WOW!!! I hd not heard this tune in years! forgot how smooth it was. I believe you enhanced it just enough to be different.Taking out the vocals actually makes it better in some ways.
Thank you! Yes, I liked it without the vocoder parts as well. I decided to leave them out, given they were going to take quite a bit more sound construction to recreate with the gear I had back then, and I wasn’t crazy about that part anyway.
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it. ❤ ❤So glad to have dusted this one off and to see people enjoying it. A lot of work went into it, and it was only played live I think six times! Your kind words mean so much to me. Wishing you all the best this holiday season, and for the exciting year ahead.
Thank Stefan, agree credit totally belongs with Art of Noise. Great question though. When I put this together 25 years ago as part of our duo’s setlist, I think I placed an overemphasis on being true to the original songs in general. In fact, I got so close, in the end, people started assuming I was just playing the original tracks on tape! Despite spending as much as a week on a single song, and playing as many parts live as is possible with just two hands. If I were to redo this today, I‘d modernize it, make it unique. Give it a techno beat. Take away parts and let it breathe in different places. But for various reasons, I don’t put this much time into cover songs anymore, preferring to focus on my own originals. There are still a few covers I really like to play in a live setting however, and I will sometimes post those mostly for fun. I actually put this together 25 years ago for an act we spent a lot of time on, "Emotion X". We got booked for a month solid in what we found out after arriving to be a country bar in Watson Lake, BC. Being a dance and alternative act, we were fired after the first week. I was thrilled to be able to get some use of it when I found it a couple years back on a cassette. So, thanks for listening. Long answer to a short comment ☺

Ok last one I think - you're trying to guess a password, and you'll recognize it if you see it as a comment on a video. How'd I do? 🤓

It's good, but only because the original is good, and you've got very close to it. So... how could you take it off in a different direction?
