I was a huge Christine Taylor fan growing up so I was one of the few who saw all 4 episodes of this. I distinctly remember only taping the pilot, thinking it would last 😂
Found out about this on Lost Media Wiki. It's kind of a weird show. Lost & cancelled media that has been partially found has a mysterious air to it, we're watching a flop or mistake that a tv network wiped from public existence, while the rest is lost in time and history....just a memory for some who happened to catch it at the right time. Very interesting.
I like Christine Taylor, but she was really miscast for this. She comes across intentionally malicious instead of the oblivious and immature but still somewhat likable character from the film. It's cool to see John Cameron Mitchell in this, but I'm glad he went on to do much better things.
I grew up in the 90s, but this laugh track is OUT OF CONTROL even in 90s standards. Poor Christine Taylor. She tried and it was probably fun doing the opening credits, but this show just wasn't a good adaptation of the film at all. We need Mustafa! It's a trip to see pre-Hedwig and the Angry Inch John Cameron Mitchell. This show being canceled must have given him the time to work on Hedwig.
the problem with this is they they made it into a lame sitcom with a fuckin laugh track. they could so reboot this and do it right today but through it on showtime o even hulu
This is horrible, an insult to the 1994 film from which it is based from. No wonder why it didn't last more than a few lame episodes. I didn't watch it then and now watching this I know exactly why.
_"Let's get this party started,"_ followed by pop music montage. Wow. 😳 That's never been done in a sitcom before. Seems this show raised the friggin' bar.
Seriously. ‘English-the language?’ HAHAHAHoooo!HAHAHA!!! ‘Get that taken care of-The attitude?’ HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Like WTF those aren’t even actual jokes.
I saw this pilot episode taped at Sunset Gower Studios in 1996. I got to meet Christine Taylor, she was the nicest person.

Christine Taylor is a Goddess. I wish she could be a bigger star but not everyone can be like that. She did get Ben and I am happy for her.
It's over now. DIVORCE!
I never seen the movie, but I remember this very short lived sitcom. One of the few shows my ex gf an I used to watch together. It was hilarious
?👀
Wow...an entire sitcom that was actually inspired by 90's club music. I had no idea.
actually it is a movie with Parker Posey

The librarian woman is Kelly from King of Queens
Very interesting. I only knew Christine Taylor from Night of the Demons 2.
You have never watched Hey Dude?
They did at least seven episodes, but only 4 aired.
The very same happened with the show they tried to make from Fast Time at Ridgemont High
Funny show
If Melody from "Hey Dude" had a doppelganger in the city.
Well they are played by the same actress 🤦♂️

Yeah but being a show from the 90s it has a nostalgic feel to it
Wow. This is just BAD. BAD. BAD. And the movie was SO good.
Ha! Wappingers Falls. Weird..
Watch the wonderful movie this is based on with the inimitable Parker Posey: ua-cam.com/video/ztJuuYFnD1k/v-deo.html
I wonder if Harry literally wanted to change the film into what the show became...bc why is it so bad??
Yikes I made it about 5 minutes through. This is so bad.

First episode is rehashing the movie in a bad way. The laugh track is ridiculous.

Parker Posey was a far, far better Mary and Christine Taylor was a far, far hotter Melody Hansen.
Movie was better 🤩
9:49 Weird... normally the _black_ girl is the careless, irresponsible one.
