@@TheEdmon Awesome! I am totally hyped for Panzer Corps 2, essentially it's the same game as the first. But damn, sometimes a little make-up can go a long way to enhance a game for me. It just looks and feels so modern now without losing any depth. :D
Looking at this to learn the ropes...As I see the biggest difference in the units are their special abilities, right? So better look twice especially when upgrading. I wonder, whether it is worth it taking something like a Fieseler Scout Plane or a Bridge Engineer. Most things I see in other videos is something of an attitude like 'they do not fight - they aren't worth it'. I would like to have your opinion on that matter. Yes, I know, two years later...
Bridge engineers are only useful for bypassing rivers. Spy planes are very useful to scout out enemy positions with, they are super cheap so easily lost and replaced.
Just a suggestion - maybe move your facecam to the right side of the screen under the turn counter? Currently it sometimes obscures the map and what you/AI are doing. You can cover the turn button it's not important but the turn/weather will be visible as will the most of the centre screen where stuff is happening Also, position your recon before arty/airstrikes the bonus is great and you can usually move it away afterwards Will be following your playthrough - good luck
Hey there! I have a bad habit of not using my recon when I could get a free bonus XD. However, on experimentation I have found the bonus early on makes little difference often. Not even generating an extra surpression or kill... so it's not the biggest deal. Later on it seems to matter more. I think the bonus may scale with the experience of the recon. So I get much better at being mindful about it. In terms of the camera, after 1,000's of videos with it in that position, I more or less instinctively know where it is and thus usually avoid it being in the way. There is probably a "more ideal" position for it in every game I play, but I think it's better for me to just reflexively try to center the action on the center bottom left ish of the screen. You seem to start at the bottom left for most of the grand campaign so this works quite well I think. Good suggestion though, but as a human of habit, it might end up more in the way accidentally if I move it now. Obviously I want to have it there to show I am playing live and there is no editing sorcery going on.
It seems that they have removed the ability to have a deployment phase at the beginning of the campaign in Poland in other words I cannot disband any of the starting core.
Hey quick question, since I can't seem to find it elsewhere, but what is yoru release schedule going to be for this campaign? Is it every two days and at what time will videos be made available? Thanks in advance.
Greetings, The next one of this will go out tomorrow. I may release it early, but it will be tomorrow at some point. Typically, a video goes out every day at 9pm GMT. At the moment, there is Corruption 2029, Kings Bounty and Panzer Corps 2 going out. So the videos are going out in order, daily, until the campaigns are completed. Corruption is a short game though and will end soon. There are also bonus videos that go out daily from the start of each month, these are generated by Patreon support, at the moment there will be an extra 23 videos going out next month based on that support. There are extra videos for every 50 subs, hence the release of the recent Battletech Revised Sneak Peak, as well. This months support videos have already gone out, they were started early as there was a flood of things I wanted to show. I hope this clears up the release schedule for you :). Hopefully one day, there will be enough Patreon support for this to be the primary thing I do, when that happens there will be 2 videos a day, everyday. Every doller matters, so consider your support!
i don't know too much about this game but are cities and towns where flags usually reside? if that's the case wouldn't it be better to give flag killer to an engineer unit since they will be the ones doing most of those attacks, or is the bonus so minimal for them that its better to give it to other units?
With you talking about the early finish bonus, I remembered playing Battle for Wesnoth (originaly a Linux title, but available on all platforms now). Have you tried it? Despite being a fantasy game it is very similar to Panzer Corps.
Well then, you should give it a go. While it isn't well known, it is both free and very good. It's gotten a bunch of new campaigns since I last had a look at it, and it's even on steam!
@@TheEdmon I think you are underestimating the power of AA. I have been getting amazing mileage out of my 7/1, as it just does so much damage even on my own turn. Against a MS406, I am often losing like 20 prestige per attack with fighters... but the 109's have 3 extra initiative. If you can supppress half the unit before you attack (and a 7/1 CAN suppress half the unit before it attacks, it really is an amazing AA piece), that means that there is almost nobody left to fire back at my 109's which doesn't just save prestige. It saves turns I don't have to reinforce, and it saves experience. It's a lot easier to farm exp with your 109's killing suppressed enemy fighters, where I am often getting 0-3 results where I would be getting 2-3 or 2-4 results without AA, depending on the enemy. I will say, I am finding SPAA vastly more practical than towed. I really haven't gotten any value out of my flakvierling at all, as it HAS 8 road movement points, but appears to set up and take down very slowly, as it can only move 5 points along a road and still deploy, when I was expecting 6. Way less usable in practice than I was expecting, as 5 movement per turn is just not really enough to keep up with your tanks and infantry in tight spaces. Also, with the new increased truck costs, post beta, I am thinking that honestly, towed equipment is just a bit underpowered at the moment. Sure, the 7/1 is more than twice the price of fighters, but it also does a LOT of suppression damage. On paper, you might think "oh, the 7/1 has 8 air attack, and the 109 has 10 air attack, 10 beats 8", but that 100% bonus rate of fire adds up quickly, meaning you are almost always getting a kill offensively, suppressing half the unit, and then on DEFENSE, you get ridiculous, as you aren't rolling 10 against 8, like a protective fighter would be. You are rolling 8 against 0 twice, which is NOT comparable. I don't even really know what will happen, as the AI will not initiate an attack. I think it's done the math. I admittedly am just getting into the game, so I am still on the second highest difficulty, but I expect this will only get more pronounced on the last difficulty, as fighter loss ratios will get worse as the enemy accuracy improves, but the 7/1 does NOT get shot by enemy bombers. The AI will not mess with a quad 20mm AA gun when it's deployed. I have seen fighters fly directly over my artillery, see my AA, and just end their turn without firing... at my 105mm artillery, which is ludicrously weak against strafing. In fact, next mission, I am going to give my 7/1 my camoflage hero just to see what happens. I expect it to be ridiculous.
@@timmietimmins3780 I will develop AA guns into my deployment as time goes on. Early on the coreslot and prestiege cost us huge for something that simply deters. But later on, when you have more units to protect and the enemy air force gets ever larger, it can start to pay for itself strongly even without AA vet.
@@TheEdmon Yeah, I feel they are not useful in poland anyways, as poland just doesn't really have anything in the way of strike aircraft ,and they are an active hindrance in norway south, as not only is norway's air force weak, but they are also a prime target for raiding on the boat ride across from denmark, AND their anti tank power is not relevant. Starting in france though, the 7/1 starts wrecking, when a second or third AT gun is very useful to protect against french armor, and the french planes start posing a serious threat to ME 109's.
@@TheEdmon Actually, I just wanted to amend that. Out of curiosity, I tried using a pair of 10/4's in poland, and they are still great. They are basically AT guns, that are more mobile than AT guns, that are cheaper than (towed) AT guns, that have 6 soft attack instead of 1, hard target type instead of soft, and are more mobile, and oh yeah, they have an anti aircraft attack. I feel like they are a sleeper great unit. No infantry can REALLY trade favorably with them when they are in AT mode with an artillery behind them. If a tank shows up out of nowhere, you are in less bad shape with them, even in anti aircraft mode, (8 hard attack, 9 ground defense attack, 14 initiative, 1.5 rapid fire), than you would be with most units except your best tanks and MAYBE grenadiers. These guys are just crazy good. I think they just completely replace the 37mm towed AT. And still shoot up and don't get wrecked by infantry as badly.
Might be, I have no clue. I know the A.I. goes after stuff it in theory should not be able to see. Sight from aircraft is sticky though (it persists into the next turn).
I think the AI will just speculate on where it thinks your units might be if it doesn't know. I am currently in the Ardennes, and I saw an enemy fighter fly onto a road, see my artillery directly below, and nope the hell out when it noticed my SDKFZ 7/1 Standing directly behind it (ended it's turn without firing). If the AI could truly see your units, it makes no sense whatsoever to fly into melee range of a 250 point AA gun only to get absolutely obliterated next turn, but it makes perfect sense for the AI to fly over to recon/attack the only road into bastogne.
