This is the first Sunday match of the 2020 season to be filmed. We travelled south to the lovely village of Nutfield and their picture postcard ground complete with village pub and pond! Enjoy this gentle game which is as typical of English "village" cricket as you could want. With added Jellicopters and curry chat thrown in for good measure.....

Frankly, there's more authenticity about this cricket and this commentator than anything I've seen in the professional arena for years.
David S thank you for saying so. I guess what I do comes from a lifelong love of the game at grass roots level and therefore totally authentic. The pros are doing a job, and that’s always going to appear a little different. I’d be terrible at that! Give me village cricket any day.....
Taking a wicket or getting hit for a six, Lucy's expression doesn't change!
I’m sure she’s very different when the cameras not rolling 😂 “don’t you ever drop a catch off my bowling again” 😡😂😂
Yeah - she’s very chilled
When Lucy gets her England cap everybody here will be claiming credit for it!
Athhar3 😂
I play for the same club that Sophie ecclestone plays for
@@hc4513 well done
Finding the lost ball, typical of local village cricket...haha..Lovely environment. I wish i could be playing there
Nice to see another lady in the game! Deserved win for Sanderstead then straight to the pub!
This defines village to new heights, love it
You clearly haven't seen old Del bowl...
OMG "The Jellicopter" that is so funny. We had been commenting that Johnny had developed this new style late last season which has carried through to 2020. Very stylish. He did well for the first XI too so well done Longcock. Have to say Tylers comment about Longcock was too funny and is why we love English banter. Simply superb! Lastly, well done Lucy - great bowling.
"jelly a few into the bush" 😂
Ah, the days of treading around the long grass outside the boundaries looking for the ball were brought back there.
indeed - wonderful stuff
Sir Vivian Longcock
😂
#jellycoptergate
The commentary while eating is killing me 🤣🤣🤣
And why not!
11:04 'That was a really really nice shot from Matt, I don't want to sound surprised, no matter how much a surprise that was'. These quotes are all being noted and going the ze book.
This is the best cricket on UA-cam. My son and I beam it on to our 84" TV. Best entertainment ever!
Blimey - that’s a hell of a screen! I need to get a 4K camera just for you!!!! 😂
Great sunday cricket and real nice to see a couple of young ladies enjoying their cricket. Lucy is getting better each season. Great stuff
Commentary is top draw sir... love it and it will be great memory for these youngsters down the years
Glad you enjoyed it
Played village cricket for donkeys years, now I live in Kyrgyzstan and I get a rare feeling of well being when watching your Cricket channel. Especially the second team matches.. just love it, thank you..
Shepherd Neame. I haven't had a pint of that since 1974 in Rochester
Essential brew for Kent village cricketers
Sanderstead Sunday XI are back! Cricket is back for real now
Greetings from Nigeria, thanks for bringing the serene low octane cricket to us cricket enthusiasts...
Olugbenga Jaiyesimi it’s a pleasure! This is our first comment from Nigeria, thank you!
Matt Harris the cricket influencer! 2020 really is the year nobody could predict!!
😂😂
Is it me or did Palfers look extremely sharp behind the stumps in this game?! Parenthood must be agreeing with him. Thanks for the vid - love them.
2:03 'Cannily buying her wickets', well why not, at village level ensure the ball is cleverly directed into the reliable hands of 'JL'. Team-working. LA's expression can only be described as 'inscrutable' or even 'stocic'? I am reminded of a a delightful observation in a broadsheet newspaper in the 1980's which observed that Jack Simmons 'did not so much buy his wickets but take out a second mortgage on them'.
I love it. We are big Picky fans here in Dunedin,NZ. And Longcock goes big
Well done, Sanderstead! Cool Hand Lucy does it again. And some splendid Sunday (mis)fields, too. What larks!
Good to see the success of this excellent channel is bringing celebrity and sponsorship to these engaging characters. Well done Danallen!
Cheers!
This is so relaxing you could sleep on the pitch 😄
Some do 😂
Ol Longcopter at it again, brilliant
Did I also hear Matt Harris has a sponsor, outstanding
Great to see women's participation, Especially both teams today!
Thanks guys for giving me my cricket fix. Winter for us here in New Zealand
1:23 Someone please inform Lukewarm from 'Porridge' about the mystical art of backing up.
Not cut out for the quick singles 😂
Always look forward to an upload! One of my favourite channels on UA-cam
Thanks!
@ 19:40 top class juggler, hahahaha
Humour at its best
King prawn balti, keema naan and special rice, and I'd buy Johnny his too!
Nice to see you back.. Dan the ultimate commentator.. munching away.. and well done Lucy as well.. unlucky just to get 3.
I like the way Longcock plays a shot. It's more like Dhoni-style (lifting the bat up after hitting). He shuffled a lot in this match and came late on the ball to protect wickets.
Best of luck Johny and Sanderstead cricker for next match in Chichester.
Entertaining as ever , lovely ground played there many moons ago 👍🏻
Thanks
You guys had a tupperware tea? So jealous :)
Love your videos guys. This is super village.....
Recently subscribed to this channel. Love the cricket and the commentary. Absolute delight.
Thanks and welcome!
Great stuff by all! Great too see people finally taking catches off Lucy's bowling!! Would be interested too know how many wickets she's missed out on over the years!
Did you have a pint for "tea"? The commentary, whilst never poor or dull, definitely turned more amusing afterwards!
Thanks for uploading a delightful 20-minute video - much appreciated.
Simply delightful. Great to have you back.
Great to be back!
Totally fantastic. Village is back, been waiting for this. Lovely setting, great crowd, idyllic setting. Thanks Dan. Time for a cheeky beer. 🍻
Simon Porter batted superbly while chasing this tricky target .👍🏏👏
He’s a quality player - was 3rd XI skipper last year. Proper cricketer in his day.
Aaron - Menai Illawong cc south of Sydney NSW Australia. Thanks for these videos. Love grassroots cricket and these are awesome.
Thanks Aaron
Got to love The Jellicopter shots!
Longcock in full flight is a beautiful thing.
Batting in sunglasses. Top village.
MS Longcock with the jellicopter of dreams
Good to see some cricket....LUCY ❤️my fav cricketer in the world.
Excellent win lads and lasses especially in the bowling department & to whoever was bashing the ball around later. As for curry well anything that's not hot & a garlic naan or two assisted by a glass of scrumpy.
Oh and Lucy most certainly should’ve bagged a ‘Michelle’ in this game!
In these troubled times the whole thing just fades away as you relax and watch a game of full on village cricket in that weather and those surroundings - thank you boys.
p.s. - disappointed at the lack of poppadom orders thus far - all curries start with a "big crisp" surely?
You’re right, of course, but I think we’ve all taken it as read that popodoms will he ordered aplenty!
Great win. Jonny batting like M S Dhoni and Lucy bowling like Max Walker
John Thompson Max Walker 😂. Not sure how I’ll explain that to her! Thanks
Ah, Nutfield - I only played there once, but did take 5 wickets...I remember the teas were top drawer...
1:05 and a one, and a two and...hup!
Nicely clipped off the pads through mid wicket by Matt ( Cornish Pastie ) Harris for 4 biscuits
Wow, I remember playing for Tonbridge YMCA against Nutfield back in the 90's and scoring a 50. Those were the days lol. West Farleigh must be one of the prettiest village grounds in the country Dan, it's gorgeous, you should consider a visit to your fans!
I’d love too - be difficult travelling with COVID restrictions but let’s try and do something next year - maybe a midweek T 20? You can email me at sandersteadcctv@gmail.com and we can liaise post-season?
@@SandersteadCCTV I've sent you an email, let's keep in touch
Only in england will you see a scene like that
Chicken vindaloo and a garlic naan, mango lassi if im spoiling myself
Another great video 👍, commentary is always spot on!
Thanks - the game was dull as hell, but managed to rescue something from the edit 😂
I’m very passionate about my curries Dan, here’s my order. To start it has to be an onion bhaji and a few poppadoms to dip into mango chutney. We’re then having a chicken vindaloo or madras whichever I’m in the mood for on the day, served with pilau rice and a garlic naan ..... Oh and not to forget the pint of Cobra or Kingfisher to wash it all down with. Loving the channel and videos from a Perranarworthal cricket player down in lovely Cornwall.
Thanks for detail. As a hot curry man, I totally recommend a Jalfrezi - a richer alternative to the traditional vindaloo or Madras. I’ll ask the Cornish Kohli is he knows of your club - he played for Camborne many years ago.
Now that IS village cricket with some spectacular fielding. No helmet but a pair of shades and fancy footwear for Rachel...Matt looking rather good and anyone prepared to sponsor him with a bat has clearly studied at the surrealist school of marketing. Beautiful setting with pub nearby. Lucy could have had three for 15 if she’d cut the outrageous moon ball...Great stuff Dan...it’s just missing Inspector Barnaby finding a corpse in the long grass😉🏏
Spot on with your observations as ever Mike. Though it’s Lucy’s moon balls that keep the batsmen guessing!
At least you don’t have to worry about snakes during the lost ball search in the scrub around the oval, like at the equivilant oval in Australia, Go Blue Tongues.
Lucky Longcock got out he was a couple of jellycopters away from taking off.
world's fastest outfield, i presume designed to ensure efficiency whilst Jelly-coptering
Good to see the catches being taken of Lucy's bowling for a change. I'm a little confused that someone thought she was "chucking"
I think the chap in question insinuated it more because she’s female than because he has any evidence for the claim.
This is the stuff!!!
One naan is fine.. four would’ve been insane
I have a feeling that when they do a documentary on the importance of hand/eye co-ordination in cricket, the Nutfield fielding may be used for demonstration but not, as they say, in a good way!
2:25 stumping looked close!
Great glove work Tom
Looked out Palfers - for some reason I stopped filming! Must have been the beer I had 😂
That dive at 16:28
Slowest ever? 😂
Johnny's a player pass it on!
TheFatCricketer he certainly is. Hope to see you giving the Jellicopter a try.......
@@SandersteadCCTV haha i will study it and give it ago next time on bowling machine. I will report back
That outfield looks as fast as Australian outfields did last summer. Does that mean you haven't had any rain for a while?
Correct - it's been a dry summer, though it's raining now and looks bad for the weekend....
Maybe a Bhaji = The Sanderstead Club Song
i love this
I love the channel and I love the way lucy plays with the bat and ball And also it’s nice to watch another lady playing in men’s cricket because that what I did and you don’t get it at many clubs. So Lucy keep it up and keep enjoying playing. 👍🏻
Sarah Peet thanks Sarah - I’ll pass on your message to Lucy. She loves her cricket. Where do you play?
Sanderstead CC TV I play at rockingham colliery cricket club it’s in hoyland common Barnsley South Yorkshire and no problem I play for third team last year and this year I play for a women softball team, also I love playing it the same and I also coach there and I play football aswell and I play in the goal and have done since the age of 5 up till I am 21 and I am still going
Brilliant! You’re an inspiration!
Sanderstead CC TV thank you for that I am a role model to the girls because there say they want to be like me when there are older but also comments I get from parent are really good and how much time a patients I have when coaching so I feel like I am being a good role model
Looks nice
What is Darren supposed to be bowling? It appears to be offspin without the spin.
i’ve got a life goal to play for or against Sanderstead tbh
Johnny had to put his Chips down to catch that.
😂😂😂
You said in a previous video you may do hockey videos. Are you planning to do them next season?
Surely she should be wearing a helmet??
Harris with sponsorship!
Cracking Sunday action there Dan...will you be filming at Priory Park?
Yes - should be a step up in quality.
Rachel woodland 👍
Johnny Longchopper!
On ya village gang if you went into the long grass in Aus u would probably get more than the ball I think a snake or two mite be present
Need to tell the keepers to leave the bails on the floor!!
Beautiful stuff - but you could lose entire players in that long grass!
maybe a pint???
surely that’s rhetorical
19:10 what does he mean by share? Sacrilege
😂 yes, it’s funny isn’t it - we all share Chinese but sharing a curry is criminal!
Looking forward to this one. However before I am looking to do some similar coverage for my local club (and why not!). I know have asked this before but I can't find your response (I am clearly a 'village' UA-camr!). What camera/mic set up do you use please?
It’s all set out in links below every video. If you want to know more email me at sandersteadcctv@gmail.com and we can fix up a call so I can talk you through it.
Sanderstead CC TV that is really very good of you! I will ping you a mail as you say and whenever you get time a quick chat on this would be amazing 👍😀
Matt Harris looks far more convincing as a batsman - who was the kind soul who pointed out which end of the bat to hold? A more important question, has he learnt how to catch, yet?
Unlike Jonny, who has a very safe pair of hands.
Is Lucy trying to bowl faster? Age/ Muscle maturity? Certainly her deliveries look a lot more wicket-to-wicket with intent, but she has concomitantly lost that very dangerous dip she used to have.
Also: No Derek sightings.
Wouldn't like to field on there.
Hey guys
Is Lucy Sanderstead highest ever female wicket taker and run score? Never seen another female play for your side plus she looks deadly with ball in hand 👍🏏👋
Yes she’s the only female playing adult cricket at Sanderstead right now.
Fair play to her and long may it continue 🏏 Needs to change that curry order though 😅
All hail Longcock
What are the ales at the Inn on the Pond Dan? Sounds like you were tucking into your lunch or several choc bars for an extended period at the start - and why not? The Budden LBW ball looked as plum as a pudding. Lots of potential but I think Rachel could do with a little front foot movement and bat backlift if I might be so presumptuous. English willowfastic.
Scotch egg old chap! The cask ale was Spitfire (Shepherd Neame) - there was also the usual fizzy stuff and the obligatory Guinness. Not cheap (£9.50 for 2 pints), but a nice spot.
Yes, you can't beat a scotch egg - wonder if somebody does a curried one - probably.
I hope not - what a thing to do! The scotch egg would disintegrate into a soggy mess
Not exactly clear but I thought the batsman got his foot outside off and the impact was outside. Definitely not plum
Hit him on the toe in front of middle - hope you're not an umpire. Sanderstead called "plum".
Lav lee
If I come and live near Sanderstead have you got room for a 75 year old ex bat wicket keeper ;) :)
😂😂 there’s certainly room in the bar 🍺🍻
@@SandersteadCCTV That'll do. I can talk a good game
stephen richards excellent - we Sanderstead Codgers have a saying “the older we get, the better we were”
@@SandersteadCCTV As it ever was…
Can hear you eating off camera
Excellent! Thanks for listening 😂
Next time, please use tennis ball to play Cricket . In that way , there will be no injuries plus there will be lots of entertainment 😀 .
