Why didn't you mention that the reason all of this started was because a Nigerian national killed a South African national when stopped him from selling drugs to a young man. You cannot address an issue without talking about how it started. This is imperative as to understand the cause of any problem.

Many Nigerian have very big vision and are millionaires in the making. Unfortunately, many of them do not care what methods they use to become rich. I see it all around me : drug dealing, prostitution, human trafficking and creating false identity papers - it is all here where I live. Nigerians need to improve their morals to be truly successful. I do not support xenophobia or crime against anybody for any reason - but Nigerians need to clean up their act.

I as a South African have respect for Nigeria as a Nation. It will be important for us to console all Nigeria for the recent activity. equally important will be to address the unequivocal underlying issues contained there. The loss of human life is always dreadful, thankfully someone finally sorted out the rumours of killings. In that vein of decrying loss of human life I wish with all there is that the Nigerian government would help probe into and campaign for the grievances that our fellow South Africa of that particular region handled so carelessly. They went too far in what started as a protest on grievances against Human trafficking, prostitution flares, drug smuggling and so forth, and quite clearly got hijacked by an opportunist criminal element. This is not to blame only Nigerians as I am well aware of and friends with but a handful of Nigerians, out of the many in our civil society. It might be taken lightly by those fuming in anger from the recent attacks, however it is worth considering that youths exposed to drugs are literally being killed in scores. by the age 25 they are rendered ill-equipped to run a stable life of discipline and duty, if they even stay alive that long. Those whose children are lost in human trafficking are left with much more greatly bitter scars, which they have to bare for the remainder of their natural lives. In our fury against the hooliganism practiced by our people of that township, may we use this as the time and anger to address the all the issues surrounding the matter, although they were wrong in taking it to far, May the leaders of Nigeria be enraged by all factors contributing to these fuelled sentiments, and with the same vigour with which we fight Xenophobia and for the rights of foreign nationals, may we equally proclaim their responsibly to the law, remembering the South Africans right to life.

@Ta H, your points are well noted but permit me to say a few things. Those underlying issues/sentiments raised and the failure to address them is an indictment on the South African system. For years now, they've allowed that campaign to go on that Nigerians are drug dealers, I even watched one of their ministers voicing the same sentiments but they forget to note that
      1. Crime has no nationality. There are bad people everywhere as well good people. When you profile a people because of the misdemeanors of a few, it becomes a rallying point and things can quickly escalate. I've been reading a lot of rape and murder cases perpetrated by some people in your country, you sound enlightened, how will you feel if my first perception of you is that of a rapist or murderer? One of the most intelligent doctors I met while in med school in Nigeria is now in South Africa contributing to SA at the expense of Nigeria and it pains me when such person is looked down on in any way.
      2. Crime only thrives when there's enabling environment. From what I've seen, it does appear to me that the SA environment allows those crime to thrive. There won't be drug dealers without drug addicts and that's an indictment of the society and family too.
      3. If we take laws into our hands, we will descend into chaos and anarchy as we've seen. This is why we have the law and instruments for punishing offenders. When such institutions are weak, such scenes as this is bound to occur and this in particular reference to the police.
      4. Nigerian govt is not responsible for the action of her citizens in SA, it is the responsibility of the govt of SA to enforce law and order within its boundaries as much as it is the responsible of Nigerian govt to do so in Nigeria..
      5. At the heart of all this struggle is economics, the struggle for survival. PLO Lumumba did a beautiful exposé on that. It's important that our leaders make conscious efforts to draw her citizens out of poverty, issues like this is unlikely to happen..
Summarily, I subscribe to the pan African ideology and would love to see this sorted out amicably. The diplomatic row this is raising is portraying us in bad light..

      @tah3691 5 років тому

@@emmanuelibeh2851 I take your points, especially number 3. It is not without reason, however, that Nigerians are in the spotlight concerning the criminal acts, I myself have been coerced by Nigerians trying to sell drugs to me on my way back from school (I am not making that up!!) and this is indeed a common experience for many South African youth. No one would just start that rumour and suddenly it becomes a proverb in south Africa, They are blaming the people they see paddling drugs and running brothels and such, getting caught red handed at times Human trafficking, showing impunity and lack of value for South African lives, yet the conversation has been squarely skewed in favour of their rights (which is good) but there is no talk of responsibility, and these cases are well documented, even Nigerian panellists relayed that information.
The Nigerian Government is responsible in that it has an embassy in South Africa for exactly that purpose.
Admittedly South Africans went too far in vandalising their property, however the bigger news is the 20+ if not 15+ Nigerians who have been EXCECUTED!! in Dubai, and no Nigerian bold enough for them, but they are certainly bold enough for the SAn's who did not spill so much as a drop of blood.

Chisco lost 18 mass transit buses in Lagos, Nigeria. Just because his office had the Goodluck Jonathan campaign poster.
People, Nigerians justified it. Chisco is a Nigerian doing business in Nigeria. A Zulu can never do that to a Xhosa. They address themselves as brothers and sisters. You hear echoes of "My brother, my sister".
Same people are now hating on South Africans for burning a Nigerian owned car company. You think they do not know all these? They are laughing at your confusion.
When the rant is over and it will soon be, you wake up and fix your country.
Is it not amazing that you do not find South Africans in Nigeria but Nigerian community in University of Pretoria alone can be one country. I don't want to mention other universities. Most of them are even on STATE sponsored scholarships running their phd's. What I mean is that, the South African government are taking care of their education.
Nigerian lecturers are teaching in South African universities, earning what their counterparts in Nigeria are not earning without any need to impose handouts on anyone.
You are listing Mtn, Dstv and watever, watever. Burn them down and chase Nigerians away from the few employment your government cannot create.
The sad thing is while their government are paying all of them unemployment benefits, paying all their children and providing free health care for them, if you find yourself out of employment, Nigerian government does not help you in anyway. So be careful how you advocate for burning down businesses in Nigeria.
The only place you will find South Africans in Nigeria is at Tb Joshua's synagogue but those are mostly on temporary movement.
Mandela was sick and didn't have to step out of the country for one day because there is no need for that. Can your president trust the clinic in Aso rock to treat his ear problem?
You keep writing that their country was built by whites, were you not governed by whites, why didn't they build yours? Is South Africa the only African country that was colonised?
As for those of you asking Nigerians to come back, you amuse me.
Come back to what? You should channel that energy into telling Nigerians in the North to go back to their regions.
Cure the hate in your country first so that people will take you serious.
You cannot tell them you are different then turn around and scream when you get the treatment being dished out to those who hate themselves.
Some are saying cancel diplomatic ties. What does that even mean? They will drive all your students away from their universities. It is obvious Nigeria as a country does not know her mates in the world. Even Nigerian students and lecturers here will join them and riot against Nigeria.
As for those of you going to destroy Shoprite, if anyone shoots you, remember your parents will shoulder that responsibility because Nigeria has no free health care. Anyone injured in south Africa gets treated in their government hospitals. Keep that in mind while you are doing your "revenge".

I have a friend in SA I called him regarding the killing of Nigerian been killed he confirmed to me that it’s true that the killings are real that he himself is in hiding. So, don’t no why this guys keep lying about the whole thing. It’s unfortunate to see the so call leaders acting like this. Why won’t they learn from western countries. E.g like America. America government will do anything for it citizens when will Nigeria stand up for it own people? It’s unfortunate.

MINISTER PLEASE EXPLAIN TO THE PUBLIC IN DETAIL WHAT IS A "SUBSIDIARY COMPANY THAT EMPLOYS THE CITIZENS OF THAT COUNTRY" AND I'M SURE THEY WILL REFRAIN FROM DESTROYING A BUSINESS WITH A FOREIGN NAME.

    Why is this happening
Blacks every where are being targeted in America, Asia,Europe, Australia and even Africa.
Wow , it unfortunate for blacks to be angry with their fellow cousins just because we speak a different language.
Unemployment rate being high isn't because of foreigners invading but it actually the immediate opposite.
I'm very disappointed that anywhere I go even in my own home with my cousins I feel unsafe.
Africa come together because unity makes us whole. We need to depend on each other if we want to succeed.
America and Europe speck one language that why they have this advantages over us, let look for a language that makes us succeed as well and our language is our color, our pride.
    Love yourselves.

My the Lord repay you and your families ten fold for all the damage you keep doing to our dear country. As you have caused destitution, poverty, hunger , disease, death etc may the God Lord repay and your families ten fold .
