Thank you for posting this! I was stationed at North Island in the mid 70's. I rented a small house on 8th ave in Coronado, a stones throw from the bridge ramp. A lot of new construction has taken place.I worked at the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Facility. The building was at around 9: 25 on the right. When I was there it was just called NAS North Island. Coronado was the amphibious base to the south.

Thank You!!!!! My Grandfather got trained at North Island, 1940-1941 (pre-Pearl Harbor) US NAVY AD-1 (Aviation Machinist-Mate First Class). Although he passed away in '99, I WOULD show him this video!!!!!

Coronado is NOT an island. It is connected to San Diego by The Silver Strand land through Imperial Beach.
NAS North Island was my first Shore Duty. Was Stationed there 1975-78 AIMD Paraloft Lox Crew. Had a good time there . Beaches, Motorcycles, and good friends . Now been to San Diego because of the USS Midway.

I’m currently living on the naval base since I’m in the navy.
That place is a resort/base. It's clean, the gym is the best I've seen in my 30 year Air Force career. I commend the Installation Cmdr. Wear a mask inside n don't whine about it. Even in the gym. I worked arms in there super hard at 48 years of age with a mask on no prob.

You need a US military ID or dependent ID to actually visit the military base.
