But this is the first time I’d genuinely be happy for all of them to win
No one is unpleasant, not even in a comedy persona kind of way. Everyone is really supportive of each other. I don't think there's another set of contestants with such good vibes.

rewatching this after a while. back then i didn't pay much attention to the ringtone dance challenge but looking at it now not only from a technical standpoint, but at a comedic and emotional one, i agree that hugh deserved to win. it's so well crafted and he and alex looked like they had so much fun.. plus it made me laugh and smile so much and i bet the audience felt the same. it is what it is i guess. hope he knows he's a crowd favorite :D
I felt really bad for Hugh this episode. Seeing Greg's bias towards Noel and against him so evidently like on the ringtone task broke my heart. I can't imagine how Hugh must have felt, he was certainly not expecting that reaction, especially after so many laughs.
@@robertofontiglia4148 : Thing you have to understand, for this task and most of the art/creative tasks : Greg doesn't reward the most high quality, or most well executed stuff, he rewards what's most entertaining and fun to watch overall. It might seem unfair, and maybe he exaggerates with that sometimes, but it's important that the quality of execution doesn't get rewarded too much, or else artists like Noel would win all the painting/drawing tasks for example. You have to give a chance to people who are absolutely shit at painting in painting tasks, you have to give a chance to people who have no sense of rythm in dance tasks. And you do that by rewarding the ones who make the most cool and entertaining stuff, even if it's simple and badly executed. And one of the main factors for a good entertaining thing, is for it to not be cringy. Noel is the most simple and dumb dance, but it's done in an ironic/cheeky way. While Hugh is by far the most well-executed dance, and I thought last place was harsh, but since he tried so hard to make something that looked great and professional, it looked very kitsh and amateurish, which made it a bit cringy. I'm not saying that to shit on Hugh, he's one of my favourite from the first 4 seasons, I'm just genuinely explaining how Greg ranks people in creative/art tasks, because some people seem to genuinely not understand his decisions, but they have a logic.

This show really isn't about giving fair points. It's about ridiculous tasks designed to make for a good show. So yes, the scoring isn't objective, but who cares? Btw, to me at least Noels tasks are always amongst the most entertaining.
@@moritzh6876 I can agree with that. Also, my gripe isn't even with Noel, as he's just doing the tasks as he would. I find it great when he does something completely unexpected and gets a lot of points for his effort, like with the magic trick in this episode. But the dance for example, didn't look like it had any effort put into it and was just randomness for the sake of it. Him get maximum points for every artistic or creative task gets old for me after a couple of episodes. I would find it much funnier to have Greg stand up to him for one of them and call his ridiculousness out, as he did for the other comedians who go for crazy designs all the time.
Mel deserved sole 1st for the dance. Hugh should not have been last considering there's more choreography with his than Noel's. I was very surprised Noel had been getting high scores for some tasks that was done better by others... but then again I'm not the Taskmaster. You can see in Lolly's reaction since episode 1 when there's a "questionable" decision.
I spent a whole week waiting for this even though I binge-watched everything in your channel and am already in season 7. Taskmaster is such a good show

How tf did Hugh lifting Alex into the air (and the other way around. It wasn't the most graceful, but it was what was doable in an hour with a mid 50 year old) not beat any of the other dances? That was such a more beautiful dance than literallly any of the others.

And it’s the first time I don’t have one or two set favourites, or at least people I wanted to win. In series 1 I “allied with” Frank Stiller and Josh Widdicombe, Richard Osman was decidedly the coolest contestant in series 2, in series 3 it was Dave Gorman (fine, and maybe Rob just because of the gran scene). But this is the first time I’d genuinely be happy for all of them to win
No one is unpleasant, not even in a comedy persona kind of way. Everyone is really supportive of each other. I don't think there's another set of contestants with such good vibes.
Most adorable set of contenders plus a crow.
Hugh is my favourite contestant so far.
Honestly, Hugh's dance was my favorite. It was thematically consistent and involved more real effort than anyone's other than maybe Mel's.
Hugh was robbed in the dance battle. He should've won
Or at least 3rd.
The correct scoring of the dances would have been 1. Mel 2. Hugh 3. Lolly 4. Noel 5. Joe
I'd put Lolly in last but I agree with the rest although I enjoy everything Joe does! 😍
I'd put Mel no higher than 3rd.
Noel would’ve been last in my opinion. At least Joe’s dance required balance and a partner.
huge looked like he was genuinely hurt with the dance bit. poor guy
seems like the only task he really cared about how it was judged.
One of those great episodes where you remind yourself: Alex Horne did this to himself.
He learned so many dances
I'm a grown woman of 40 and my crush on Alex Horne cannot be any bigger.
He's just the sweetest, humblest, most creative person out there. And I love the general "What am I doing here?" facial expression.
The best part is that Alex Horne really does look like Manet and that blew my mind 3 minutes into the episode.
I was going to disagree, but then I realized I’d googled Monet instead.
I think he looks more like Van Gogh
Justice for Hugh! He deserved at least 2nd for his dance lol
Hugh's picture was actually pretty close (of course accounting for it being toilet paper) to the picture of the queen on a 5 pound note.
LOL, when I saw the vid I thought they were talking about the "Queen" the music group.
@@greenfox1991 what
I thought so to!! I even said it was the Queen when I first saw it.
@@greenfox1991 Also known as "Queen". Also never known as "The Queen".
@@ericminch true, sorry
Hugh properly deserved to win the pommel horse task. I don't mind Greg tying him with Mel, but I do mind Greg saying it was a pity vote. That was unnecessary and untrue.
When Joe smashed the bucket i lost it
With every episode in this series, Mel becomes more of my favorite contestant than I thought she could become
Edit: everyone’s commenting about the dance, but did anyone see Mel’s reaction to Greg insulting the dance? The other competitors laughed, but she looked equally heartbroken 😭💞
It is shocking that Hugh went up and stole Mel's winnings like that.
How can that be Hugh? Hugh wouldn't be wearing a mask of Hugh.
I love that no matter what the challenge, Mel reads the task and says 'brilliant! excellent'!
Because she has another wax seal for her vault filled with wax seals.
Hugh's choreography was easily the best!
The execution was not so good.
One of the people I genuinely want to get to know and befriend that will never happen is Hugh Dennis. What an awesome person he is!
He gives off chill dad vibes and I really enjoy watching him do the tasks. Still think he is deserves better with the judging sometimes. He seems like a great person
I want to watch Hugh tumbling on an endless gif. He looks so happy.
For all the injustice he faced with the cell phone dance, I'm pleased with how much fun Hugh appeared to be having with the pommel horse task.
Greg: Why d'you get on the table mate?
Noel: Mind your own business.
Pratika Singh such a teacher 😂

rewatching this after a while. back then i didn't pay much attention to the ringtone dance challenge but looking at it now not only from a technical standpoint, but at a comedic and emotional one, i agree that hugh deserved to win. it's so well crafted and he and alex looked like they had so much fun.. plus it made me laugh and smile so much and i bet the audience felt the same. it is what it is i guess. hope he knows he's a crowd favorite :D
17:28 “It’s cheeky, isn’t it? Like baby dinosaurs?” god I love when Noel says things with his mouth
As opposed to his nose
@@rileymichelle4926 Or his ass...
@@AND-od5jt you mean his back alley?
@@Anita_sensei Not sure, if I'd go that far (in) ;)
I felt really bad for Hugh this episode. Seeing Greg's bias towards Noel and against him so evidently like on the ringtone task broke my heart. I can't imagine how Hugh must have felt, he was certainly not expecting that reaction, especially after so many laughs.
Hugh should have won the dance
Honestly I'd swap Hugh and Noel for the dance. Joint win to Hugh and Mel, Noel in last place because honestly...
@@namnam2701 I totally agree. Even Greg admits that the scoring is biased because it's just based on how much he liked it. Sometimes it sucks that the scoring isn't based on how well the contestant did, but it certainly is funny.
@@namnam2701 I agree with all that though I still feel bad. Hugh looked about to cry! I can’t say what he was thinking (sometimes expressions are deceiving) but his face still made me sad
@@namnam2701 nah mate
I haven’t laughed so hard at something since the beginning of quarantine as I did at Hugh’s dance. A winner in my eyes.
Noel's footwear continues to dazzle.
Frankly, I'm a little jealous of how well he pulls off those boots.
Noel continues to dazzle.*
Hugh and Mel had by far the best choreographies imo.
Really feel bad for Hugh. I think if I’d put in actual effort and still gotten judged as harshly as he did I wouldn’t put in any effort for the remainder of the show lol
Tbh I think by this point he's expecting it a little. They're putting on a show and I think he's just accepted his role as the guy forever in last place, whom Greg "hates", etc. But the "Horseshit" was a bit much...
Fortunately for him all the tasks are filmed way in advance. By the time they're in the studio filming, all the tasks for that season have already been completed.
@@XanBcoo i really wish they didn't do it that way
When contestants see that someone like rhod has totally broken the game, it's months too late for them to adjust their tactics
it's honestly hard for me to watch the dancing task because of how mean Greg is
@@XanBcoo didn't stop Greg from pulling Nish to the side and asking him to put more effort in lol
I'm all for comedy, but watching Hugh's efforts being shat on was just horribly and "genuinely" disappointing.
Yeah that was really unnerving
I really feel sorry for Hugh, his dance was better than most of the others.
Joe Lycett's look of amazement at Mel's magic pommel horse, and his sincere "Where did it go?" kills me every time.
Everyone: Hugh was robbed of the dance task and essentially was the best
However I feel Hugh deserved second place. Mel's choreography was good and well executed.
Noel third followed by loli and Joe last
I quite honestly thought Lolly's was a dead ringer for Harry Potter and she deserved better in this challenge...Hugh's dancing too
Mel is such a sweetheart in this. In all the episodes so fat, she has been a tru sportswoman, congratulating everybody and willing to take the full blane so others can get a better place. I already loved her from Greates British Bake Off, but here she's just brilliant.
I just love how much Alex commits. The dancing was so good
Oh, thank Christ! I'd been binge watching Taskmaster not realising series four has not yet been completely uploaded. Imagine my disappointment last week and now my joy today! This programme is too addictive, it's not natural.
Oh, Alex. 1) FULLY commits to Mel's choreography, to the point of looking genuinely dramatic/sultry at certain moments. (Let's just forget about the wardrobe malfunction lol) 2) Months later, completely matter-of -fact: "Not the ringtone you thought it was, so the entire concept is nonsense, anyway over to you Greg." He is so goddamn weird and I love him
Every time mel says desky or does her little salute, I get a little bit happier
Hugh choreographed a whole fucking ballet and got 1 point. Criminal.
When you next blink: just close your eyes as you think. It can give you all the time you need.
Hugh has been treated unfairly in the last episodes already, but this episode really is the sad pinnacle so far
Jesus christ it's comedy, lighten up.
@@faithpearlgenied-a5517 it was comedic at first, but by the end it just felt like a forced role he had been given. Especially when he looked so happy to be dancing just for it to be slapped as horseshit

The way Noel’s jaw moves when he laughs looks so unnatural and creepy, like a robot trying to pass as human.
Lee Mack does that too.
Like a crows beak rather, muhahahaha!
Came here to comment that same thing

My god ive never noticed that before, but now i cant unsee it
Watching Hugh and Joe's failed splashes broke my heart for a sec there lol
I really like Noel as a person and a comedian, but they're just boosting his score this episode, the dance was kind of funny but horrible and the painting wasn't great either. I don't think it's fair to have your trademark be 'I'm crazy so whatever I do, it's part of the show' and be awarded points for that
This show really isn't about giving fair points. It's about ridiculous tasks designed to make for a good show.
So yes, the scoring isn't objective, but who cares?
Btw, to me at least Noels tasks are always amongst the most entertaining.
If you watch British comedy shows for the points and competition, you are totally missing the point...
@@laogon09 Have to give it to you, the dance wasn't really spectacular, especially with Hugh getting put down like that at the same time :D
Mel deserved sole 1st for the dance. Hugh should not have been last considering there's more choreography with his than Noel's. I was very surprised Noel had been getting high scores for some tasks that was done better by others... but then again I'm not the Taskmaster.
You can see in Lolly's reaction since episode 1 when there's a "questionable" decision.
this series had many artistic and portrait tasks. definitely gave noel a big advantage.
I spent a whole week waiting for this even though I binge-watched everything in your channel and am already in season 7. Taskmaster is such a good show
Hugh's choreographed dance was much funnier and more entertaining than any one else.
This episode really shows the bias Greg has toward Noel. His dance was NOWHERE near Mel's, yet he gets joint first. There's been a lot of instances of this bias, but this truly reveals it.
He's the taskmaster. He is allowed to be biased
That's literally the point. It is what he likes the best that wins on these kinds of tasks. That's the point of the taskmaster.
@@TKDDLJ09 But if he's just going to like Noel's effort the best every time regardless what's the point of the show? Just call it the Greg & Noel show and have done.
Yeah the camera trickery complaint for Mel was bs after Noel literally used editing to hide in a past camouflage challenge. Cmon! I love Noel but fair is fair. Can they use camera tricks or not?
He also heavily favours Lee Mack since they're besties which leads to some other great performances coming in lower than they should.
How tf did Hugh lifting Alex into the air (and the other way around. It wasn't the most graceful, but it was what was doable in an hour with a mid 50 year old) not beat any of the other dances? That was such a more beautiful dance than literallly any of the others.
It wasn't a good dance, but seeing two men almost fall down trying to lift each other in the air should have won for how hilarious it looked
I liked Hugh's ringtone dance, it was majestic and matched the music very well :(
Noal should have brought in a completely normal picture and said it was more suprising that there exists a completely normal picture of him
That's what I wanted lol, like him clean shaven, in a suit, hair pulled back or something haha
That handshake at the end of Hugh and Alex’s dance might be the most British gesture I’ve ever seen.
yes! I loved that. had to revert to a bit of stiffness to move past the excessive contact
Hugh losing made me sad :/ He totally aced the dance challenge.
this was the episode that I learned that a walker here is called a zimmer there which was wonderful because I got to imagine the elderly “zimming” all over the place, whatever the fuck that means
short for "zimmerman frame" not sure if that is the inventor or manufacturer, but it is certainly a better name than "walker"
*zimmering
I heard it was invented by Bob Dylan.
I love this group. Lots of fun people and no real rivalries showing up. Everyone's just nice to one another, and Mel is the sweetest most adorable individual.
I feel like the ringtone task is something Bob mortimer will be very good at.
HerrBratwurst - he excels at all things!
Joe should've gotten last on the dance task. He just bounced in circle w/Alex. At least Hugh had different moves. 🤔
Also, after days of binging this show, I found myself humming the off-key cords, played between tasks, while at work 😂
Cause it's wet out innit
Noel's jaw movement when he laughs is genuinely uncanny valley tier... The verdict on the dance task reminds me that being rude for funsies has its limits
WHAT?? Hugh's dance was clearly the best!
Thought Hugh pretty much nailed the dance competition, smh...
"Friendship is Truth"
I really thought I was an honest guy before this.
Joe really put the "ham" in "hammock" there.
Hugh’s dance was my favorite!
This is the most wholesome series of Taskmaster so far. Everyone seems to be having such a nice time.
except hugh
I’m really glad that this isn’t censored, because Greg Davis just dry as hell saying, “Horseshit” was a religious experience
Mel is my absolute favorite, I thoroughly enjoy her enthusiasm!
