I believe that's identical. The only difference is that you have an infinite number of parallel channels and only 8 sends. Another benefit of parallel tracks is you can solo them. A benefit of send channels is that any number of tracks can share the same send.
UPDATE: I decided to try it out on a project I’m currently working on, and just like that, this technique is now added to my mixing routine. What a difference!

I saw this tutorial a few days ago, really liked it, and was curious about something. Is is possible, when creating parallel channels further down the effects chain, to have those effects stack up? For example, I have a bassline and created a parallel channel with a delay and mixed it in. I want to add a chorus to the mix to give it some more presence but even though the chorus channel is a parallel created from the delay line, there is no delay in the chorus signal. Would this be a situation where i'd need to put both effects in the same channel or route the cables differently on the back?
The short answer is no. You can't stack effects because each parallel channel uses the OG dry signal. You'll need to add the chorus after the delay on the same parallel channel.

This is probably the best tutorial on YT Excellent.
Good tutorial however all but one device was 3rd party VSTs, I'd like to see how people can use Reason 12 stock devices more to do similar tasks.
bro, there is synths, eq, reverb and delay in reason. Portal was only that you need to create your self with modulation in syth.

Very nice and easily replicated with reason stock devices. I tend to use splitters and line mixers so will try a combi patch with this approach.

Really great advice for us Reason Users! Thanks matey
Wow, that’s very clever and useful. Yeah, I need to watch more videos about paralleling.
What would influence your decision between using parallel processing for reverb vs. using a send?
I'd like to know this also, how is it different from using a Send FX? To me the outcome demonstrated here is pretty much the same..?
Cheers fella, appreciate the tutorial.
Very nice and very hands-on, Reasonstudios. More like this please and def more by this producer please, thank you!
Awesome stuff! 💯 Gonna totally use this in the future productions. 💪🏼
Nice! A good Reason DnB tutorial!
Never thought of using a bitcrusher (?) to add white noise in a parallel channel of a drum track to add energy. Amazing tip
Great vid…Nice to see Portal in there too ❤️
nice didnt know about parallel process and always double track and device to do same. thxx
I kept hope you will play it all at once processed :D
great technique big up
thank you for this tip, using this in ableton
Thanks for sharing this! I always Parallel in Logic Pro. Didn’t know it was an option in reason!
Can't you do all this with the mixer send/returns? Is there a sonic difference?

What does the bus do for the parallel channels? Learning the technical pieces.
parallel processing is really powerful.
Also wish the eq's in reason had more db slopes.
cant you just throw in an endless amount of eq's to solve that problem
@@yellowlinks true :)
but easier to update the eq's :)

bonkers, this helps thank you
I Will create Music in reason all day at home today :-) i Will surely play around with this :-)
I'm curious why you would ad an eq, when the channel strip has an amazing eq and pass filters.
Do the effects from the original track carry over to the parralell tracks?
Is there a special reason why you use the Fabfilter instead of using the filters of that channel?
I guess the slopes mostly.. I would use the channel eq a lot more also if there would be more slope options for the LPF and HPF.
@@SynthStreet Dont you want to see Reasons own devices being used instead of so many VSTs?
Did he actually explain what a parallel channel was? Presumably it's just duplicating the audio, but we can now add other fx, and A/B mix them?
Is there a way to do parallel compression on a parallel processed channel so I can make the reverbed track duck when the main vocal is playing?
So if i use the mix or dry/wet knob in a plug-in in the insert, ain’t that parallel processing anyway?

Are you able to share your ValhallaRoom presets?
Can you do a video on how to delay compensation? There's this free RE VMG-01 sample delay but I have no idea how to use it.
Is parallel same as sends?
can't you do this with the "wet" mix? Same thing.
Is there a difference between using the "create parallel" command and just copying the track?
You won't have to do every change twice.

seriously mate, that`s 2 or three OS` further. So just wait for the christmas sale and update to v12 on low cost.
Sounds not like a regular compressor. It feels like really squeezing the waveform. 😄👏
Why are you making a parallel channel, why not use aux send for reverb?
To my ears it sounded best with only the first compressor parallel Channel added.
I do all that inside Kong.
