Most interviews are for TRP's. The interviewer is most often unqualified to handle the interviewee who is a legend/icon by themselves. This was one of the rare interview wherein the titans were together in a chat program.Enjoyed this iconic interview. Both legends in their own right. The mutual respect for each other is reflected in the interview. Few composers as classic as Salil Da [Well versed in both western classical as well as indian classical music] and Asha Tai [Iconic playback singer in probably all the Indian languages] have blessed us with some of the finest music. We remain indebted to their contribution to indian music.

The programme were recorded in 1993, and posted after 7 years in the year 2000 and I am watching it in 2021. After 21 years of posting . After recording I am watching it 28 years later. Wow!!

His music was successful not only because of him, but also because of her! Otherwise, why did he stop working with Geeta Dutt and Shamshad Begum, after Ashaji started giving hit after hit?

@zubair a sari There is an interview of Aashaji in marathi where she was asked this question. She said that even didi can sing any song but some of the songs which I sung needed to be shameless which she had reservations about. Which is true since Lataji was the eldest and looking after the family she had to make right choices and set a right example. It is big heart of her that she said in one of the interviews that if I had sung some of Aasha’s songs I would make khichadi. Because of her mindset she won’t be able to get right feelings. So it is wrong to say without understanding the reasons why she did not become a versatile singer.
@@sash9371 u r right i agreed. ..but when i said verstile which mean songs like cabaret, Fusion song etc didn't mean vulgar or anything. .however both r living legends n respectful
@@zubairansari8396 well only cabaret song she sang was from film Inteqam. That too since LP forced her to sing and the Sangam song Buddha mil Gaya she sang again forced by Raj Kapoor but she did not watch the movie. So that tells one how strict she is in her ways. Life made her serious so that her siblings could enjoy life more.
