Eddie Muller saying "This doesn't make a damn bit of sense!" is invaluable

This is the first time I’ve seen someone question what is really going on in the movie, and I’m here for it!
I doubt if it was intended this way, but I view everything that happens after the opening Alcatraz shooting to be the dying fantasy/dream of the Walker character. Getting shot up and left for dead and then swimming across the bay? Preposterous. Working his way up through the organization and there’s never really anyone to stop him? Far-fetched.

Boorman said in the DVD commentary that what he loved about Angie was that she managed to be both fluttery and feminine yet also a tough broad. That juxtaposition worked wonderfully until the second year of her '70s cop show where she was pressured to tone down her natural effervescent charisma -- and it killed her on-screen confidence permanently (BTW: the first year of her show was actually pretty good).

There are so many Manks that you almost can't call it "nepotism." Joe and Herman just spawned an entire breed.
