Dear Teacher Mike, l can never imagine you saying something rude, because you are so honest, so sincere, so human in your relation with us and in your teaching us, we your students. I liked your lessons when I saw how much effort you put to help us learning English and what great benefit we gain from your way of teaching. Moreover, it is a pleasure to listen to you doing your great job. You are an exemplary teacher and l am well placed to say that as l am a French teacher and l am 74 years old. Thank you so much and Go on !

I'm seeing the video at 1.5x speed😀 and I think I can understand about 95% what you said.
So I wonder why it is too difficult for me to keep a conversation, I actually can't find the right words to say even I know them.
I read books in english, I take many courses about my proffesion in English, but I don't know why I can't talk with confidence.
Greetings and about the topic of the video, you were very honest and clear, I also believe that depending on the culture they possibly got a different impresion.

Thank you Teacher for your time sharing these videos. You are helping us a lot .
You're right . I live surrounded by many American English speakers and I understand them better now. I think my understanding is getting better because of the practice of listening to them. It's not easy of course and sometimes very frustrating but like you say , listening practicing etc. I don't think you were rude. Just direct. It's true our cultures are different. Thanks again 36:08

Thank You very much for this great, very informative, valuable lesson! I'm watching this live video for the second time, because I just have noticed, that I didn't wrote a comment month ago on You Tube. Watching this excellent video still gives me much pleasure and satisfaction by Your amazing explanation,
Your constant patience and respect to the learners, even if they are not always polite and don't accept all of Your advice!

    The era of emotional incontinence.
In this era, being fragile, vulnerable and incompetent is celebrated as "stunning and brave".
People form entire identity communities around being unable to process social anxiety and social hierarchies.
Students who study English abroad and have their visa paperwork done by agencies are particularly horrible to deal with.
They behave like customers, not students.
Even though they invest money and time on relocating to an English speaking country, they expect to be babied. They are under the impression they can level up CEFR levels after a mere 50 hours of passively sitting at a classroom sifting through textbooks and talking to classmates with accents.
Krashen used to talk about the "affective filter" in language learning.
If you say "stop complaining" to a paying customer, aka a language school student, they'll take it up to their counselor, their agency, they'll demand a refund, they'll blame everyone except themselves when they can't pass a job interview after one week of playing "2 truths and 1 lie" with the be verb.

We live in strange times, this is a generation of weaklings who get upset about anything. Unfortunate.
