This Adventure Took Us to a Totally Unexpected Location - Kgari Island

- Previously on our Australia adventure, Regena and I began our tip by meeting up with our good friends Marco and his family, Justin from Patriot Campers and his son Christian and his girlfriend Sara. We drove four well-built overland vehicles to beautiful K’Gari Island where we were welcomed by Traditional Owners with a smoking ceremony and learned about the three laws of the land. We spotted several of the island’s infamous Dingos, being careful to keep our distance from these predators. We got familiar with the vehicles we’ll be driving on the beach…vehicles with steering wheels on the right side. And we explored the features of the brand new, next generation Patriot Campers trailers that we’ll call home for the next several days. We setup camp, ate some great food and enjoyed some good laughs together. We are excited to spend the next few days exploring K’gari, the largest sand island in the world which is renowned for being one of the most beautiful places in Western Australia. Today, we will be heading north and deep into the heart of the island’s rainforest to see if we can find some of the magical places we’ve heard so much about.

😂 I wish we could have stayed forever! Brad managed to drag me onto the plane, but another visit to Australia is definitely in our future...and he might not get to the airport next time! 😉
People slam for putting pineapple and beetroot in our hamburger, but you can't beat it, also if ever you try Vegemite, put it on thin and mix the butter with it 👌😁🇦🇺

We used to call Veggiemite "Axle grease" around the kitchen table as kids. Butter to VM ratio is critical though, and easy to get wrong!!! 😂
This certainly looks like the trip of a lifetime. And when Regina mentioned "when I used to drive ambulances in Japan..." it just made me realize how much LIVING you guys have done. Truly envious.
We saw you both at the Flagstaff Expo in May. I told Regina how much I admired her courage to get behind the wheel during challenging times. This is another one. Thank you for your inspiration Regina. I have yet to drive my husband's FJ and in September we will be picking up our newly built out Ford Transit van in Vancouver, WA. Wish me luck in learning how to drive that as well.

Great video Brad and Regina, I was telling Marco last week that it seemed just like a couple of months ago you were with Justin and his family in the anza borrego and you guys talked about going to see Australia and now here you guys you did it. No beets? 😂😂 I love beets. On deployments we had plenty of T-rat beets. I encouraged everyone to eat them claiming that this is what the manna from heaven actually was. 😉
Reminds me a little of the Scripps Ranch forest prior to the Cedar Fire. I used to take my Jeeps on the dirt road there for a quick test of new parts.
We were living in Poway during those fires, remember them well.
I always love seeing rare places. That would be awesome to see for the first time.

Every time I see the Nissan flatbed I want to remove the bed and put the camper he’s pulling on in it’s place. I think it would open a new market for them. As always you make great adventure videos.

You can polish jewellery with the sand on lake Mckenzie beach - the water in there is 400,000,000 years old purified through the sand - there are ironwood logs from Fraser Island still going strong in parts of london docks in the uk - bit of trivia 😂 next you guys must go to Moreton island also superb.

That's how many lakes in the America's looked before agricultural run off. But with no agriculture on the island and the way they have preserved it it is incredible.

As an American, Vegemite is certainly different. It almost defies explanation. The Aussies certainly have interesting food combination.

Dude ... South African's were raised on the stuff. We never had the brand name Vegemite .... but we have had Bovril, OxO, Marmite ... and one other old brand name I forgot.

you should've had the beetroot as it's pickled beetroot it's like a milder version of a pickle and doesn't taste like dirt at all like beetroot does.
i wouldn't touch boiled or roast beetroot but i'll eat pickled beetroot on burgers and in salad no problem at all.
vegemite is spent brewers yeast from beer making with salt and vegetable extract added.

I had the pleasure to visit a couple cities in Australia for a few weeks: Cairns and Sydney. Vastly different, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. Would love to take another vacation to Cairns.

Vegemite and Marmite are good as ingredients for cooking, glazes on barbecue for instance.
I love how everyone online gripes about the Grenadier’s 90L fuel tank being too small for a touring 4x4 in Australia… meanwhile the guy who runs patriot campers is rolling a Ram TRX with a trailer. Prob getting 5MPG, yet no one is giving him a hard time. 😂
Yeah I agree, 4wd 24/7 in US doing Moab, and Shaun's car looks like a toy car compared to their awesome Trucks (as they would say haha) and these guys doing Australia 🦘. Welcome back anytime, loving it ❤ They'd love Cape York , Simpson Desert and Gibb River Road. Haven't met our corrugations yet 😂.

Another great video that makes me jealous of you all getting to drive/camp in these places I've only seen on video. Only thing i didn't like(and it is extremely minor) is the self level camera in the windshield of the black 79. Just a bit weird seeing the truck visually pivot around the point of view. Again...extremely minor thing to not like. Can't wait to see the next part, see what happens to the one rig and see how it gets fixed. Thanks for sharing the adventure with us.

Hey Brad. I am a massive fan of the channel, and you have inspired many adventures pf my own with my son. You are right, K’gari (Fraser) island is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I can attest to it as I have been there a couple of times myself. But just a quick correction, the island is in Queensland NOT Western Australia, and it’s off the East Cost of Australia. :) BTW - that was waaaayyy to much Vegemite for your first try. You have to put a very slight spread on at the beginning buddy. :)

Brad, this just occurred to me. Usually the scientific community, industry etc get all the accolades for innovation and advancement. But you are part of a fast growing worldwide community that is also pushing the limits of Humanity itself. Each video you and Regina display the exact human traits the world needs to focus on right now, to help swing the pendulum BACK to sanity, goodness, common sense, growth and Love for all. I cannot stress enough how the Overlanding community displays these traits, and more. Brad, Justin and Marco, you fellas and your families give me hope for the future. In your own unique ways, you are leaders, innovators, teachers, guides and entertainers. As the world is being systematically destroyed, this channel reveals where honesty, truth, friendship, adventure, growth and Love can be found. All of this sparked from an Idea you had, about Jeeps and off road adventures... Look WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.... Well Done!
