As of July 2021 these modules are now capable of taking in SPDIF digital audio instead of the analog audio! This is perfect for use with the original Xbox that outputs SPDIF digital surround sound!
@@RetroGamerBB I’m not aware of any of our customers using these with their Dreamcasts, but it shouldn’t have any problems handling that video output. We don’t currently have any Svideo to HDMI solutions, but it’s not out of the question.
Looks good, but I agree with @Emmet Turner, it needs to support RGBS or Sync on Composite. 240P would be nice, but most displays don't accept it over HDMI anyway.
Yes it can! The latest version of our boards that is in the process of being manufactured can accept digital surround sound audio and will embed that data on the HDMI output.
Hey, I'm planning to purchase this since you're out of stock on the AVE-HDMI with no indication of when or if they will be back in stock. For the analog2hdmi, which of the 4 options displayed on your website is the correct one for the Wii? I'm assuming the component & analog audio option is correct. Is it a coding difference between the 4 options or physical board changes? I will be soldering this into the existing Wii video output pins on the motherboard. Can you please clarify what the HS & VS solder points are for on the analog2hdmi board shown in the product photos. Keep up the amazing work and cant wait to see what stuff you guys release in the future!
Does this or the electron analog HDMI mod work on a Sega Saturn? I plan on buying another HDMI mod I bought off u guys now with this mod will ALL Dreamcast games work on it VGA or not😊
Hi there, do you know if this will work with a PS2? Im getting into PS2 modding however I havent seen a chip like this on the PS2 modding scene yet, any help is appreciated!
hi, can you use this while still ussing the original vga signal wich is powering a tv? so you can use 2 tvs (one with the original vga and the other with the new hdmi signal) ?
One thing that isn't apparent on the video or the website, do both Component and VGA versions of this board support interlaced resolutions? I know you guys are working on a GBS2HDMI board, and I'm thinking how it will play ball with the different outputs, can I for example enable passthrough of interlaced resolutions? I know GBS-C can additionally toggle Component output, but I'm not sure if it's 1:1 as functional as the VGA output (it used to have some issues, was improved, but yeah, not sure if it's still identical to the VGA). Currently my VGA adapter for the GBS-C is fine, but it officially doesn't seem to support 576p correctly (outputs as 800x600 somehow), doesn't utilize the full vertical space correctly on 480p or 576p, and none of the interlaced resolutions work. It's not super important, but I would like to have this flexibility in my setup.
@@AndehX You probably mean the Component version of the board, since RGB HV isn't as easy to pull from PS2 without forcing it? It's good to have the confirmation about that in regards to the Component video board, but I'm also curious about the RGB HV version as well. The GBS-C scaler I use will natively output RGB HV by default, and even though there's an option to toggle to Component video output, I'm not sure if that feature is completely on par with the RGB HV output (it's an additional feature included by the custom firmware, not a stock feature by the board, and at least some older discussion about GBS-C claims that the Component output can have some bugs. That's why I'm curious about the interlaced passthrough on RGB HV version of the board as well).
Why not you offer a direct Solution/adapter for Wii. I mean why not a wii2hdmi v2 or extreme to just plug into the Wii console AND a HDMI cable to TV?.
Does it need seperate H/V sync for RGB? If it can take C-Sync or Sync on CVBS (Composite Video) then it would be perfect for all the people with that crappy Warrior 64 board.
This currently does not accept composite video, but we have been in talks to implement a solution like that. Is that something that would be interesting or useful?
@@ElectronShepherdLLC I mean using composite video as a source for C-Sync as opposed to H/V Sync, not to get video from it. ;) Many devices will accept CVBS (Composite Video) or C-Sync on the H-Sync input but the marking don't imply that you can and I have heard that the scaler in Wii2HDMI/RetroTink 2X does not take RGBS without a YPbPr conversion circuit (built-in to the RAD2X cables).
@@emmettturner9452 as far as I’m aware our firmware does not currently support C-Sync. We currently support RGB with Sync signals and pure Component signals. I will look into this request for you.
@@ElectronShepherdLLC Thanks. Yeah, I can see it supports RGBHV (separate sync) just not sure about RGBS (standard consumer RGB with Composite-Sync or Sync on Composite Video). Since so many RGBHV devices will accept RGBS with C-Sync on the H-Sync input, I thought I'd ask before looking into sync separator circuits. IIRC, MobiusStripTech recently released sync combiner and sync separator circuits. If it does not support RGBS then perhaps integrating one of these circuits would allow it to be used with many more devices. :)

At this point in time I’m only aware of resolution restrictions when in VGA mode. I believe you’re referring to when the input is a component video signal. Let me speak with the firmware team to understand if 240p will work.
@@ElectronShepherdLLC The issue is that most HDMI scalers or the ones that handle analog input for a digital TV treat 240p as 480i and unnecessarily de-interlace non-interlaced video. This is bad for retro games, or even for Wii Virtual Console games. It causes artifacts and blurring for 240p sources while adding additional latency. At least some Wii2HDMI units handled it correctly by line-doubling to 480p but you had to set your Wii to 480i. When you do, the VC outputs 240p even though most everything else is 480i.
Has there been any demand for a smaller VGA to HDMI dongle that uses this same circuitry? I'd be interested in using one with my modified GBS-8200 as the generic dongles seem to have issues outputting 50Hz (seemingly because they're made for PCs first and foremost).
