Picture Perfect Lake Wanaka, Clay Cliffs & Lake Tekapo | South Island, New Zealand Vlog 3/5
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 гру 2024
- In this vlog we hit up some of the most scenic sights in the South Island of New Zealand. We made the journey from Te Anau, passed back through Queenstown to get to Wanaka and eventually made it all the way to Lake Tekapo. It was a super long day of driving but so worth it getting to see such breathtaking places.
When we arrived in Wanaka we needed a quick refuel so stopped by a lakefront bakery called Doughbin. They had some award winning NZ pies so it was a no brainer for us to eat here before going to see that iconic Wanaka tree!
The Doughbin Bakery
Address: 123 Ardmore Street, Wanaka 9012
Hours: Mon-Sun 6am-5pm
The scenic spots we visited in this vlog were:
1. The Devil's Staircase
We pulled over for a quick stop at this lookout spot on the drive from Te Anau headed to Wanaka. Be careful when you pull over as it is a busy winding road.
2. Lake Wanaka
There's a lone willow tree that's one of the most photographed trees in New Zealand. It's right next to a car park too, so super easy to get to. You need to come on a still day and either very early or closer to sunset to get that perfect snap.
3. Lindis Pass
On the way to the clay cliffs, there's a unique mountainous area that's covered in that classic NZ tussock grass. There are 2 lookout points that are very easy to get to from the carpark. It's a great excuse to take a break from driving and to stretch your legs while soaking in some stunning scenery.
4. The Clay Cliffs
Sometimes known as Omarama Clay Cliffs, these astounding "badlands" came to be around 20 million years ago when they were created out of layers of silt and gravel deposited by ancient glaciers. Wind and rain eroded the landscape leaving amazing pinnacles behind. The clay cliffs are on private land and there's an honesty box at the gate entrance.
5. Lake Tekapo / The Church of the Good Shepard
We weren't originally planning on going to Lake Tekapo on this South Island road trip as it meant adding to our already very long day of driving but we figured we just had to go see it. We're glad we did. We got to catch the sunset over the breathtakingly beautiful turquoise lake with snow capped mountains in the background. In summer you can see colourful lupins in the fields so I think we need to return again in the future! It's worth staying til night time and waiting for the stars to come out as it's the largest gold standard dark sky reserve in the world meaning it's the best place for star gazing.

Thanks Billy 🙂 we got to see so many beautiful places in the South Island! Loved them all but that last lake tekapo was a real stunner 😍👍
That is an amazing church, totally understand why is so famous for photos, the surrounding area, wow!!!
Thanks for sharing all your great photos on IG as well! really astonishing place.
Peter thanks for driving so much!!!
Thanks guys! ❤️❤️ It's just so peaceful and beautiful ay 😍🥰 night time is equally stunning!
I still have yet to watch the movie, it's great seeing how beautiful new Zealand is watching your videos
Thanks Chris! If you watch the movie that captures NZ's beauty tenfold 🤩🇳🇿👍
The South Island never ceases to amaze, does it?
Lots of wonderful memories there for me...
It really doesn't 🤩😍 we'd love to go back again in the summertime perhaps. So many gorgeous places to see and experience 🙂✨
Hahah classic NZ meat pies during road trip. Can't get any better than that!
And the tomato sauce squeeze, only found in Aus/NZ :D
Hahaha we never realized other places didn't have this ingenious little invention but a few people have mentioned it in the comments! Everywhere should have it lol.. such a clever lil design ay 😆👍
Morning guys, your so right Peter, “never ever ever will you go wrong with Mince n Cheese pies”😍. I’m so in awe of NZ💯. Beautiful background even with the Wanaka tree standing alone, wow😊. Open cave......castle👌I’m gonna watch the Mulan movie again now. Thanks guys for those gorgeous views and sceneries, alofa atu 😘😘
Hiya Seliama 🙂👋 right?? Especially if they're supreme pie award winners too 😁👍 NZ never ceases to amaze us too! Can't wait for us to do more trips in the South Island 🤩 Alofa to you too 💞 Have an awesome week! 👋🥰
You guys just visited all the photogenic spots! The tree in the middle of Wanaka lake is iconic!!! We understand why it's so popular. We would love to see it on our own eyes. 😄 The Clay Cliffs are something we have never seen before! Very interesting! And the sunset on lake Tekapo looks incredible! What a nice wrap up of the day. Thanks for sharing, guys. Can't wait for the next episode of this road trip. 👍
Such unique and beautiful spots huh? 🙂 We can't wait to visit South Island again maybe in summertime. Just so many beautiful places to see 🤩 Thanks guys! The next vlog was a pretty chilled out day just staying in Wanaka to take a break after so much driving lol 😅👍
Hi friends! So jealous of the nice weather over there. And now we seriously need to get some meat pies once we go back to Chicago. That one looks perfect. Need to try it with ketchup. Those snowy mountains in the background at 4:05 are picture-perfect. We are also sentimental when we see our city in movies. Haha Clay Cliffs looks so much like Colorado. Beautiful rock formations.
Hey guys! Yea so glad we're past winter and well on our way to summer now 😁🙌 Def gotta add some ketchup/tomato sauce to your meat pies 😆🍅👍 We really wanna visit Colorado one day too.. looks like an amazing place 🤩
The Wanaka tree is cool! Can see why it is such a popular spot to take photos
Apparently it kinda started as a joke but then took on a life of its own 🤣📸🌳
It started as a fence post and took root and is what it is today.
@@PeterandYen
Wow so many awards for that Pie shop, great that you guys got to try, and by seeing the background when Yen's eating, seems like there's many interesting shops next in that street too.
Always a good sign to know you'll get a great pie when its got so many awards! 😁👍
Those pies got me so hungry! You can never go wrong with a pie it's the perfect food for any trip 😋
Especially if it's an NZ supreme award winning pie 😉👌
Hey Peter and Yen!! So great to see you guys on Day 4 of your road trip. What a stunning drive to Wanaka. Love the snow capped mountains in the background near the pie shop. YUM!! Those meat pastries are so good looking. Butters used to love getting then when she was in Australia for 7 months. Perfect spot to get some food before taking on the day!!
Hey girls! We like to believe NZ meat pies beat Aussie ones hands down 🤣 it's a great pie debate between our two countries lolol 😆💕
Stunning stuff 👌. From the magic of the landscape to the magic of a great pie. What more do we need?
To know what it looks like under a car! Oh no we covered that too when Peter drove over our GoPro camera by accident hahahah 😆 at least we know that it can endure a car driving over it now 😅👍 hope you're having an awesome weekend Daryl 😊👋
@@PeterandYen oh no! A lot of equipment malfunctions, from cycle crashes to Evil Knevil style leaps over the Go-Pro that don't work out... It's been a good weekend, did the Manawatu Gorge walk Ashhurst end to Woodville and back around 20kms, all in practice for Tongariro in mid-January. all thanks to your inspiration. :)
That's incredible!! Well done 🤩 summer isn't too far off for your Tongariro adventure 🙂 looking forward to hearing how you find it after you complete it 😁🙌
@@PeterandYen thanks guys. Looking forward to letting you know how it goes 😃👍
*Raaa so much memories! Can't wait to travel again in this awesome country!*
Amazing video!! All the places featured are my favorite places. It was sad to see that Wanaka tree got vandalized earlier this year..hope soon will grow back and gotten stronger..Dark sky reserve at Lake Tekapo is my top 3 favorites of NZ, never seen so beautiful starry sky...Certainly the Devil's Staircase is a must stop for its view.😘
Yeah it is sad 😥 leave the trees alone! The dark sky reserve was just amazing right! Soooo glad we made the long drive to go there one of the most spectacular sights we've seen on this trip.
Awesome willow tree
hahaha that wanakatree hahaha love it!
Haha yea if you get a chance check out the hashtag on Instagram! Tons of amazing photos 😍
Finally that wanaka tree! We never been but gosh that's really empty with not many people. We haven't watch Mulan😭 I heard mixed reviews but definitely gonna watch soon, hopefully on netflix lol
We were there for a lil while and it was even emptier before! In the past it use to see hundreds of people apparently which is just crazy 😅 Yea mixed reviews but we really enjoyed it! 😁❤️
That tree that's growing in the water is really freaking cool and can't believe it's been there for 70 years! We watched the new Mulan movie. Love that some of it was filmed in NZ. The terrain there reminds us a lot of California in some ways. Desert, Mountains, Snow, Ocean.. all within an hour of each other!! LOLOL Those cliffs were absolutely stunning and love the wind/weather erosion to give them their shape!! That Church and the color of the water... magical!! Thank you for taking us with you on this awesome adventure and love you guys to the moon!!
California sounds amazing if it's got such varied scenery too! We'd love to visit there one day together 😍 magical places though huh the clay cliffs and lake tekapo 🤩 thanks girls and take care! Enjoy your week 😊
Great Video. Lake Tekapo and Lake Wanaka were some of our favourite places in New Zealand
Thank you! Yea they're fantastic places 😍👍
I guess ketchup is referred to as tomato sauce. Those pies looked amazing. Your channel is one of the few where I maximize the size of the video to take up the entire screen. Great job as always.
Haha yea 🍅😁 NZ has awesome meat pies! 👍 Aw thank you George! Nz just has the kind of scenery that bigger screens do justice ay? 🙂
Those are some astonishing views from the lockouts.
We would have never open that gate, most likely we would have just turned around if we would have seen a gate closed like that. So, thank you for saying why it was close and where to pay for the entrance.
Yes a castle in Mars, or Star Wars hahhaha as I said on your IG hahaha
It also looks like Utah, in the US.
I'm glad our gate explanation helped! 😁 Are there honesty boxes in US attractions too? Haha yes! I remember your IG comment 😁 quite a few people thought it looked like starwars too. Btw have you seen the mandalorian? We're watching it at the moment 🙂👍 a couple people mentioned Utah too.. Def gotta check it out one day 🤞😊
@@PeterandYen we will watch it later today, I'm intrigued now.
Yes there are in state parks, so you can actually pay your rv stay there 🤯🤯🤯
But if we see a close gate, we just turn around lol.
I don't think a trust box would work in Spain though 🤔🤔
Ahh interesting! How much does it normally cost to park your RV and stay overnight? Seems like the honesty boxes would get full real fast haha 😆 or are they just not that busy or expensive?
@@PeterandYen it depends but state parks can range between $7-20 usd a night
Mulan is def a great story, even though we still haven't watched the newest one, we know we will love it !
I wonder if you guys will be able to spot all the parts that were shot in NZ 😁🇳🇿
@@PeterandYen we will try our best 😊😊
Awesome locations, awesome video and awesome couple, what more could you ask for? Keep up the great work guys!
Aw thanks so much Jeff! It was great meeting you yesterday! 🙂👋 Looking forward to seeing more of your shoots 🤩
@@PeterandYen Thanks! Was awesome meeting you guys :D Looking forward to more videos from you guys :D
So beautiful n serene. 😍😍😍
Beautiful places huh mum 😊 maybe add some of these to your future trips around NZ too 😁👍
Wow 7:55 seriously like in alien's film shooting place! Seriously incredible NZ🙌🏻
Such a cool place right? And to think it formed so many millions of years ago to get those incredible layers 🤩
Love the mountain view in the background on that road where the pie shop is. Really gives the town a nice vibe
It's a real chill vibe in that town! 🙂🗻 Love that in the South Island it's so mountainous everywhere!
Beautiful video guys! I have been through those passes Tara’s & Lindis it was truly amazing, all the mountains were covered in snow. Loved it.
Such a nice area right 😯 glad you enjoyed the video Vinesh 😊🤙
Wonderful place. Very beautiful video. Nice creation. Great work friends.
Thank you! We appreciate the kind words 😊
Pies are still great!
Loved the Mulan movie!!! Liu Yifei💖💖💖
😁❤ it was awesome right! So cool to be able to visit this set location
Yum those pies looked good! I could see the cheese on the outside of the pie. YUM! I bet you are alot fitter now Yen, with all the 'short walks' you have done! I truely did not appreciate the South Island when I visited, I was in high school, and visited many places you guys have visited. So beautiful!
Hahaha yea it's like my exercise going on these road trips! When I'm back home the food belly comes right back 😆👍 South Island is so damn beautiful.. really hope to go back in the summer if we can! 🥰💜
The Clay Cliffs are stunning, guys! Definitely feels like you’re on another planet
Ikr! First time for us seeing badlands with our own eyes and it's just soo cool! Wish we had more time we would've explored more but we were running low on sunlight 😅
Thanks for sharing the cliffs. Never heard of them before 🤷🏽♀️ will add to the list. I enjoy watching your travels, your food reviews (!) and your perspective of our country. Ngaa mini! Btw, great Maori pronunciation too 😊👍🏽
They're pretty incredible ay? 😍 It's like no place we've ever seen in NZ! Thank you for your kind words, really appreciate it! ❤️🙂
And I'm getting tears watching your vlogs! LOL I cycled over the Lin-dis Pass back in the day but was battling a very strong föhn head wind. Those are dry winds blowing from the leeward side of the Southern Alps that makes the place brown, dry and only suitable for tussock to grow.
That would've been such a challenge cycling 😯🚵♂️ such a cool scenery and interesting to learn about the tussock! We were wondering why just that part was so uniquely different 🙂 thanks for the info Pete 👍
@@PeterandYen No probs. Geography 101. All the moisture in those westerly winds falls as rain on the West Coast and in Fiordland and dry by the time it getsto Lindis. I recommend cycling The Rail Trail from Clyde to Middlemarch. It's easy cycling over 3-4 days through spectacular countryside! There are companies (e.g. Trail Journeys) that sort out all the logistics for you
So beautiful ❤thank you very much
Thank you for watching 😁 ✌️
The doughbin, great bakery!! Pity you didn’t get to around the corner in Wanaka and into Glendhu bay, next level scenery in there.
And great to see the church of the good shepherd in there at tekapo.
Ooo what's over in Glendhu bay? We'll have to note it down for next time 🙂👍 Cheers Matt! We just posted a night photo we took of the church over on our Instagram.. loved the night sky 🤩🌌
You guys are amazing. Love your content. Amazing
That's very kind of you, thank you! 🙂
*So beautiful and calming. Loveeee it💕💕💕*
So many beautiful places in the South Island 🤩 and NZ for that matter really! 💞
Your show reminds me of the year I visited the South island in the 1980s.
How gorgeous! I have so many pictures of that tree! 😁😁. Was nice to see it "live". Thanks for sharing this breathtaking place!
Hahaha right? Just have to visit it if you're in Wanaka lol 😆👌 isn't it cool that is used to just be a broken branch and used as a fence post? 🙂
Magnificent view along the way. Very beautiful lake. Love your content.
Thanks Thu 🙂 South Island and these places are all a must visit if you ever come to NZ 👍😊
The horses were so awesome! Let's see what you guys have in store for us today 😍☺
Hope you enjoy it guys 😁🤞
Love how you guys pronounce all the te reo place names right!
Thank you Terri! We try our best and want to keep improving 🥰🙌
Que lindos paisajes muestran de ese pais maravilloso Tuve la oportunidad de conocerlo junto a mi hijo Amo la musica que acompañan sus viajes !!!!
Gracias Geraldine 😁👋 glad you enjoyed it! 💞
Another amazing video. Simply beautiful. Well done guys!
Thank you so much Jorge! 🥰🥰👋
4:41 very cool cinematic 👌🏻
Yeah we have watched Mulan and loved it and yeah so proud! that Cliffs is cool, so lucky you guys got to witness the set! not sure why reminding us also with the cliff scene from The Monkey King lol
It's such an epic place those clay cliffs! Wish we had more time there.. it's quite a large area but it does start to get quite steep towards the top. Just incredible how it formed over millions of years to get those amazing layers 🤩
"There's going to be a lot of driving today", not that it is any of a problem there in NZ with incredible views! Pie for roadtrip snack is awesome!
Thatwanakatree - lol so cute!! That background though omg!!
Oh gosh, the camera under the car, poor GoPro, super cool effect! though I felt like I got ran over by a car haha!!
Hahaha it did look really cool ay? 😂 Now we know a GoPro can survive a car driving over it 😂👍 yea driving around in NZ you get so many beautiful views but it's dangerous roads.. people are often distracted by the views so there tend to be a lot of accidents plus sometimes people don't stick to their lanes or overtake safely etc etc so just gotta be extra careful here!
Wow amazing spots for pics! Can’t go without a pie or 2... You guys must be tied
Hey bro 😁🤙 yeah we were pretty tired after this one but totally worth it. Definitely just needa bite the bullet sometimes and go for it
Huge support for your groovy channel friends !! 🙏🏻
Thanks guys! 😁💞
Lindis Pass is definitely a drastic change of scenery! Snowy mountains to more dry - kind of like if you were to go from Colorado in the US to more south
It's awesome having that switch up in views ay! We'd love to visit Colorado one day 🤞🙂
Another awesome vlog crew, loving the road trip. Churr. 🤙🏽
Cheers Rob! Glad you're enjoying the vlogs 😁🙌🇳🇿
Wow look at all those awards for that pie shop! Still funny for us to hear ketchup called “tomato sauce” 😂
Hahaha we call it both 😁🍅 I love how others in the comments like the ingenious packets that you fold.. didn't realise that it wasn't a common thing elsewhere 😅
always a great vlog of you guys! it makes me miss NZ even more
Thank you Yaumil 🙂 glad you enjoyed the vlog! Hopefully travel can resume in the not too distant future and you can return to NZ 🍀🤞🇳🇿
That scenery is a dreamy place
After 3 hours of driving... (I spot a fish and chips place, hope you ate there🤣 )
That cheese pie sounds crispy and flaky out there
Nothing like drive snacks
We were gonna eat at that fish and chips place actually but yea ended up elsewhere 😅 the pies were yum as though!
Yo guys!! I have been enjoying your South Island series so much.
I can see why you said it feels different between South Island and North Island. I would say I love South Island scenery a tiny bit more from North Island, but it can definitely change. Since I never been to North Island and my opinion still can be changed of course once I have the opportunity to visit North Island one day! haha
Haha omg #thatwanakatree lol
We were thinking to go there last time but too bad need to scrap the plan. Thanks for sharing your experience with us here.
I can see it would look absolutely stunning during sunset, and take a photograph of that tree with minimal lighting 😍
Thanks guys! Yea South Island scenery is gorgeous.. it's so dramatic and mountainous 🤩 North Island is very hilly and green, loads of beautiful beaches 🙂 Both beautiful in their own right for sure! You'll just need to come back to NZ again to decide for yourself hahaha 😉👍
Still haven't watch Mulan 2020 :P But the scenery is insane!! Private land, but Peter just going in anyway, oh you can manually insert the money, wouldn't be the case here if it's in Malaysia, people will just enter without paying, or probably take the unguarded money lol!!! the clay cliffs look incredible!!
Gosh! Total 8 hours of drive!! Whoaaaaa the lake looks beautiful! There's a dark sky reserve??? I bet the night would look really beautiful too! 😍 😍 😍
Lolol that's so sad if people steal the money.. not paying is already bad enough 😅 lucky we had some notes on us coz we rarely carry cash these days but hopefully people who see this vlog will be prepared 🙂👍 yea it ended up being something like 13 or 14 hours of total travel that day I think by the end! 😅 The dark sky is incredible there! Peter tried some night time photography for the first time so will be posting it to Instagram later 😁🌌⭐
Those pies looked super good! Yumm 😋 That Wanaka tree 😆 Yes! I saw Mulan, it was awesome! I heard it was filmed in NZ so I kept trying to look out for the resemblance. Nice look out point! Very trusting pay booth 😅. Wow! Looks like Cappadocia! I didn’t even know that existed in NZ, unexpected landscape. True! It is quite different to the North Island. So was this rocky place used in Mulan? 8 hour drive. Damn, that’s long. Beautiful views again 😍
They were yum! Loved my lil mini ones too lol 😁 yea so cool a lot of it was filmed in NZ ay? Looked epic! Yea the clay cliffs was in the scene with few phoenix I believe and like when Mulan comes face to face when the "witch". We'd love to go to Cappadocia one day! 😍 Yes it was a very long day hahaha filled with a lot of beauty tho ☺️
@@PeterandYen Ohh I remember that witch scene! I totally thought it didn’t look like NZ! But now I guess it does haha!
we need a Doraemon magic door now! so jelly with you guys...haha
Hahaha that would be the ultimate way to travel! 😆👍
If only i can move to South Island 😅😁
It's just so beautiful right?? 😍 I can't wait for us to go back again!
such a nice drive and the views always so good! Pretty sure aus pies are better
😂 So cool the tree just sitting there in the water lol! Are you able to swim to it and climb it? the camera got rolled hahaha. what a huge a difference of scenery at Lindis pass! still looks so amazing! "those coney things"
😂 are unbelievable, really does feel like landscape from Mars. This ep has had soooo many awesome and scenic locations, truly magical!! makes me want to visit even more!!
Hahaha the great pie debate continues 😂 not allowed to climb the tree lolol but you can actually just walk out to it pretty sure! Would imagine the water is very cold though 😆 Lol when I saw Peter run over the camera I was like o dear there goes our GoPro 😅 but it survived so now we know it can withstand a car driving over it 😂👍 I'm so bad with vocab!! I was looking for the word pinnacles but only came up with coney things.. not even clay spikes or something 😅 hopefully that bubble opens and you guys can make a trip over here to check these places out for yourselves 😉💞👍
I wonder how that tree got in there 🤔 It's definitely perfect for photos!
It was a broken branch from another willow tree used as a fence post initially! 🙂
Love it
Thanks Ronit! Glad you enjoyed the vlog 🙂👍
Now i know Mulan was directed by Kiwi.. and damn.. Lake Tekapo is so pretty.. I love..
Amazing right? 🙂
Thanks for teaching me a new way to squeeze the tomato sauce! Oh they call ketchup here right hahaha! Love you guys video!
Haha glad you enjoyed it and learnt something new too 😆👌🍅
excellence
😁👍
Lindis Pass looks like Central California or in the U.S. Southwest; arid, desert-like, and brown scenery.
Yea so diverse in NZ ay. Interesting to know it's like parts of the US too!
Un abrazo desde Chile
🙂🇨🇱 greetings from 🇳🇿👋😁
I remember similar “tomato sauce” packets in Australia.... the ingenious design on all you do is fold them in half and they break open! So much easier than here in the US where you have to tear open the packets. The pies look delicious... just not sure about the “mince meat” filling. What is mince meat in NZ? Beautiful and diverse scenery!
Hahaha it is an ingenious lil packet huh 😁👍🍅 no getting dirty fingers from the sauce! The pies are great in NZ especially if they're supreme award winners 😁👍 it's mince beef btw 😊 yea so gorgeous the views huh 🤩
@@PeterandYen I misunderstood the mince and cheese pie with “mincemeat”.... now that I know the filling is minced beef, the pies you two had are making me want to eat a few of them! Here in the US, the term mincemeat is a mixture of chopped dried fruit, distilled spirits and spices with no real meat! Sort of like chopped up fruit cake.... so not quite edible to me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love meat pies so I gotta have some from NZ!
Hahaha I can see why that would've been disconcerting to you 😆 that doesn't sound all that appealing 😆 nah NZ pies are so good especially if they're Supreme award winners and even better if they win multiple awards or years 🤩👌 gotta try them next time you're back in NZ 😁👍
Aye... I don’t know if I should even be admitting this... but I too lost some moisture in my eyes during Mulan...except for me it was during the animation version when Mulan finally climbs the pole. Yes, a cartoon made me weepy!!! I have no idea why, but hit me straight in the heart😢 Beautiful vid guys...and hope the camera is okay! Aye yaaaaaa😮
Hahaha 🤣 I love it Hans! It's always nice to have a good cry once in awhile 😁👍 that scene is awesome!! I (yen) get waterworks with scenes where great obstacles and adversities are overcome and a person is victorious thanks to their hard work and dedication so can totally relate!! Peter also cried when Akagi in slam dunk kept playing even though he had sprained his ankle lolll 🤣👍 that camera is awesome lolol so durable and now we know what it looks like under a camera and tire hahaha 😂
@@PeterandYen I actually gasped when the car hit the camera and thought “please please be a GoPro!!” Glad it’s ok!!! Yeah, those overcoming adversity through hard work and sacrifice movies always get me... I just rewatched the Mulan cartoon/climbing to the top part about an hour ago, and damnit... I started to get all😢... I’ve watching anime a lot lately - will have to add Slam Dunk to the list (should I get the tissues ready?). I heard Kimetsu no Yaiba is another one that will make some 😭
Hahahahaha I did the same as I saw Peter knock it over and then drove right over it 🤣🤣 we were glad it was ok.. it's captured some great stuff for us that lil GoPro 😆👌👍💕 Ooo we love anime! If you like basketball then yea Slam Dunk is a classic and a must! 😁 I've heard demon slayer is good but just wasn't able to get into it.. we were watching other great anime at the time though so kinda just dropped off unfortunately! What's on your playlist at the moment? Attack on Titan is prob my fave and Peter's is Kingdom (also awesome!!) 🤩
@@PeterandYen The amount of abuse GoPros can endure is amazing... not to mention the impressive images that come from such a small camera. They really have come a long way. When you guys get a chance, google “very first GoPro.” A friend of mine brought one out surfing a long long time ago. It looked horrid... like a disposable camera strapped to his wrist. As far as recent playlist, I watched a vid titled “The Immersive Realism of Studio Ghibli” not too long ago, and it got me back watching Spirited Away. Trying to watch it in Japanese without subtitles to help with my language studies:) Can’t believe that film is almost 20 years old... man time flies.
Hahaha I saw that recently! It really was such a bulky unrefined design but so cool how it's evolved 😁👍👍 studio ghibli films are the best 🥰❤️ I watched this documentary on Hayao Miyazaki a few months back where this one guy just followed him around for years documenting his work process and interviewing him etc. It was intriguing to watch and listen to a living legend like that 🙂 Is spirited away your favourite ghilbi film? There's so many incredible ones ay? 🤩
The clay cliffs really do look like you're not in New Zealand anymore! It looks a bit like you just walked onto a movie set haha
It does right?? Just such a change and something incredible that took millions of years to form 😍
Clay Cliffs is a hidden gem....in a way I hope it stays hidden! If you want another 'tree' without the millions of tourist, there's another spot....'shhhh.....'
There must be a few more like it around ay.. hopefully we'll stumble across one in the future 🤫🙂
It wasn't sunset but you got an awesome shot..
Thank you 😊✌ it's a beautiful spot for sure can see why it's so popular
How did the tree grow from a seed in a lake...?
It started as a fence post over 80 years ago. Back then there was a fence line on a farm but this particular post started growing! The area has since been encroached by the lake and/or sunk because of seismic activity. Willow trees are often planted on NZ farmland to stabilize land from erosion. They love wetlands. ua-cam.com/video/NfiKVAZne58/v-deo.html
It was grown from a broken willow branch and used as a fence post originally apparently!
Yen I love your black pants in the intro!
Thank you Alli! They're really comfy lol 😆👍
my dream is to live one day in the wanakas :3
Nice
Thanks 🤙

STOP ......STOP......STOP. you are taunting me , as you know i cannot travel because of the pandemic , so cruel of you both. haha. yep i think it will be a 3 month trip next time as i loved all three places you went to. another great vid. that we have become used to. please dont stop really as loving them all. take care both of you yeah .
