Ever wondered how coaches and players get an edge by studying game film, but you don't have access to expensive software like Synergy?
    0:04
What if I told you there's a hidden goldmine of NBA clips that you can access for free right now to break down player stats, plays, and more? Stick around, and I'll show you how.

This past summer, multiple coaches asked me how they could study film. They wanted to break down basketball clips but didn’t have access to resources like Synergy.
    0:24
That’s when I told them about a secret: the NBA actually offers free, broken-down clips on nba.com.
    0:31
To access these clips, head over to nba.com. Once you're on the landing page, go to "Schedule" and click on "This Season's Schedule."
    0:38
From there, you'll see multiple filters to choose games. For this demo, I’ll select an NBA Finals game by filtering for June and the playoffs.
    0:48
If you have NBA League Pass, you can watch any game by clicking the "Watch" button. But for free, broken-down clips, click on the box score.
    0:57
Here’s the key: when the box score comes up, you’ll notice certain numbers highlighted in blue.
    1:01
These are hyperlinks that take you directly to game clips. Let me show you an example: by clicking on Luka's 10 defensive rebounds, it takes me to a screen showing all 10 of his rebounds, each clip ready to watch.
    1:13
You can also look up more stats by going to "Players" and using the drop-down menu.
    1:19
Here, you’ll find season stats, playoff stats, All-Star stats, and more. Let’s check out Joel Embiid’s field goal makes. Since I still have the playoffs filter on, it will only show his playoff makes.
    1:31
Scrolling down, you’ll notice each clip is labeled, making it easy to find exactly what you want.
    1:36
The labels typically include play type, shot type, teams, time, and shot distance. Depending on the play type you’re searching for, you’ll find those details in the columns.
    1:50
You can also explore shot plot charts, hex maps, and shot zones, which heat up based on individual player performance.
    2:00
Just like that, you can analyze individual players or teams. View team stats, clips, and explore various charts.
    2:09
There are so many stats and clips to dive into, you could easily spend hours on the site.
    2:16
Coaches and players, I hope you found this video helpful. Share it so more parents, players, coaches, and basketball enthusiasts can start watching NBA clips right away.
