HKG rated as one of the worst 10 airports in the world - what really, is this a joke video... there would be 10 if not more worst airports in the USA alone.
I think this is more personal than someone qualified to review worst airport.
LAX should definitely be on this list and I didn’t have a problem at Lisbon airport
As a native Angelena, I feel like we complain about LAX a lot, but it's really not as bad as it could be and as it is at other airports. I think the main issue with LAX is transportation (ironic), as connecting to public transport is difficult and confusing. Otherwise, I haven't had many issues at LAX.
Transit via Honolulu is a nightmare; they’ll squeeze a 777 into a small lounge and forbid people from ambling around the DTF.
I despise LAX. dumbest layout ever. Dumping travelers out of secure areas so they have to go back thru is a huge waste of time. Contact the damn buildings ! Went thru Lisbon's twice this year. Restaurant selection sucked and waiting areas too centralized. Could be much better
Can you explain what you dislike about it? I’ve heard so many horror stories that I was dreading using it, but I’ve been there a few times and had no problem. Landing in the morning during rush hour isn’t the best idea, but you can say that about any airport in a big city.
@@hothotheat3000 it has been a few years since I flew thru there but my gripe at the time was that the terminals were not connected. Each dumped you out on the street and forced you to back thru security which is a hassle and also a strain on manpower that some simple connecting walkways would solve
I work at Brussels Airport, Belgium so I'm really happy that 'my' airport is not on this list 😅
Brussels airport is the first airport I landed in so its so important to me as well😅
BRU is phantastic. Flying to Africa from a Schengen airport via BRU? Arriving at A and just walking to T - same level and just separated by a glass wall with passport control.
Perfect. And the ugly underground walkway has gone.
@@leonardofetalvero6942 Manila? The city which tried to copy Manhattan as Central business district but totally forgot to install any mass transit so everything has to be done with cabs and Jeepneys in endless 24h traffic jams? ... Failed city planning, sadly. Philippine people need better solutions and deserve them.
Just saying, Manchester airport is actually good. God knows where you got those fake reviews from
Transport links to it are fine such as the 199 bus and the train service . Just a rather mediocre terminal 1 etc and the way they force you through the shopping area. Terminal 2 is nicer where I flew business class to HKG with CX and still feel it warrants better lounges as the UK's 3rd busiest airport. It is being improved though.
Was there as a stop on my way to Lapland, had to wait 7 hours in the fucking thing. Also saw security guards carrying fucking light machine guns
at 5:51, this is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in Manchester, New Hampshire rather than Manchester Airport in Manchester, England. I fly out MHT relatively often, so I figured I’d just let everyone know!
This confirms that this is a vanity video relying on nothing more than the creator's little fantasy world.
Hong Kong should never be on this list, in fact the 6 airports on this list that I have flown from are just fine. Clearly whoever made this list has never been to Cairo or Lagos!
I think Cairo, Lagos or any other airport are not on the same league of HKG, if you look carefully, you would notice they are only comparing between major international airports in developed countries/economies, so... I would say it's expected to have not-perfect experience from Cairo or Lagos, but not from airport such as Hong Kong international.
NAIA(Philippines) is not on the list, a bit of a relief...lol! Finally it's improving. Looking forward for its proposed rehabilitation.
Congrats.. Should be improve every year. Dont always behind another south east asia country while such us Vietnam and cambodia faster improve
@@cocococoz1944 I believe the whole southeast Asian countries are progressing pretty fast. And I hope it will continue in the coming years....
I think Manchester Airport is great! It's my airport of choice when flying anywhere in normal times
You don’t know bad airports until you’ve had to spend 16 hours in the Managua airport, and when you finally fall asleep, they fumigate the place and you have to nap under a tree outside while a man from Spain stands guard, and then you do the same when he sleeps. What a long night 😂
So sorry that happened to you! I stayed at the the Best Western across the road (90 seconds walk) from the Managua airport enjoyed a spectacular pool surrounded by palm and mango trees. Going back to Little Corn Island as soon as possible!
@@heathermoore-simmons4544 man I wanted to go to that best western so bad! Unfortunately I was at the end of a multi month backpacking trip and dried my budget up by that point! Enjoy little corn!! Go check out surfing turtle lodge in poneloya sometime, it’s basically my second home
How did Hong Kong International get into this list? It was a perennial inclusion in the best airports list in the past.
Don't get me started w/ Newark, I've only been there once and I experienced firsthand their crappy reputation. I returned from a study abroad semester in Europe four years ago and went to Newark for a layover under a tight schedule. The infrastructure was SO bad that not only those unprofessional idiots made me run in circles nor sent me to the check-in route where people would start their journey in lieu of a separate one for layover travelers, but also made me lose my flight and things verbally escalated a bit with security. Moral of the story: Avoid airports with crappy reputations for layover routes, especially under a tight schedule!
I’ve been to Newark several times and I was satisfied by the airport and their service.
There’s a separate one for layover travelers?? I had the same issue coming back from study abroad, thankfully my layover was like 5 hours
Don’t book right layover schedules. EVER. You never know when crap will hit the fan.
Terminal C at Newark is decent for United. Terminals A and B for the other airlines are miserable.
Flew through DUS last year. Lovely place. I hope EuroWings can turn it into a thriving operation again after COVID.
Senseless list. Lack of research.
Hong Kong? Like their new airport. And it is ranked fifth best in the world. Pitiful list. Like really I mean out of the world I am sure Venezuela, Cuba or North Korean airports would have been on the list??
Went through Paris Orly. Found service, cleanliness, on time arrival/departure to be great. At least in my experience but this circa ‘98. IDK now.
Went through a lot of construction but still is far from being one of the worst..Paris-Beauvais is..
I've been using Manchester airport a lot and I think that is a good airport! The employees are very kind and the place is very clean.. the food is good too!
My only nightmarish experience was at Madrid Airport. Hope to never set foot again there.
Spent a whole day inside this airport, and more than one hour inside the airplane while connecting to Lisbon. Provided no information at all regarding the flight delay, huge rows to check in your luggage, very bad information or even lack of it, as this airport is so huge that I almost got lost inside.
Agreed. I had a bad experience at Madrid Baraja as well. Delayed flight is not an airport fault, but at least the staff should be more considerate towards the passangers stuck in waiting.
The airport was packed, there were no seats available so I sat myself on the floor. I was about to doze off when a guard came and woke me up with his foot. He literally kicked my legs and asked me to show him my ticket. He can’t speak a word of English for which I found surprising for a person guarding one of the entrances to the country. I had to explain my predicament to him in my pidgin Spanish.
He finally left me alone and, to my horror, captured a bird seeking shelter from the rain and, with a few of his friends, proceeded to torture the bird by pulling its feathers off.
Another bad experience was at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome. A custom officer dropped and broke my video camera while inspecting my bag and he just acted as if nothing happened.
Never again.
Well, my father used to travel from Madrid-Barajas in order to get back home...and he suffered a delay almosy every day he travelled from there.
When you travel you sometimes get to a beautiful airport like Zurich or Dubai. But sometimes you get to something like Berlin. I think thats the fun part of travelling :)
Dubai airport has free shower cabins, which is nice. The rest is just ripoff shops like the rest of them.
I've been to Edinburgh airport many times and it's amazing it just got upgraded two years ago and I think it's pretty good all my flights were on time
I’ve been in Edinburgh Airport twice, quick security, just some of the queues take a long time. Not bad when you think about it.
I am 1st view and like I like u r channel plz give me some info about immigration and about counties
I've only gone to Newark Airport on this list so I guess it's great that I've avoided most of these supposedly bad airports throughout my world travels.
My experience at HKG was quite ok - very efficient in everything. I thought you meant the current crackdown on the political situation might have made the transportation more difficult, but the airport itself.
I've been through Hong Kong Airport plenty of times and I've never had any issues with it. It's clean, it's safe, it's comfortable enough, their WiFi is alright, and they have do some cheap food options. I think the problem is that it's Hong Kong and there are a lot of demanding rich people and business people going through there all the time.
By far, the absolute WORST airport experience I've ever had in my life was my layover at Ninoy Aquino Airport in Manila. Absolutely the WORST. Security checks every 5 steps, rude workers and security guards, the terminals make no freaking sense, there are no freakin exits out of the airport except for ONE door, we had to LEAVE the airport and take taxi halfway around the city just to end up at the same airport to transfer to Terrminal 4 Domestic flights, it was the most ridiculously bad airport ever.
#2 would be the Houston International Airport. SO disorganized. My family and I missed our connecting flights, even though we had a 4-hour layover, because the lines at immigration were so freaking long. And the reason for the long lines wasn't that there was an enormous amount of people. It was that they only had like 2 customs workers, so there were only 2 lines to process all of the arrivals.
I actually I never suffered a delay while at Lisbon Portela Airport, and it's a good airport... it have many good things after all!
Paris airport will always have a place in my heart as one of my favorite airports, a reason why is because I got to see the infamous Concorde Supersonic Airliner that retired in 2004(I think) they put up a display of her in its honor. Truly amazing.
LAX internal arrivals. That circular room was frocking tiny. And I went through there on March 9 2020. Then had to fly home via Atlanta and ended up entering through what looked like a bus depot.
Ha!! I just knew that my home state airport Newark Liberty International airport would make this list
I would fly through Düsseldorf over Frankfurt any day. Lisbon and Eindhoven are perfectly fine too. O’Hare, LAX, LaGuardia, Miami Charles De Gaulle, all deserve to be on this list more.
I love Düsseldorf Airport... wait times can vary for security but are not generally too bad. Plus, I know of almost no other airport where you can get from the airport to the city centre in five minutes with public transit. It is pretty sweet.
Imagine being a City fan watching this video 😂
I totally agree with Manchester. The staff are rude, the wait is long and the security is like hell.
Lots of wrongs here. Especially Hong Kong. Has always been amazing
I thought Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Philippines) was included. You probably haven't visited the PH yet.
They practically only mentioned airports in Europe with the only exception of HK. This is far from being top 10 in the world...
@@ChasonBourne78 maybe they're referring to Top 10 worst of 1st world countries.
Btw, they mentioned some from the US.
OMG, NEWARK! I had a layover there for a transatlantic flight, and can honestly relate to the disgust factor. Everywhere in the airport smelled awful. I also had to burn one of my airline lounge credits to get any food, which I ate out of necessity, despite my lack of appetite from the smell. What the hell is that smell???
I've always had a delay at Newark
USA: WE HAVE THE WORST AIRPORTS IN THE WORLD
INDIA: HOLD MY BEER
I flew out of Edinburgh, I had an amazing experience there (4 Times before the pandemic, 2 Times During the pandemic.)
I met very rude employees in EIN and had to buy very expensive low-quality food in ORY, definitely true. But have you ever experienced PSA?
Hey hun hope you are well. Just wanted to say Happy Christmas before the madness starts lol. See you again real soon.
1:34 can confirm. It's great to watch from the turnpike; but customs is really where it falls apart. In 2018 I was on a delayed flight from Zürich to Newark that landed at 12:15am due to a technical fault in Zürich. Still took an hour and a half to process a more than half empty A330-200 and IT WAS THE ONLY FLIGHT ARRIVING AT THAT TIME IN THE ENTIRE AIRPORT.
There were like 100 to 110 passengers and five queues, three of which were for US citizens like me. Then our baggage didn't get to the carousel until 2:30am.
If you're flying Star Alliance, do not connect through Newark without a minimum layover of three to four hours. It's one of United Airlines's hubs, because you have to go through US Customs before you can go to your connecting flight no matter your final destination and that can take literally hours. Okay rant over, thank you for reading my Ted Talk.
i waiting for NAIA 1 in manila but its good its not on the list hopefully will continue to relocate to a new airport complex
South asian airport :- hold my beer😂😂
Eindhoven airport (NL) is only used by holiday charters and low-cost airlines (i.e. Ryanair, Transavia, Wizz, TUI, Corendon, Sunexpress). That reflects on the clientèle and the offered service. It's small and cheap to fly from/to, yet not everybody realises these low prices come with a matching service level.
My only Nightmare-like Experience was in TXL Terminal C, first of all we waited 1h in the non-schengen Passport Control, with the Staff very rude. When we were flying out of TXL, the Staff were rude, NO SHOPS OPEN, people were sitting On The floor, and we needed to walk the whole terminal to get to the gate, they only opened Gate Area 1h 30m before the flight departed, and like 300 people were stuck in this little area. Once the gate opened, they made Us go wait outside in a wee space with a leaking roof! After 25mins of waiting in this little room, they told Us to Go in the plane. Both these experiences happened in TXL Terminal C, Never flown back to TXL.
How can you avoid some airports, if you need to go the that country or State.?
That airport at the beginning of the video is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, in New Hampshire. It is a great airport!
Many of these airports are nicer than Honolulu HNL. That airport is an absolute wreck.
In the case of Lisbon airport is they are 2 terminals and the terminal 2 is very bad, but the 1st is very nice so is a contrast opinion and depends on the situation.
hongkong airport is one of my favourit airport, it has free wifi and we can charge our cellphone and laptop, free wifi is important in and airport for us to keep entertained for waiting next flight for long hours.. you can find food easily within the airport
Just shows how inaccurate you can be if you base a ranking on feedback comments on websites rather than on objective criteria and site visits. None of this airports qualify to be in the 10 worst in the world. If we are restricting the ranking to large airports in highly developed nations, the ‘worst’ list would probably be dominated by airports in the US.
Manchester isn’t that bad, ok T1 and 3 could do with some improvements but it’s not terrible compared to other airports
Eindhoven airport doesn't even have the necessary equipment for departures and arrivals in heavy fog. So delays due to bad weather is very likely.
I am surprised that Manila International Airport is not on the Top of the list. Theft, poor sanitation, delays, air traffic, poor and unsecured wifi, pollution, extortion, long queues, traffic and bad food all check! I never flew to that airport and paid premium to go to another airport since 2013. Avoid at all cost
I’d do anything to be in one of these though!
Before Covid LAX was HORRIBLE with the amount of traffic 😂
I am completely astonished that Hong Kong International Airport is in Hong Kong! Who would have realised!!! duh
I was under the impression that the old Airport, Tai Chi, was horrible!
Forgot to mention Manila airport, where they wouldn't let people in without a ticket. I had to GET a ticket IN the airport, that's why I had come. And they have airport staff trying to solicit bribes not to stand in a hour-long queue to come in the airport lol.
For me it was at Malaysia, it was my first time travelling by myself and was nervous and when I asked the staff about things, she was like: Can't you look at the screen there, everything is listed down there. And, I had to do things on my own.
I’ve been in almost 50 airports outside the USA and Düsseldorf is one of my favorites. Spacious, clean, not usually very crowded, good public transport into town.
It's really hard to pick an actual worst airport. Personally I like Hong Kong Airport but before Covid I'd only really visit it at most a couple of times a year. But then there are airports that I visited a lot such as Gatwick and Manchester which I don't like although Manchester has been growing on me
I was just waiting for Newark Airport to be on this list...😂😂😂 dang
Top 10?
Hong Kong
Newark
Dusseldorf
Edinburgh
Orly
Manchester
Eindhoven
Lisbon
Even if you include Charles de Gaulle, that seems to be only nine.
Did I miss one?
Juba International in South Sudan should be on the list. No WiFi, No cafes after security, tiny gates. I mean a step up from the tents that used to be the airport but still awful.
Edinburgh Airport that I passed through in 2009 was good. I had been to EDI in December 2019, yes over a period of 10 years really the airport has completely turned out of shape.
Yup, Lisbon airport is pretty bad. Not once haven't I come across endless lines upon arrival. If you have a connection, you're totally screwed
Geneva's airport HAS to be on this list.
Dusseldorf is not that bad of an airport, its got big open spaces meaning its not cramped (That is even with the a380 and all its passengers) more than ample seating, train connections to Koln and Dusseldorf, motorway is very close by and delays in my experience have been tiny to non existent
Why Newark/EWR? I don't need all those shops and stuff. But you have NJ Transit running trains to NYC penn station - 21 minute ride. That is top! And this is what you need as traveller.
And from arrival via NJ Transit and Airtrain Newark I never needed more than 30 minutes through security until reaching the gate. Do this at JFK...
Never EVER had a problem at Newark airport and flew out of there many times, taking the shuttle bus from midtown Manhattan. If you live in Brooklyn its easier than changing trains three times to get to JFK.
What about port harcourt international airport, it's a hotel in Nigeria which the airport is only just a tent.
Can you elaborate why delays are metrics attached to the airport instead of the airlines??
Other than that, Kudos for the video.
What about Albrook “Marcos A. Gelabert international airport in Panama City, Panama
The only good thing about Newark is that a residents of PA and NJ don’t get stuck in traffic en route to JFK
I find your lack of information quite inaccurate. As a Portuguese - not from Lisbon - Lisbon airport is one of the best.
You should add on the list Airport in Serbia , hilarious airport.
"For me Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA should be included in the list everything here are the worst levels: hidden crimes, horrible facilities, sanitation and the lists goes on by the way most of our airports here in the Philippines are the same as bad as Hell .?!"
Been to african and latin American airports and they are even worse.Even some US airports are worse than NAIA. Maybe try to travel first before you put down your own country. But travel tax in Naia is terrible.
@@girbaud07 for real? I really thought that NAIA was the worst because it was always in the local news that NAIA was named as the worst airport in the world by an international institution. It underwent a rehabilitation thats why it was removed from that list. As a taxpayer, we deserved the proper facilities. The travel tax is so expensive in NAIA.
@@braska08 We've improved. Based from my observation from the last 3 yrs, NAIA at least was able to escape from its past. I'm telling you, you wouldn't even want to land in most of the african nations bec of it's terrible airports.
Before you tarnish the image of the Philippines, be sure to update your observation about your own country. Our airport was already improved more than a year ago and you must be thankful that it's not anymore in the list of the worst airports. Truly crab mentality!
Beautiful ❤️
How did ATL, Charlotte, and Madrid get left off this list?
I flew to and from HK airport many times. it's not bad. can't be on this list
I didn’t have any issues at Lisbon airport.
Correction - it's Liverpool that had the most number of trophies.
come to Manila and see what you get in our airport 😂😂
Been around the world but Naia is not that bad at all. African airports and some US airports are even worse.
Delay has many factors. It could be due to airplanes arriving late, bad weather or airline counter incompetence.
Maraming beses na akong pabalik balik ng pinas pero wala pa akong delays na naexperience.
never had issues in manchester airport. its my local airport
Excellent Airport and New Terminal opens in a year or so. In Manchester UK You never circle the airport for hours for a landing slot as its under NATS Prestwick command and not UKs worst Airport Heathrow overcrowded and takes ages for a landing slot as NATS Swanwick completely swamped too many Aircraft all in one Area I hate Heathrow 👨✈️👩✈️👑⭐️🥇🇬🇧✈️Manchester 👎🙏✈️Heathrow 👩✈️👨✈️👎
whoa.. im kinda surprised our airports here in the Philippines is not included.. but i guess thats understandable since Philippines is not really a top tourists destination unlike our Southeast Asia neighbors like Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.. so reviews from tourists that visit are our airports arent that many..
By far, the absolute WORST airport experience I've ever had in my life was my layover at Ninoy Aquino Airport in Manila. Absolutely the WORST. Security checks every 5 steps, rude workers and security guards, the terminals make no freaking sense, there are no freakin exits out of the airport except for ONE door, we had to LEAVE the airport and take a taxi halfway around the city just to end up at the same airport to transfer Terminal 4 Domestic flights, it was the most ridiculously bad airport ever.
Been to EWR in 17' just swept through and no problem, not even border control. However 10 years ago the line to security was horrible. When you have 4 rows and only half or less is opened.
But that doesnt beat MXP in 2017, check-in staff called my youth ticket with Sas invalid and to add salt to wound threatened with having me removed despite Sas saying the ticket is valid. Got home anyway by check-in via the Sas app. Good thing it was only hand luggage.
Two airports I hope I don't have to visit again are Shanghai Pudong and Kathmandu. I only traveled through Shanghai Pudong 3 times, and twice I experienced delays. Kathmandu seemed to be on time, but it was the dirtiest airport I have ever been to. Everything was wet in the bathroom and there was no hook to keep my bag off the floor. It was either put my backpack on a wet floor of a toilet stall or wait until I got to my destination. I didn't have to go badly enough to put my bag on that nasty floor.
I’ve been in HKIA and it was absolutely efficient. There were a lot of food options and stores, also I got a good treatment in the counter. No complain.
I am surprised to see HKG, as in my eyes, its a pretty clean and efficient airport. On the list belongs, however, NAIA Manila. once even portions of the ceiling in Terminal 1 DID come down, and to travel between terminals, the so-called shuttles need to go out on the busy roads around the airport. Loved ones cannot see you off or welcome you in the terminals, waiting is obnoxious, and quality of services and foods are rock bottom. A horror experience. If possible, choose Cebu Mactan Int. Airport, smaller, and much, much better
Damn. And I’m going to Lisbon later this year for my first time in Europe. I sure picked the worst one of them all
Lisbon airport is OK. Not the newest, but the several times We’ve been there we had no difficulties.
Try Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires. It's a nightmare!
can't make a worst airport list with charleroi. its basically a bus terminal with a tent for security
The worst one I’ve been to was Barcelona Airport, it was so messy and it looked boring and had dissordinary lines and rude workers.
Very good thank you
We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing.
Have you been to any of these airports?

10 hong kong
9 Newark
8 dusseldorf
7 edinburgh
6 paris orly

4 eindhoven
3 lisboa
Before COVID, I frequented Manchester Airport
Worst airports in which sense??taking into account what???
I am a frequent Traveler at Dusseldorf and, the only thing true on the list is the long queues, but there are so many good Restaurants, huge shopping areas, bright open spaces and nice staff!
Unbelievable - are you seriously defending yourself because someone offended has blamed you for the idiots travelling and spreading the disease?
