    Thanks for letting us hang out with you for day. Sometimes I miss working on cars. I worked at a Ford dealership just outside Atlanta for 16 years. It would have been nice to have your drive. When I left there my drive was 50 miles each way in Atlanta area traffic.

    • @kregskorner8851

      Was a longer day then normal, had to finish a few things, never enough hours in the day. 30 plus years for me wrenching with Ford, I could not imagine that drive, drove through Atlanta last year around 2 in the afternoon, what a rat race! Have a great New Year Brian!

    So glad I don't live up north anymore (New Haven, IN); especially this time of year! I have a hard time getting motivated after work to go into my model shop, and I'm in bed by 9PM. So most of my modeling happens on my days off (Thursday and Friday), but I'm trying to change that for 2024. Stay warm. Peace and love.

    FCSD was the final stop on my 30 years at Ford, after a lot of powertrain engineering, testing and vehicle development jobs. I was part of setting up a new parts depot network around the country, and the transportation logistics that expedited Dealership warranty and repair parts out to you. Briefly before retiring, I also made sure the supply chain got enough parts shipped into the warehouses or direct to dealerships to handle your volume needs, for some things like pick-up truck tonneau covers and bed liners. The 392 Jeep was interesting, but way too pricey and fuel thirsty! Your Capri is one of the rare later model ones with the unique rear hatch glass. I liked that blue.

      @kregskorner8851  8 місяців тому +1

      Thats awesome Ray, it 30 yrs for me also, would like to retire lol, looks like you had a good run with Ford.. I was surprised on the price of the Jeep, thought it's just a fancy Wangler, found out later was special ordered and is sold.. could buy a Shelby GT500 for that.. The Merc is a 85, I have a 289 stroker in it, was a drag car when I bought it, setting in a barn for 20 years, only had a drivers seat and steering wheel in it, had worked on it for two years to get it road ready, was completely stripped for racing. I left the decals on the fenders, originals from the day..

    My son works at a small Ford dealer in Patterson, Ca. He tells me all kinds of horror stories about cars and truck (and customers) that come in. He gets a LOT of nastry farm trucks caked in mud. We also talked about the little EcoBoost three cylinder in the Escape, the one with the oil pump drive belt that runs through the oil pan. Good times.

    • @kregskorner8851
      @kregskorner8851  8 місяців тому

      That's awesome JD, we se a lot of the mud also, big farm country around here along with the rust.. I had to replace that wet belt before when they first come out, thought a timing belt for the oil pump.. WOW! Have a great New Years!

    Wow, that 392 Rubicon is re-donkulous. Thanks for sharing the day. You certainly see a variety. A great skill. I guess the 9:30pm start for models is where you find the hobby time. And you're working on UA-cam as well. !?!? This video made me tired just watching. I struggle to find the time and energy. Happy New Year!

    Awesome to see your guys days/nights. I do have to say, I work in a trans shop, and I REALLY hate most of the new Ford's! Lol! But they keep us busy! Still a great reminder of why I moved from Illinois, to Florida, I hate rust! Nice Capri!!!! I'm a fox guy myself!

      Thanks Jeff, I'm still working on that Transit, working hours to get the intake off for a knock sensor, bolts for intake rounded off to a point.. I'm over the rust thing.. The ten speeds keep us busy lol. I have had a few ask to do a video on the Merc. I'm going to do a engine pull soon to reseal and install a Holley Sniper set up.. I have a 289 stroker in it with some 2.02 valve heads 5 speed and 3.90 gear, fun to drive..

    Being an old retired guy, disabled and homebound, my day is pretty boring. Get up late (when I feel like it), turn on the UA-cam, do some model work. Eat lunch. More model work. A nap in the afternoon, then up for more modeling. Just takin' it easy. As evening comes I have dinner, then back to modeling and watching UA-cam. (Cancelled the too-expensive TV service) Get to bed around ninish/tenish.
    Next day, rinse and repeat.
    Anybody surveiling me would be bored to death. 😂

    Hey just wanted to say as a new modeler your channel has really helped me so much. I’m currently working on a 66 Malibu SS as my first project. Just a quick question I have a low budget air brush from Amazon I believe it’s the sangud. With a lower tier air brush would you still recommend using the mcw paints and if you could give me a good recommendation on thinning the paint. I hand painted all interior and motor components. Now I just have the body and hood to paint.

    • @kregskorner8851
      @kregskorner8851  7 місяців тому

      Hey Mark, My other airbrush I use is a Amazon Point Zero, I think I paid around 30 bucks for it, I used it for everything, has a .3 needle and sprayed the MCW paints with no problems. You can do a 1 to 1 mix on your paint at about 18 to 19 psi on the compressor. I like using the MCW hardener, it's not a have too, will help dry faster, I like to mix about 5 ml of paint and 5 ml of thinner and if using hardener add around 3ml. I like using the Mr Hobby leveling thinner, found works the best, if your paint is shooting to dry just add about 2 to 3 ml more thinner till you like it, I like using plastic spoons to test on first before I shoot the model.. Thanks for checking out the channel, let me know how it goes..

      @@kregskorner8851 Thank you for the advice man ! Really appreciate it. Just used the airbrush for the first time today with primer. Took some time and adjusting to it but ended up getting the hang of it ! I’m going to take your advice with the paint. I used to build these models when I was a kid with my dad. Now I’m back into it and have a better understanding of it and I’m hooked. Would love to start my own channel and help spread the hobby.
