SAR- Katwijk Demonstration: Police, fire brigade, rescue brigade KRB 2023 rescue services KRB & KNRM

Every year, the Katwijkse Reddingsbrigade (KRB) organizes the international Search and Rescue Event (SAR Katwijk) on the first Saturday of July. In 2023 the Katwijkse Rescue Brigade will exist 100 years. The anniversary will be celebrated with the public on Saturday 1 July during the next edition of SAR Katwijk. SAR Katwijk is one of the largest relief events in our country.
The sound of helicopters, lifeboats of different sizes at sea, a boulevard filled with historic emergency vehicles and an extensive static show: that is SAR Katwijk! A special edition in 2023. The Katwijkse Reddingsbrigade, organizer of the annual emergency assistance event, has existed for 100 years and the association will not let this pass unnoticed.
During SAR Katwijk, extra large will be unpacked to allow the public to celebrate the anniversary.
Together with fellow emergency services, the lifeguards of the Katwijkse Reddingsbrigade (KRB) give the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of the rescue work.
The public is introduced to the rescue work in the broadest sense of the word. There is plenty of spectacle and also attention to the history and innovation of rescue work.
Attendees
Many permanent participants of SAR Katwijk return every year to one of the largest aid events in the Netherlands. This will also be the case in 2023. Lego Incidents City will visit SAR Katwijk for the first time on 1 July. A small disaster city has been recreated with hundreds of Lego bricks, impressive craftsmanship. The incidents in the 'disaster city' are not made up, but are based on disasters that have occurred in the Netherlands.
After several years of absence, the police will be back on the water with the patrol vessel P42. That's not all, the Aviation Police is also present with the EC135.
The historic lifeboat the Casparis also returns to Katwijk for a while. The Casparis was built and was also stationed in Katwijk for a long time.
The helicopters of the Police, North Sea helicopters Flanders and the brand new SAR helicopter of Bristow Group will defy the airspace. The Coast Guard's brand new patrol vehicle, Dash8, will also make a flyby around noon.
The Netherlands Rescue Brigade is again launching the national wristbands campaign around noon this year together with Marshall and Rubble from PAW Patrol. The two made many children happy last year with a high five or a smile on the photo. Rinus Redder of the KRNM and Zeeg de Zeehond, the newest mascot of the KRB, also celebrate the 100th anniversary. Zeeg de Zeehond will show his dance moves at 1 pm and make the children enthusiastic to also come and swim at the KRB.
Renewed event area
Due to the jubilee edition, the event area is larger than other years. The familiar helipad is again located on the South Boulevard where the necessary flight movements will take place. A major accident will be staged on the demonstration site at the Lighthouse. Never before has a demonstration of a helicopter crash taken place, on July 1 you can witness it. The static show has also never been spread over such a vast area, on which various stalls and (historic) vehicles and vessels will be set up. Loyal visitors know that various demonstrations are also given on the beach every year. This year, the demonstration site can be found on the beach near the Evenementenplein.
Renewed program components
Don't want to miss a single demonstration of SAR Katwijk? Which can! All demonstrations will take place twice on July 1. This year, the organization is focusing on large multidisciplinary demonstrations, in which various participants work together to bring aid to a successful conclusion. On the Boulevard, don't miss the helicopter crash! On the beach and at sea, familiar program elements, such as a missing person at sea and drug smuggling, return in a new guise.
'Come and see' is new in the program of SAR Katwijk. Various sailing units and vehicles from, among others, the KRB and KNRM will be able to be viewed up close for young and old.
