Yep, you can read that on her face like a book. But with only 1.1 on the clock, you gotta challenge everything, at least the pass in. The player in the middle of the zone did nothing but position for a rebound that was of no importance.

The person near the top of the 3 point line should be guarding Cardoso. There's 1.1 seconds on the clock. The in bounder isn't a concern, as not enough time for her to inbound then receive pass to then shoot. My guess is she's out of position. I'm sure the coach for TN wanted someone down low to defend for anything close to the basket. Definitely some miscommunications or bad defensive call. Nonetheless, she hit a big shot. grats to her and SC.

I can understand starting with two post players to help prevent the lob to the basket, but there was only 1 second left on the clock. She has no time to make an extra pass. You have to jump to the ball on the catch no matter who it is. Horrible coaching.
I wouldn’t have had anyone on the inbounder.. have 3 individuals guard 3 shooters and then have 2 others guarding the most likely shooter.. but whoever it goes to, the next closest person rotates over to at least put a hand in their face as they shoot.. no time for an extra pass so whoever gets it will be the shooter. This is horrible coaching and just.. horrible game IQ by the players.. that or they have no heart to just let her catch and square up like that.

She was wide open and they allowed SC to make the inbound pass. No one was playing defense. Just because she dont make them doesn't mean she cant shoot them. Thats why you guard regardless of a players stats.

As a Tennessee fan, if the TRUTH is to be TOLD. Coach Kellie Harper lost THAT game. Nevermind the two missed free throws. When South Carolina set up to take the ball out on that LAST procession BEFORE the game winning shot, SHE should have READ that play call and called time out to reset HER defense. Did she ( Tenn coach) even HAVE a time out left ? I think they DID.
Yes, they had a timeout in their pocket. In her post game, she said she didn't want to use it because she didn't want to give SC any time to setup a play, so she (curiously) decided to try to coach up her players from the sideline to defend a pass to one of the "shooters". They didn't press her on why they chose to not defend the inbound pass or how she believed they could get an inbound, pass to a shooter, and score with just 1.1 seconds on the clock though. It was not a good look for them at all.

Me of little faith turned the game off when Raven Johnson missed her three and didn't find out about the outcome until the next day. I've now watched the video at least 20 times. I'm an SC alum and was able to watch every game this year.
