Spent a lot of time out there back in the late 70's/early 80's. Not much left. That hill at the end of the dragstrip could be exciting. Remember watching the "Joey Chitwood Thrill Show" once out there.
Bloody hell! First a lost racetrack then just casually catching an AWACS plane? :D That structure could well be the winners podium! EDIT - maybe not now you've gone closer!
Well I am in Colorado Springs, CO and that old track is near a base ;-) We get all sorts of cool fly overs outside my house. Had Air Force One real low when President Obama came to look at the fire burning. ua-cam.com/video/4_XDcwFPExw/v-deo.html
The old bridge looking structure to the south that he calls a cattle structure was actually a photographer stand. We use to race three and four wheelers on the side of that mountain. We held an AMA National event at that location. Sad to see it was left to rot.
that structure on the track wall was the starters stand/flag stand. the wooden structure in the field was a cross over for the off road course that was in the field to the left of the butte. I raced my first oval track race therein the Wasson High School race car. Smacked the front straight wall pretty hard on my first start too. There was a fatality right about where you came onto the track in the first video.
I remember going here as a kid. Even have programs from 76,77&78 sure do miss this track.

Still an oddball structure

The track surface had tree growth expedited by purposely cut grooves when it was being abandoned for project.
You could have yelled a bit from flagstand and echoed off the rocks you were close to at end.
Turned laps on this track myself, what a shame to see it this way!!!!!!!!
