but he can reroll devil deals (most importantly) and the free item rooms. he only did that once, but the d6 is still potentially better than butter bean 2
you get one reroll on a devil deal if it even has items in it. vs the ability to wreck every reroll machine until something really good shows up. also you don't have unlimited health to spend on devil deals. being able to increase the value you get from your money is way preferable to gambly 1 reroll bets on devil deals you most likely can't afford anyways as blue baby.
"Ankh is useless" Blue baby "Pay to play is 15 cents" Gives 5 cents when you buy it *Has infinite shop rerolls* Replaces it for D6 *Has practically infinite bombs* Doesn't look for secret room after saying he should *Takes adrenaline, regardless of having perthro and it being completely useless without red hearts* *Still doesn't realize the locusts only spawn when entering a hostile room and that they are useless on greedier*
He had 1 Key and 2 item rooms already opened so he only needed 2 more keys. 2 keys = 10 coins. Pay to Play = 15 coins -5 you get back +1 for each item room to open = 12 coins at that point. First shop PtoP = 15-5+5 = 15 coins for 5 item rooms. Or 14 for 4 item rooms. Keey in mind that you can still buy 3 cents key (3x5=15) and/or find them on the floor/bombing something.
it looks like all locust arent actually well coded for Greed mode, Locust of Conquest is suposed to give you from 1 to 5 flies peer room, but it looks like it doesnt count the greed mode counter for it
Any locust spawns flies on the entering of a new hostile room. If you enter a passive room, such as Greed Mode's main room, and then make it hostile after having entered it, you will receive no flies.
Michael Nee were items like that in afterbirth and were rebalanced so they would work on greed mode, and its not every hostile room, but every non visited/finished room, same as Mama Mega
It IS every hostile room, or more specifically, entering any room with an enemy. Again, rooms that do not have enemies upon entry do not spawn flies. So Boss Rush, Arenas, and Greed Mode spawn virtually no flies. Other items may have gotten a Greed Mode rework, but locusts did not.
hey nl, just wanted to thank you for your videos, you cheer me up soo much with your great character and you help me A LOT through tough times i'm having at the moment. seriously, thank you
Can blow up every mushroom and skull and look for secret rooms- doesn't. On the Depths: 'We should be looking for secret rooms, absolutely, it's a mistake from earlier'- doesn't. *sigh*
I like greedier mode so this is a bit bittersweet. At least it went out on a good run. Now we spend eternity with Eden who presents very little challenge for our dear egg.
any other character can ALSO buy those spirit hearts, though... ANYONE can buy 3 spirit hearts for 15 cents. egg, your value theories on greedier mode are actually getting worse
How about in the future we get one greed mode run a week? Like, every tuesday one of the two daily episode is greedier. I think that strikes a good balance between normal runs and greedier runs.
Pumpkin Warrior Yeah, I'm glad he's finished with them for now, Daily's are gonna take him a bit though. But, once he gets 10000000 or whatever he'll probably just go back to Eden/Random runs
Transformation idea: EX. Maggie EX grants tons of health and regen. Samson EX gets the Guardian Spear and a huge attack boost. Azazel gets full Brimstone and it becomes Maw of the Void in its effect. The way to initiate them: pick up 3 items unlocked by that character.
"we're going to work towards Beelzebub" "we're going to reroll Jar of Flies" WITHOUT PICKING IT UP. EVEN THOUGH IT GIVES US BEELZEBUB. That one hurt, man.
The locust items are fantastic on normal runs, for instance locust of conquest is normally a passive guppy's head, however they don't activate on greed mode.
'Final' Greedier ends with you having a strat (though relying on huge range). Your faith wavered, but you clenched the win just the same. Well done. I'm sure you're looking forward to Bethany, Jacob&Esau, etc. being eventually put into this mode.
Locust of Conquest only takes effect when you ENTER a room with enemies, and spawns around 2 flies per enemy. Useless in greed/greedier, insane in normal Isaac because they do 2x your attack. Locust of Death does 4x, and, at least i think it spawns "locusts" when you kill something.
Hello! Your videos are awesome and I do not comment much but I had to say something this time. The right-hand wall in the shop for Greed mode never has a secret room. It is the left wall. You keep bombing the right wall and wasting bombs. Greed mode only has the 2nd secret room so you are looking for single border options. Left of the shop room. Left of the Curse room. Left of the floor-down room. Right of both treasure rooms. Good-luck and good seeds to you. Always love seeing the Guppy BS you seem to get so lucky with.
NL. Man, the amount of times I bang my head off of the desk watching you just run into enemies is a severe risk to my health. So I am gonna start cutting instead.
Greed/Greedier mode : buy only these items that will help you on the way to ultra greed, invest rest of the money in red/spirit hearts. Once you understand you will get the unlcoks.
None of the locusts really work on the greed mode waves. Since their spawn condition is like "at the start of a room with enemies" or "at the end of a room with enemies" and the waves aren't counted for whatever reason, probably to keep conquest from being a constant guppy head.
I think people forget that pay to play gives 5 cents when you pick it up. He was right not to take it because he already opened 2 rooms and is holding a key, but pay to play is not that bad in greeder if you've only opened 1 door and have 0 keys.
Holy shit, Egghead accidentally made a great play with the Fortune Teller! (The "Luck" stat has nothing to do with your odds on it, just "Lucky Foot".)
locust trinkets spawn flies when you enter a room with enemies. waves don't count. all locust trinkets don't work on greed(ier) mode(unless you enter a room with flies)
Pay To Play gives you 5 cents so its really only 10. Depths, Womb, and Sheol = 3 cents for all doors, so a total of 13 cents. 5 for a key on those 3 floors is 15 cents. So if you never got the key on Caves it would have been a total for 14 instead of 20.
Yo NL, the locust trinkets spawn a fly every time you enter a room with enemies. Since you enterthe fighting room in greed mode only once, it just makes one fly. Basically, locust trinkets are trash on GREED MODE. Otherwise, they great.
There's something amusing listening to NL explain why 3 spirit hearts for 15 cents is so good. Yeah dog I'm sure on the first episode you played of ??? you explained how HP upgrades are basically one spirit heart. It really shouldn't be the other way around.
Pay to play costs 10 cents (15 minus the 5 it gives you). A key costs 5 cents. If you are going to need more than 2 keys it is worth it, and if you need 2 more keys then it probably isn't because you might get them elsewhere or on the cheap, but it still may be worth it because if you have enough money to buy a second item afterward, it is an item cycle
NL had an attack fly and an opportunity to get pause and he bought a locust instead. Does NL know that pause is one of the most op items in the game if you have nearly any form of passive damage?
Curse of the blind is very unfortunate in greed mode, not knowing your hp can be dangerous and can stop you from taking deals, black candle on blue baby is pretty useful
:/ Says, he should work towards the Beelzebub Transformation; does not pick up jar of flies. Had to check the wiki thinking maybe I was wrong and it didn't apply towards the transformation.
I know we're unlikely to see many more greed runs, but AFAIK, secret rooms don't ever appear to the right of the shop. I've never seen it myself at least and I've seen Ryan trying to bomb that side way too many times!
pay to play math: You pay 15 cents for the item and 1 cent per item room. You gain 5 cents off the bat and save 5 cents by not buying keys. So base (open no rooms) you lose 10 cents, then for every room you open you make a profit of 4 cents. So if you still have 3 items rooms left you make a profit. (other keys kinda screw this up a bit but you can sometimes use those on chests and those will probably give you something usefull) tl;dr: Buy pay to play if you still have 3 or more itemrooms to open (unless you have more than 3 keys)
This man, NL. Has an item that gives him rerolls until the machine breaks, buys d6 to reroll. MY brain melted.
Halfwing
The machine doesn't break that rarely, it could have been even the next reroll
Right but thats still 15 less cents for the next reroll, plus he gets items for it breaking sometimes.
but he can reroll devil deals (most importantly) and the free item rooms. he only did that once, but the d6 is still potentially better than butter bean 2
you get one reroll on a devil deal if it even has items in it. vs the ability to wreck every reroll machine until something really good shows up. also you don't have unlimited health to spend on devil deals. being able to increase the value you get from your money is way preferable to gambly 1 reroll bets on devil deals you most likely can't afford anyways as blue baby.
yeah i still wouldn't have taken d6, but it's not as totally stupid as the guy was making it seem
-Playing as blue baby
-Come across the ankh
-Free respawn into the character you're already playing if you die
-"Actually useless"
GDI EGG
"Ankh is useless"
Blue baby
"Pay to play is 15 cents"
Gives 5 cents when you buy it
*Has infinite shop rerolls*
Replaces it for D6
*Has practically infinite bombs*
Doesn't look for secret room after saying he should
*Takes adrenaline, regardless of having perthro and it being completely useless without red hearts*
*Still doesn't realize the locusts only spawn when entering a hostile room and that they are useless on greedier*
#justEggThings
He had 1 Key and 2 item rooms already opened so he only needed 2 more keys. 2 keys = 10 coins.

The Ankh isn't useless you dingaling! It's a respawn as Blue Baby and you ARE Blue Baby!
@Wesley Nash bots its the third time i saw these comments
Good job, I didn't think you could pull that off.
the ankh would have essentially been a 1 up, wouldn't it? or can blue baby not use the ankh to become blue baby?
Adam Coventry "my best friend"
ITS PUNCHING BAG
He also gave up infinite bombs and shop rerolls for rerolls once every 6 charges.
okay so i'm really glad i wasn't the only one who thought not taking ankh was a bad choice
I think he was looking for more dps upgrades. Coming back with shit damage just to die again is pretty useless.
it worked out well?
That corner-to-corner strategy is actually pathetically brilliant.
it looks like all locust arent actually well coded for Greed mode, Locust of Conquest is suposed to give you from 1 to 5 flies peer room, but it looks like it doesnt count the greed mode counter for it
Vayne Ryu
Maybe it's just not supposed to work
Any locust spawns flies on the entering of a new hostile room. If you enter a passive room, such as Greed Mode's main room, and then make it hostile after having entered it, you will receive no flies.

Michael Nee again, in Afterbirth there were items with the same problem, and they were retwiked so they could work on Greed mode on a patch later
That was a god tier greed fight, good job egg
Gotta love how NL's mechanical skills usually save him despite his absolute idiocy and obliviousness when it comes to items and overall in-game logic.
"The Ankh is useless"
*Is Blue Baby*
Egg pls
I saw that too
>wants beelzebub >doesn't pick up jar of flies >god dammit, egg.
Was a little disappointed in that.
hey nl, just wanted to thank you for your videos, you cheer me up soo much with your great character and you help me A LOT through tough times i'm having at the moment. seriously, thank you
Kudos for the greed fight
"we'll go for beelzebub" *doesn't pick up jar of flies before rerolling it*
Ralor Penwat He might not no it counts for beelzebub I didn't know until today
Can blow up every mushroom and skull and look for secret rooms- doesn't.
On the Depths: 'We should be looking for secret rooms, absolutely, it's a mistake from earlier'- doesn't.
*sigh*
This ultragreed fight is one of the best ive ever seen, good job eggboy.
"The Ankh is actually useless" NL, are you okay man?
Brother.
I am quite famished, brother.
May I have some eggs?
The Comedian oats brother oats
Can I offer you an nice egg in this trying time?
The Comedian
brother.
Do not lie to me brother
I know you have the eggs
32:40 "one spirit heart could make all the difference" *finishes game with one spirit heart*
"This will be...what defines this run." *immediately hit by Gurgling* I dunno why I just found that very funny. :p
Yo egg you goofed, jar of flies contributes to beelzebub, wouid of had it my dude.
JIMMY i hope this is a joke
Damn NL, that was actually really well played. Thats how a father must feel like when his child rides the bike for the first time.
360SubSeven Yes, but Egg punctured the bike's wheels by not taking jar of flies
I like greedier mode so this is a bit bittersweet. At least it went out on a good run. Now we spend eternity with Eden who presents very little challenge for our dear egg.
It's quite the opposite. You have the same chance to get either a good start or a terrible joke.
SarahMariePardy I can't agree with the last part. Before AB+ came out he lost plenty of streaks on eden. He's just not that good :)
any other character can ALSO buy those spirit hearts, though... ANYONE can buy 3 spirit hearts for 15 cents. egg, your value theories on greedier mode are actually getting worse
he was making it sound like blue baby had an advantage BECAUSE he could buy "HP upgrades" for 5 cents by buying spirit hearts...
7 cents given to the fortune teller. 3 soul hearts and cancer. luck of the egg
Locust doesn't work in greedmode
If you have the opportunity, blow up the reroll machine because it can give you money
(Sorry for bad english)
It does work, you can see him get a multiple white flies at some point, but they dissapeared after he went deeper
They appear because in the exit room there are monsters, but trough the waves it doesn't spawn flies
ooh, i see
TMGion blowing up the donation machine also cycles by some items which could mean you never see them again
4 corner strategy, I said this a while back. Easiest way to fight him.
what a super greed fight, bravo NL
Egg + conehead + 20/20 = northernlion
How about in the future we get one greed mode run a week? Like, every tuesday one of the two daily episode is greedier. I think that strikes a good balance between normal runs and greedier runs.
AVUREDUES54 Greedier bores most people, myself included. It's more fun to play than to watch
KIngLink i don't really like watching them or playing them maybe every once in a while but not every week
Pumpkin Warrior Yeah, I'm glad he's finished with them for now, Daily's are gonna take him a bit though. But, once he gets 10000000 or whatever he'll probably just go back to Eden/Random runs
KIngLink I actually really love eden runs Idk the random items and stats make great some really fun runs
7:16 I love how he spawned in the abyss
Do you know that Pay To Play gives you 5 cents, right?
its still a bad greed mode item
Denzo12345678910 why is it great? It saves you like 5 cents if you dont pick it up on the first floor
In this case it was bad. He was generating enough keys using WAIT WHAT from keys behind rocks and keys from blowing everything up.
Considering there are many chances to get keys otherwise and having 3cent keys, it's not worth it 90% of the time
He had 1 Key and 2 item rooms already opened so he only needed 2 more keys. 2 keys = 10 coins.
Pay to Play = 15 coins -5 you get back +1 for each item room to open = 12 coins at that point.

"we're going to reroll Jar of Flies" WITHOUT PICKING IT UP. EVEN THOUGH IT GIVES US BEELZEBUB.
That one hurt, man.
He's starting to believe.

"How did I dodge that?!" We need some more appreciation for Halo of flies! 😁
I only just noticed that Mr. Dolly gives Isaac a tiny doll held in the sprite's hand and I think that's adorable.
Even after all those good and bad decisions, I'm proud of you for following through on that run. Good job NL
He's done it, the absolute madman
I think Conquest Locust gives you flies whenever you enter a new room. Good on a regular run, but not on Greedier
Every locust item ONLY gives flies when entering a room with enemies in it
That greed fight was like watching Masterchef with a minute left and the contestant starts making a vinaigrette
Hello! Your videos are awesome and I do not comment much but I had to say something this time. The right-hand wall in the shop for Greed mode never has a secret room. It is the left wall.

"The white horse will not die until the little horse is dead"
Sounds like a native proverb.
He has finally done the strat on Ultra Greed people been telling him to do since he started doing Greedier runs.
0:49 He really wanted the "I'm excited" pill to appear and then hit R ... :D
I'm so glad you learned how to do that fight.
I don't comment much, but I just wanted to say: Well done NL. that Greedier mode looks tough as hell, and you got the job done.
Bravo NL. The jukes were real.
Greed/Greedier mode : buy only these items that will help you on the way to ultra greed, invest rest of the money in red/spirit hearts. Once you understand you will get the unlcoks.
The Locusts only spawn flys when entering a hostile room, because the greed room isn't hostile till you push the button they don't spawn
Nls greed mode videos are the perfect videos to do your math homework to with all his imperial statistical analysis
the locusts are mostly useless since it only spawns flies upon entering a hostile room. Greed(ier) main room is passive upon entering.
Hey you egg! If you swap Butter Bean for another item and pick it up again, it has a small chance of transforming into "Wait what?"
At the very end I honestly thought he was about to die. However, his dodges were still impressive as fuck
You don't want any of the locust trinkets for greed mode. They spawn flies only when you enter a "hostile" room.
None of the locusts really work on the greed mode waves. Since their spawn condition is like "at the start of a room with enemies" or "at the end of a room with enemies" and the waves aren't counted for whatever reason, probably to keep conquest from being a constant guppy head.
Goddammit egg, i was screaming so hard when you said to work towards beelzebub but didn't take jar of flies
...The Anhk was just a free 1up since you're Blue Baby anyway...
I think people forget that pay to play gives 5 cents when you pick it up. He was right not to take it because he already opened 2 rooms and is holding a key, but pay to play is not that bad in greeder if you've only opened 1 door and have 0 keys.
holy shit dude, you played your heart out this run and you fuckin did it. well played!
With all the roleplay around your mistakes people sometimes forget you're a really good player. Well done, egg.
Mustn't be a speedrun
Holy shit, Egghead accidentally made a great play with the Fortune Teller!
(The "Luck" stat has nothing to do with your odds on it, just "Lucky Foot".)
NL, that coin is Dad's lost coin. It gives a range up and drops a lucky penny
locust trinkets spawn flies when you enter a room with enemies. waves don't count.
all locust trinkets don't work on greed(ier) mode(unless you enter a room with flies)
Mod idea: Greed's booty
Passive.
When you enter a room you have a 5/10 chance of making every enemy on the room charmed + Some coins.
Morty MCDonald's Pretty OP actually, since 5/10 is 50%
TheMiningDog Maybe 3/10? Is that good?
"Ank is useless."
You're already Blue Baby, take the extra life, egg.
(Skunk posted this comment before watching the rest of the video.)
who else wished the pill he took when he said he was exited at 0:50 was I'm exited? lol
Second faze of the ultra greed is easier than the first. Not only you can lock him in the jump loop, he also hurst himself.
why not pick up the ankh? gives you a second chance as blue baby
edit: guess he didnt need it, clutch win egg
Pay To Play gives you 5 cents so its really only 10. Depths, Womb, and Sheol = 3 cents for all doors, so a total of 13 cents. 5 for a key on those 3 floors is 15 cents. So if you never got the key on Caves it would have been a total for 14 instead of 20.
Yo NL, the locust trinkets spawn a fly every time you enter a room with enemies. Since you enterthe fighting room in greed mode only once, it just makes one fly.
Basically, locust trinkets are trash on GREED MODE. Otherwise, they great.
Dearest Mr. Lion
Locust of Conquest spawns flies when you walk into a room that has enemies in it.
There's something amusing listening to NL explain why 3 spirit hearts for 15 cents is so good. Yeah dog I'm sure on the first episode you played of ??? you explained how HP upgrades are basically one spirit heart. It really shouldn't be the other way around.
The locusts only spawn when you enter a room with enemies. The trinkets are pretty much useless in greed mode
great job NL that was a great greed fight
Pay to play costs 10 cents (15 minus the 5 it gives you). A key costs 5 cents. If you are going to need more than 2 keys it is worth it, and if you need 2 more keys then it probably isn't because you might get them elsewhere or on the cheap, but it still may be worth it because if you have enough money to buy a second item afterward, it is an item cycle
Only when you high af you can realy appreciate nothern lions tactics/decisions and skill
Refuses to take the Ahnk even though he's Blue Baby...
Corner - to - corner is a GREAT strategy vs Golden Ultra Greed.
With all the people talking about the ankh pass, I wanna talk about how the fudge NL pulled off that Greedier run? Ya boy pulled out the plays there.
I'll be honest, at one point I thought he didn't have it. (spoilers) He did!!! That was totally clutch! Too much respect. :)
effects like rage building and locusts dont work in greed mode till greed cause they have to be in rooms with enemies spawned in
Say whatever you want about his strategy and play on most of this run, but the Ultra Greed fight was sweet as hell.
Only took until his last Greedier run to figure out Ultra Greedier's patterns.
:/
Says, he should work towards the Beelzebub Transformation; does not pick up jar of flies.
I don't think that spiel at the beginning about HP upgrades being cheaper for Blue Baby made any sense. Normal characters can buy spirit hearts too
Wouldn't the Ahnk just be an extra life?
I do not know why, but I need to watch those Isaac videos :D
Not only does he call the punching bag the wrong name but also says it's bad. How dare he
pay to play math: You pay 15 cents for the item and 1 cent per item room. You gain 5 cents off the bat and save 5 cents by not buying keys. So base (open no rooms) you lose 10 cents, then for every room you open you make a profit of 4 cents. So if you still have 3 items rooms left you make a profit. One good, heard earned win; one upvote
