  • Dylan was trained by Little Angels Service Dog as a mobility service dog for his recipient. He has begun alerting his recipient to her POTs (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which allows her to prepare and be safe during an episode.

      I can say it really gives you so much freedom having a task trained sd, if it wasn’t for mine I wouldn’t be able to drive due to my pots, and he helps with eds pain management using deep pressure therapy ❤️

    You guys are amazing! I love your dogs so much, they're absolutely gorgeous and your trainers do such an great job with them! The only thing I wanted to say was that maybe you should try a different harness. Doesn't have to be as expensive as a BLD but something other than a Bridgeport. They're very sturdy I'll give them that, but the y-front doesn't give the handle as much support as a straight-front does. It moves to much and the handler could inadvertently hurt the dog with that harness. It easily pinches the sensitive shoulder blades and the faux sheepskin runs down quite quickly.

    i have pots syndrome! do you think a dog would be good for like since i can’t notice when my heart rate drops low or goes super high and sometimes i don’t know when i’m gonna pass out!

      Hannah Shelton having a service dog is a HUGE deal and is not something people should consider unless recommend by a physician and when treatments do not or cannot provide what is needed. I am in the process of getting a service dog for my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, POTS and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. i will be doing owner training as going through a service in my area can take up to 5 years to receive a dog. Having a service dog is in no way easy but when it can keep you alive and functioning, it becomes one of the only options and should only be considered if it is absolutely necessary.

      Hannah Shelton If you’re passing out without warning, yes a service dog would be able to help with that.

    I have recently been diagnosed with pots ans have had all day everyday headaches and cronic pain for ten years and feel very alone most of the time cuse I can't do somethings by myself such as go to the store also have trouble walking I have to take multiple breacks and get dizzy or light headed a lot ... I have been researching severice dogs and I usely get overwhelmed with how much they cost and dwters me from looking cuse as I am disabled I am on ssi and o. Fixed I come and wonder is there a program that can sign up for or help me get a service dog cjse would make my life so much easier to have that help

    I'm trying so hard to find answers about these service dogs but can't find anything! I have POTS. I can't find any science or literature behind these cardiac service dogs. All I've read is anecdotal evidence that these dogs can sense drops in blood pressure, and apparently it's an innate trait? Not something that can be taught, is that correct? Does anyone have any answers?? I don't understand how this is possible

      It is possible to train a dog to pick up a scent wether they have that ability naturally or not. During a tachycardia episode, you would thoroughly swab your gums and then freeze the sample for later use. There are some scent training tutorials on youtube from Service dog universe and wesley the service doodle that I've found to be very clear and thorough

      @@charlieg3674 but what chemical substance/change is the dog smelling?

    • @charlieg3674
      @charlieg3674 3 роки тому +2

      @@KennM12 I'm not sure which one it is for POTS, I'll try and find that for you. Edit: Catecholamines are the name of the chemicals released when your heart rate raises, so I'm assuming that's what the dogs are picking up on, sorry I can't be more helpful

    I have POTS. I'm in my 20s. I live at home still. And I can't get a service dog because my mom is severely allergic to dogs.

    How do you train or get a train dogs for pots?

  • @amygiardiniere1981

    Why did you not show the POTs tasks the dog is trained to do? Does he burrow? Do DPT? Alert by licking? That's what people with POTs need to see - the dog actually working for the handler, not a walk in a store or playing in the park or a stay and hold, and basic retrieving. Where are those videos? Can your dogs react during an attack or a fainting episode? This video shows me nothing other than a well trained dog who still needs to be treated or rewarded for doing his job.

    That handle is way too tall they should be max 6 inches tall.

    This video is misleading, as POTs doesnt always affect blood pressure
