Hey, noticed you noticed that our voiceover guy mispronounced EDtv as E.D.tv. Well, shit happens, he didn't get it and we were careless so now live with it. Is it a dumb idea to ask you to like the video now? lol
I loved Beach Bum. His first line in the movie is an insane scream that my close friend r.i.p. would let out all the time that states I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time. Then he basically goes on to portray my recently departed, insane best friend for the whole movie. It was a weird cosmic “hello” from beyond.
How is 128 million against a budget of 62 million hardly a success unless we know that 50+ mil was spent on advertising? Don't see you citing the full financials and I can't find them anywhere. 2.1 earnings to cost ratio was totally fine in 2000 hollywood man
Dude. He's speaking in jest. When you consider probably more than 50 on advertising and then theater cut. Everyone forgets about theater cuts. You can Google all that stuff if you desire. I just started the video. So maybe you're taking umbridge with something super specific. Point is. There's more to it than just advertising. My family runs an independent theater. What I've done all my life. There's alot more happening than just advertising.
As I understand it, the general rule is that a movie needs to make 3 times it's budget in order to be considered a success/profitable. So a movie that cost 62 million needs to bring in 186 million to do well. 128 million is barely more than 2 times the cost, so it wasn't a success.
@@seacucumberable Don’t forget the Hollywood Accounting. A lot of the production companies only exist for the duration of the movie and disappear. They Charge $10k on paper cups, $500k on lights etc, and make some of the most successful movies in Hollywood look like they didn’t make a profit. Then that money is squirreled away to people and places and hidden from the tax extortionists, aka IRS.

Great video on Matthew McConaughey. Great actor who sadly doesn't get as many great film roles as he deserves.
Great Actor 🎉 Lincoln Lawyer & True Detective S1 ❤
