I'm very much looking forward to doing the Norwegian fjords on Queen Anne on 1st September. I do hope the ship doesn't depart too far from the traditional Cunard cruising standard, it's one of the things I love about this type of holiday. I know that a lot of people prefer a complete lack of formality, and I respect their choice. But there are dozens of other ships which cater for that view and fewer nowadays which do the opposite.
That will be a really nice time of year to do the Fjords, have fun! I don't think the ship will cause any departure from the traditional offerings of Cunard like traditional dining, formal nights, afternoon tea, dancing in the Queens Room etc. Those are what really makes Cunard.... Cunard! I just think people do themselves a disservice by comparing QE, QV and now QA to QM2. They'd have to purpose build "QM3" and still I don't think they'd be able to duplicate what she is. Have a wonderful time and thanks for watching!
I can't wait to see the real ship! The artist impressions are good, but as I say they are washed out. Hopefully I'll be able to sail on her in the fall and do a full review. Thanks for watching!
New subscriber - thank you for the video, I’m late in watching!! Recently booked QA for 2026; already very excited to see what she like. Also disappointed there’s no solo cabins but got a very good price for July 2026 ❤
Thanks for subscribing! There are some really good deals still if you want to book further out. The only thing I'd caution people on now is that I've noticed Cunard is starting to take a page out of Celebrity's book and offer a lower price for non-refundable deposits. So be careful what you purchase!
Probably not a fair comparison to QM2, different style of ship and a completely different era of ship building. I'd compare to something like the Enchanted Princess which is a bit taller with more passenger decks, but about the same public space. I didn't find her crowded on our Transatlantic in the fall.
The prices are two expensive 14 night cruise with balcony is nearly 8,000 grand for two , that is awful which I suspect is why it’s struggling to sell out maybe prices will drop after a year or so ,
Two things are happening I think. First, the cruise industry has been saying for a while that the days of cheap cruises is over. We're seeing that with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and to an extent with Princess and especially with Sun Princess. Second, they won't knowingly take the prices to the bottom with a new ship until they have to. If the ship is well received, it will fill up and they aren't usually worried about filling it too early, especially when it's sailing roundtrip from Southampton because they have a mass of loyal passengers there that can drive to the port for the right price.
Hello. I have said this before but, Queen Anne needs to hit the mark right out of the gate to bring the traditionalists on board. Because there is much chatter about QA's departure from the Traditional Cunard look, feel, and offerings. Some are not pleased nor impressed.
I agree with you and I disagree... Everyone who compares each ship to QM2 is missing the point. There may never be another QM2, it's an icon created at that transitional age to the modern cruise ship. There were people bemoaning the differences of the QE2 to QM2 when it launched saying it was too modern and didn't fit what Cunard was about. I think anyone who wants every ship after QM2 to be the same is going to be disappointed. However, what's important to Cunard is there with the Queens Room, Golden Lion, Commodore Club, Afternoon Tea, Grills, Real Formal Nights (don't get me started!) and Traditional Fixed Dining. So in closing, Queen Anne needs to hit the mark with people who value those things and want more options for travel with Cunard, it doesn't need to hit the mark for those that need a ship that is going to be exactly like QM2. My thoughts anyway! Thanks for watching, this is my favorite part of running this channel!
I'm very happy to see that there will be a full promenade deck. I'm very disappointed, however, that there will be no single staterooms. This seems like a step backwards to me.
Agreed, that seems like a miss these days. Perhaps something they'll correct in the first maintenance period. Cunard does often have a Singles Sale on their ship but I find it's not well advertised even to Travel Agents. Usually it reduces the solo supplement down to 125%. Thanks for watching!
A few random thoughts. This is not an ocean liner. This is a cruise ship through and through. Plush fittings? Yes. Every Cunard ship between QM2 and beyond. Victoria and Elizabeth are simply HAL Vista class vessels. IMHO, I sincerely hope whomever Cunard hired to do it interior design stays the heck away from Grays, and Whites. This is a horrible trend. Cars today are utterly bland grays and silvers with black interiors, now I'm seeing homes with gray siding. This to me is extremely common, bland, uninspiring, and frankly? Sterile. I hope Cunard uses real colors. Grays and silver are not colors.
Oh absolutely it's a cruise ship although I'm glad to see they are using the more traditional bow design compared to Celebrity and Royal etc. There is only one modern Ocean Liner in QM2. I'm also in agreement that I'm done with the beige / grey trend in everything although I'm not hopeful that it's going to be any different. For me the worst of the renderings is that Royal Court Theatre, that's not a theatre, it's a cinema if it looks like that. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video

I am her Med Voyage early June. Looking forward to comparing with the other 3 vessels. It looks good from artist impressions !

It looks like P&Os Britannia. Looking forward to trying her out.
Going on her Nov 3rd - Canary Islands!

Given the size of QM2 and the size of QA wouldn’t the QA feel more crowded?

If you're talking about American prices, Australian prices are much more expensive.

II'm booked. March 2025 - Singapore to the UK, 33 days. Princess Grill Suite . . . cost all up? circa A$80,000
Very, very nice! That will be an epic voyage. Are they still planning the Red Sea route at this point or taking you around Africa?
