    I immensely appreciate seeing a video from someone outside the community that doesn't come off as immature or just a bad joke. Thank you for making this video!

  • @Tyrgannus1

    This is all just simple math. Take BPM and divide it by rhythmic interval:
    by 10 in 24th streams
    by 15 in 16th streams
    by 20 in 12th streams
    by 30 in 8th streams
    etc, etc, etc.
    The fastest bursts I've personally seen are 24 APS (arrows per second) such as the drills in Whazashmup. The fastest burst stream (longer than a burst, shorter than a stream) I've personally seen are 20 APS such as the end of Rise Up. The fastest long term stream (4+ seconds) hasn't really eclipsed 17 or 18 APS, but that's still really damn fast.

    People have only gotten faster and its insane to watch. I highly recommend watching high level itg/ddr

    I would not step softly on the ddr arcade pads, as most of them in USA (including DDR A) happen to be under or over sensitive, forcing you to stomp on them especially for freeze arrows.

      Last time I touched a DDR machine was in old orchard beach, and I had to hit damn hard for the arrows to register
      Could barely pass DAIKENKAI on standard, and I was already super tired after only 2 songs
      Their ITG machine had much softer pads though, probably because DDR gets more recognition than ITG so people play the former more
      (Yes they got both DDR and ITG)

    ugh, my problem is that every arcade I can go to, there's been so many idiots stomping on the pads I have to hit the pads with the full wieght of my feet in the center, very damn annoying cause the faster songs get damn exhaunsting

    • @mmalone139
      @mmalone139 7 років тому +14

      If you play Pump it gets worse.
      The pump pads actually say STOMP on the panels for some reason, encouraging people to stomp on them.
      They get sunken in and you have to make medium to large movements to get to them. Not to mention, there is no cushion once theyve been stomped
      down so flat, making you even more tired.

    Euphoria on ITG has those ridiculous 1/16ths for 1120 steps per minute, but that is not even close to the craziness that is egoism 440 with quarter steps in a 440bpm song for an absolutely insane 1760 per minute or 29.3/s

    the term is bracketing when they take the small steps to hit the arrows

    • @mrninjagon270
      @mrninjagon270 6 років тому +2

      crackervirus This is incorrect. Bracketing specifically refers to placing your feet over the “brackets” of the panels, such that each foot lays over 2 of the panels, so you can play through a song without even moving your legs. While it’s good for conserving energy, it comes at a cost of precision and timing.

    HELL YES SAVE POINT!!! Thank you ERIC HOLNIKER! You're still the most awesomeness of awesome there is bro! And thank you CNLohr for helping make In The Groove! And with Eric being in cahoots with the RoXoR ITG team before it's officiaI release, somehow, him and I ended up playing one of the very first DDR converted In the Groove machines in America ((after)) it's official release!! We had YEARS of fun and both even got on the producers credits for helping better code misc patches and make graphics for Stepmania 4! We also both made separately, and in concert, incredible step charts and songs that went on to be really great! Especially Eric's stuff! I even won the 3rd prize for the first Stepmania contest! It was the time of my life and I was really big into it back in 2005 and the years surrounding it and could go faster than these guys do in these videos. However they're minimal muscle technique looks better than how I ever got, which tells me that these guys are capable of much higher speeds than this. Trust me!! I was once a part of these people, but there were a group that was a Tier above me which I could only come close to reaching, which in that term is like where as I would get a 98% on an expert high BPM song, they would get a 99% and if you know ITG, THAT is a HUGE difference. I could never quite get the minimal muscle technique to work for me very well. Some say it helps considerably just to have to correct kind of flat shoes like in this video. :) well! I miss those days! And I still love you all, the entire ITG/DDR/PUMP Community forever!

    • @CNLohr

      Ah!!! That what it was. Either way I'm glad to have been apart of the greatest, most invigorating thing of my life! Looks like we both worked on Stepmania though! SM4 was a wiiiiieerrrrdd undertaking, what with the constant direction changes it took a long time to come out. I worked with (Katze) who assigned me 3D work and (DarkChao i.e Eric) who we both made 2D art coding. I was the one that made the model and textures for the improved 3D Model Dance floor that would wave around (helped code some of that X+Y+Z axis changes as well. And some other stuff like background graphics. It's all a joint project and am happy to have helped since it's still the greatest video game series of all time! Dance games literally destroy the boundaries between video games and physical games! TRUE Motion gaming! Bless you all!

  • @CaveyMoth
    @CaveyMoth 3 роки тому +2

    I never had a pad that could register arrow presses with my feet so close the center of the pad. It seems weird being able to dance with such minute leg movements. It's almost like they're not even touching the arrows. But that's the only way to be super fast.

    As 10 other people pointed out already, Mad Matt is known troughout the ITG community as the player with the best footspeed. Here's a link. Also, the last song, Cold Pizza, that they are playing is a level 17, if I'm not mistaking. Mad Matt can play up to level 21.

    Songs get harder and harder each rhythm game series that comes out, in DDR I use to be scared of Max 300 and Max Unlimited on Expert back in the day now its a cake walk, as of 2017 the hardest song in Pump It Up is Paradoxx Double 28 and DDR Ace the Hardest Song in my opinion is Egoism Challenge Doubles.
    Watch 2 - 3 years from now Paradoxx and Egoism will no longer be considered as tough anymore. Lol :D

      I don't think it's fair to judge someone's playstyle, everyone plays the way they want to play. But you do realize that even "bar raping" players can generally play songs about two blocks lower in difficulty without the bar, and have a good grasp on techniques like crossovers and BPM changes?
