Best thing to do is tell the keeper and everyone you meet it's your first shoot and you will be well looked after, remember the whole sport has been passed on through knowledge for years and years, don't stress or you won't have fun.
Another informative video. Nothing annoys me more than guns who complain that they didn’t shoot enough birds. It is about the day out and traditions. I don’t shoot as well with a s/s but I always use it on game shoots.
As Aaron rightly says, be open about your level of experience and you'll be well looked after by everyone you come into contact with. For the sake of Shoot etiquette, be sure to take more cartridges than you expect to fire, as running short can be taken as low expectations Additionally, stick to your given peg on each drive and don't wander. Pegs are placed for safe shooting positions, but know your safe arcs of fire and note the position of the other Guns/pegs.
When you´re byuing gear and clothes care less about brands. Buy the best you can afford that FITS you! If some twat recommends a certain brand it may fit him but it might not fit you as well as another brand. Always go with what fits you the best, you are going to spend many hours wearing it, so get it right.
This year will be my first game shoot I have done simulated day and they were amazing. I feel the tip is a little unfair I am student and when I have paid £170 for a simulated day Plus £130 for cartridges I have little spare to tip. I feel £10 should be appreciated as that’s a lot of money to me. You have me worried about my first game day in October as I would only be tipping £20 at the most
I shot pheasant's in the snow storm at a western Maryland farm I had a blast at the age of 14 yrs old. I dressed for the storm and we limited out this was in 1973 .......
David, would you enjoy a hunt without this protocol? Is it part of the fun for you? Here (Greece), you just grab gun, hounds, pals and just go wherever you want.
There's to lots of people the snobs ho do all this stuff then ride home in there Japanese car then there's us grab the gun shoot it and have a relaxing day with pumps and jeans but 500 ponds I'll do what I want
See it's all about money maybe you have brains especially in england when you can't turn the heat on no just come as you are be nice if your with snobs just smile
Shoot nothing under 45%. Don't forget none of them damm silly american rounders hats, not only do they look ridiculous they serve no purpose. Wear boots not wellies. The expensive tweeds aren't always the best, only the most expensive.

Great idea for a video. I like to see how y'all across the pond do it properly.
Brilliant video and thank you.

Tip doesn't matter if you can barley afford to go and money is tight
Would be nice to have one of rough shooting for foxes. What is the correct gun, clothes?

Yes let normality ring use your auto have fun Americans just have fun there not snobs
Are the rules/attitudes different on a beaters day?
Is a 28 bore side by side the most appropriate gun for game shooting?
Thanks for your comment if you would like to email contactus@theshootingchannel.co.uk we can email you back with this.
If you can shoot well
For a 20 bore game day, what choke/ cartridge combination would you recommend?
Half choke is what I used with my old Beretta semi it was a fix barrel and worked wonderful 👍🏼

No need for any of it you pay so much to shoot a few birds be comfortable
It is better to wear cheap and kill more birds then opposite ;)
