The tale of medicine lodge is an old tale. One story is a girl turned into a bear and injured a family member. So she climbed to the top of the tower to keep her family safe. Another tale was 2 brothers were each in love with the same woman. One stole her away and raised a mountain up to keep him and her safe. His brother transformed into a bear and tried to climb the hill. It was so fresh with mud that it left the tracks you see on the sides. There are a few more, depending on the tribe. Just a wee history from a local. ;)
Here’s one for you to make. Crispy sourdough bread, prosciutto, baked Brie, caramelized peaches with red pepper flakes! Just saw a video of it. Oh my goodness! Cody would say “this is uptown high rent”!
EXCELLENT Video. I am so shocked that you do not have more than 100K subscribers. I LOVE watching you guys. I have never seen a better video on Devils tower. You made me want to put this on my bucket list. Interesting information, Great filming, Really great drone work and editing (as usual) and loved the music. The prairie dogs, the spider pet, the food. Always fun watching you guys. Can't wait to see where you are off to next.
I loved Close Encounters, the movie. So when we were hiking nearby we had to go. All the rock climbers were amazing. It's always like we are watching younger us when we watch you two. Except you two are way cooler!
A few years back I saw an article that said; Scientists have discovered remnants of roots found under Devil's Tower. It even showed a drawing of the Tower and the root system underground. I don't know that I believe it but it's interesting to think about.
You both do the Best Ever You Tube videos. So crystal clear great sounds like how you both interact on the videos Just like we are right along with you on your adventures Travel safe and enjoy WY Thanks for all you do.
Your videos just get better and better! BTW, I am really enjoying my Starlink too and find it works even when I thought there were too many trees. I do not box mine up every night. I put a pullowcase over it and wrap it in a fluffy towel and just slip it into my van in a place where it cant slide around. Wrap the router and cord. So easy to put in and out of the van. I dont leave it out for fear of it being stolen.
COOL! Love those Lone trees on the prairie. And the smell of Ponderosa Pine Forest. Nothing like it. Kellie did the Fajita dance! I was just thinking that I haven't seen any beef cooking in the vlogs I've watched, then you launch into the discussion about saving money on the road by not purchasing meat but that you like it. Agreed!
These videos have such neat timing. Next summer, my family of 8, (parents and kids ages 12, 11, 10, 6, 4, and 1) will be going from NC through the Badlands to Yellowstone and Teton, and down to the Rocky Mountains and Great Sand Dunes before heading back. It will take us 6 weeks and we will do it with a Honda Odyssey and two tents because that’s what we can afford. My husband has already done half this route with the older four kids while I was on bedrest a year ago and loved it. We’ve been taking many trips figuring out what works best. Googling “large family tent camping across the country” is a pretty niche group, so glad we can find your videos.
I saw an article a few years back that said; Scientists have discovered remnants of tree roots found under Devil's Tower. It even showed a drawing of Devil's Tower and the root system underground. I don't know that I believe it or not but it's interesting to think about.
Devils towers really spectacular, next time you get to camp in the park there is nothing better than to live that view. So glad you guys made it there. The new tee’s are awesome.
Come to Vedauwoo between Cheyenne and Laramie on I_80 in SE Wyoming. Its in a different part of Medicine Bow National Forest where yall were not too long ago. Nice and cool here at 8,000' elevation. I'll feed you, let you use the shower and plug into electricity. No charge!
Steve Wallis , who is also a videographer on youtube has a video of Southern Canada somewhere outside Edmonton where you can see a tower just like Devil's tower. It looked identical just not as large. Sorry Cody for calling you the wrong name. I was nervous if you couldn't tell. Not everyday you meet someone from the tube. Good luck guys. Hope you get to see the Bighorns. Make the loop from Buffalo, Ten Sleep, Greybull and over to Sheridan. Worth it!! Lots of boondocking too. Love ya guys!
@@cuz129 Yeah, I was crying right there with him in my heart. Sad when you think your going to be with that special someone forever and that happens. Poor guy. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Hope you’re off to the Bighorn Mountains next. No one goes there but they look incredible. Plus no grizzles. You should make a tower of mashed potatoes in honor of Close Encounters.
Loved loved this video! Devil's Tower is incredible! How did I have no idea it existed? I love to cook as well but life gets busy AND I work in a pizza kitchen so there is nothing wrong with some turkey sandwiches for dinner! Our family does easy dinners most nights. Also...Kelli...did you bite that ice cream? Savage! Lol!! Happy travels! -Hedy
Don’t wait to long to go to Maine if you want to see the foliage we almost miss it when we drove all the way from middle Tennessee to main it is supposed to start around September 14 this year Bangor was the best but in October they started shutting down places to eat and stay check to get dates
we have been to devils tower and your right, it is one of those very very out of the way places, but very cool to see! Did you know that the movie "Close Encounters" with Richard Dryfas was filmed there. We climbed up to where the trees stop growing! Go to Glacier Mt National Park (HELLO!) LOL.........especially before "The Road To The Sun" closes before the 1st snow hits, which is pretty early in the season. I would then head to Libby Creek Gold Panning area near Libby Creek Montana.......and pan for gold, you can read about it on line. It is located in the Kootenai Naitonal Forest, which has a campground you would love. I also suggest to keep your eye opened for dinasaur fossil diggings........Paleanotologist do diggings all around Montana and move to site to site, depending on their findings. We went to one and it was so neat to watch them. Also, alot of Indian reservations in that area, and they put on different shows/activities in and around their reservations. Perhaps go to a Pow Wow IF it is that time of year for the tribe. Montana is beautiful! Also, gambling in alot of the towns and you can boon dock too at a Casino!
A pro tip that was missed, was that the abductee processing station was converted into a nice RV park! Sometimes some of the abductees will visit it, answer questions, just a neat addition to the whole experience.
before yall leave the west, sniff a Ponderosa pine -I know it sounds weird-you'll be craving butterscotch all day. I was sniffing trees along the Devils Tower trail.Put your nose on one ,its awesome
I don't know how long ago this was recorded but just cruise on over the bighorn mountain range to gain elevation and get out of heat. A lot of dispersed camping areas.
How about you guys swing by SW Oklahoma, buy your new truck and let me take the bear Jew? Anyway, glad to see you're still doing well and thanks for the new video! Edit: I'll even keep the Dome Life logo!
Because sometimes your plans change when your full-time. They were in Michigan they explored the lower and ended up in the UP. It made a lot of sense for them to head west through Wisconsin instead of backtracking all the way back through Michigan which would have taken at least 10 hours for them to make it to Ohio and head east. Plus we don't have alot of disperse camping in lower Michigan.
You can’t fly a drone in National Parks, Monument’s, National Sea Shores, State Parks, or areas designated at a wilderness. However, you can fly in National Forest, National Grasslands, and BLM lands.

The University of Wyoming just did a study of the ground under Devil's Tower and came to the conclusion that it is a petrified tree. Look it up! 😎

Thank you two so much for your channel. You take me to places i could never hike. Beautiful.

It looks like a ancient tree trunk from many moons ago, also I heard on utube most mountains are ancient trees look it up.
I paused the video and ordered a V neck shirt right away! Yay! I love the design, color and size selection. I have been waiting for a v neck.
Ok so that tower was an amazing creation! And the fajita dance was too cute 😆 AWESOME VIDEO as always and I can’t wait to see where y’all go next! 💜
The fajita dance! Love it! You know something is good when you see the shoulder shrug from Kelli!
Awesome!! Loved going to Devil's tower. I want to go back. Great shirts!
The Devils tower is a HUGE TREE.
Some say it's part of a TITAN'S FOOT / ANKLE

You may need to head to the Wind River Mts near Pinedale. Weather is usually a little cooler up there.

You're in all my camping places now. Way better than Mount Rushmore! Been camping at Keyhole since before they banned glass!
Devil's tower was featured in a 1977 movie (close encounters of the third kind) alien movie if you've never seen it was a good one.

We are from Gillette, Wyoming and camp near Keyhole during the summer. Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Speaking of food...what do you all eat for lunch, particularly on hike days?
Have you found the devil's tooth yet? I think I saw that in Utah or right on the border of Utah and Wyoming. It used to have water coming from it.
Your dinner looks so good. What spices do you put in? Your video was awesome.
Love v neck shirts,have to get a green one!I wear a guys med,35chest,think a med.will fit ok?
