy.
I like body work it feeds my creative side . Auto mechanics I do because I often must. I understand it but dont like it. I started my project because I could often encouraged by my 2 sons. The funny part is they took little part in the work. My youngest son helped me take parts off the donor car. A 73 Karmin Ghia rust bucket. I wanted to build one without the back seat section. Knowing how critical keeping the pan straight was i chose to buy a Berrin buggy frame. my biggest expense so far. I dont like dual port heads and would like to go single port. makes it easier to pull plugs. not happy with aftermarket exaust. think I'm going to put stock on. perhaps bus type with a single outlet. Looks better. not happy with 17 inch rims and low profile tires. too rough a ride. also doesnt look legit. Glad i found you on U tube. ❤❤❤
First of all thank you for being here. I truly appreciate it. I’m not real crazy about the big wheels with the gum band tires on cars like these. Single port actually has more torque for pulling out. Believe it or not or maybe you already know that. I don’t despise bodywork. I just feel bad when it comes to this part of the process because that’s all I have to put on video for the next three or four weeks. But I guess that’s all part of the task.
Thank you, my friend, I try to push safety one possible. I know some people get frustrated about it. But it’s very difficult after seeing my father die from not taking caution on jobs. Always be safe, my friend.
Not shabby at all, brother Slade. Actually it was an excellent video. I will now call you the Professor of Bodyology I can’t wait to watch the process of bleaching the headliner.!!!!✌️
Thanks, my brother, going to finish that left side of the car first, and then of course, the right side, and then the top. Then I’ll get inside and do the headliner.
Back in my glory days of Bondo application (I had a '78 Nova, after all...) I used an old Frisbee for my Bondo tray. That slick underside was easy to pop the cured Bondo off of. It still flies great too. The Frisbee, not the Nova.
Oh man, I’m gonna bring you up at my next video. I have an old 1970s frisbee in the garage. I absolutely have no idea where I got it. I can’t remember. That was a good idea.
@@RJLM330 thank you so much for the donation. I truly appreciate that. Somebody had put that panel on before me. It looks like they laid the weld on a little too heavy, which slightly warped the panel. Hopefully I can make it look right.
If you’re not happy with the color, take your time and do it yourself, my friend. I’m doing mine in sections, but I’m going to use the professional clearcoat in the can with Hardner. It makes a huge difference.
@@SladesVWBeetle I have a ‘58 bug and I got a W decklid I’m going to play with some paint and see how good (or bad) I can paint it & see how I do. I want to replace all the rubbers on the car. It’s getting towed Friday and hopefully I get it back Monday with a new/rebuilt engine. I’m so excited. Slowly this car that was used as a parts car will be getting back on track to become what it used to be!
@@iddybiddyladybugleeza909 there you go, you will get there, my friend there is no doubt. It sure takes time, and money, of course. When I purchase any types of rubber, seals or anything. I only use Wolfsburg West, or West Coast metric. The rubber is nice and soft and very easy to work with and much more durable.
Thanks very much. I appreciate the kind,. That, I do not know I would check their website and do a little bit of reading. I never attempted to use it on the outside of a vehicle.
It’s true lol they have been told that before. I should probably do my next opening with a Mr. Rogers on changing my sweater stuff like that lol thanks for being here.
Thanks!
@@PopularityContest thanks very much, brother. That was very nice of you.
Great video! Thats me, can't leave it alone.
Thanks, my friend. That’s what happens, I’ll do a couple passes and it looks great, and then I can’t leave it alone. ☹️😂

Thanks for this one. Bodywork is one of the most complicated, tedious, and time-consuming tasks when it comes to car restoration
Thanks, my brother, it’s a true pain in the butt. It’s hard to keep bodywork. Interesting on video. But I guess we have to do these things.
Nice job greetings from South Africa
Thank you so much, my friend!
Great video Slade! Can't wait to see the next step for that quarter panel. I will be doing both of mine sometime soon!
Thank you, my dear friend. Got a little behind. Heather was not feeling well so I was tending to her. I’m getting back on it tomorrow.

Not boring, just the reality of the work needed 🙂
Thank you, my friend, I try to keep it interesting but it’s not as easy with bodywork lol
Looking forward to the bodywork and budget paint
Thanks, my friend, definitely a budget build when it comes to this part.
Good job 👏
Thanks very much. I truly appreciate that.

Thanks, my beautiful friend, it’s always a good luck day for Heather. Unfortunately this year it wasn’t lol she’s doing much better now.
@SladesVWBeetle good I was just thinking of her.
Great video slade
Thanks, my friend. I appreciate that.
Great video
Thank you, my friend and thank you for being in the live chat.
Thanks for the video slade.
Thank you very much, my VW brother.
Thanks Slade! Been looking forward to these.

I'm using metal prep from Lowe's. I think it's $17/ gallon. thanks for the inspiration!
Outstanding! I’ll have to look into that. I truly appreciate it.
I used a DA sander for the sanding. Sands much more aggressively than an orbital sander which is more of a finish sander.
I do have a nice DA that is air driven, but I don’t think my compressor can keep up with it sadly.
👍
Thank you, my friend.
Very timely for me for my 71 convertible restro.
Its good u ground that area. And used the metal bond.
Could u have used panel bond on that area.

I’m deciding on if I want to paint it myself with my sons help or just leave it red which I don’t like but love my car

than you
