- Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank have taken up residence in Frogmore Cottage in a brand new twist to the Prince Harry and Meghan eviction saga.
the late Queen Elizabeth did not GIVE Frogmore Cottage to Harry but only a one-year lease, renewable each year subject to conditions (which speaks volumes about what she thought about that relationship)

Tory MP-Bob Steely has already started the process by preparing a private members bill that would see Harry and Meghan stripped of their Royal titles.
It was supposed to have been presented February 2023.
What I stated was true-HMQE2 could not remove the titles alone-it needs the sanction of Parliament.

I'm American but I do follow Prince William and Catherine Princess of Wales. I think they will be the "saving grace" for the RF. I don't watch the videos about MM and H. Doesn't the word "lease" usually require payment? I have never heard of the President & First Lady as "leasing" the white house. Thats bc that sounds foolish. Lets stop the stupid words and call a spade a spade.
@Donna Lynn In the case of the White House, the house comes with the job and I also have never heard of a lease or lease payment.
However, for the properties that belong to the Crown (which do not belong to the monarch personally)- there are actually leases. I believe they are called "Grace and favor" leases and grant the renting of various properties around the kingdom to those working for the firm or in some cases those who have retired afters years of service. They are either a perk of the job or as a thank you for years of service. Windsor apparently has quite a few (wasn't Frogmore Cottage split into 5 such properties thus the renovations needed?). Even Nottingham Cottage would be considered a Grace and Favor property.
The Royal Family has to carefully avoid doing anything that might make it seem like they are overburdening the taxpayers for their upkeep. They must be seen to be earning their keep. So these properties can be rent free leases, but royals themselves usually pay (a small fee compared to worth). The public is fine with non royals and retirees leasing these propertied , but for Royals themselves are more accustomed to seeing only working members of the RF being granted Grace and Favor leases. For example, when the Retired Duke of Kent had such a lease in 2002, the queen herself paid his rent out of her personal funds to ensure there were no issues.
Andrew was allowed the Royal Lodge because he was a working royal. But he has always been tasked with paying for upkeep of the lodge. Because he is no longer a working royal and the lodge is in need of many repairs he can't afford, KCIII is considering removing him from the lodge. Then it would be less controversial for taxpayers to assist in repairing the historical location. No doubt, if KCIII did move Andrew into Frogmore Cottage, the king would likely pay the rent put of his pocket as his mother did for the Duke of Kent. KCIII currently pays Andrew an allowance out of his personal pocket now since he's not eligible to be paid by the crown since he no longer works for it.
The one thing that generally is the same between the occupants of the White House and the Royals (not counting Retired firm employees)- no job. No house.
I wouldn’t trust Eugene and Jack whatsoever, especially being so close to the Wales! Seems to me to be a HUGE CONFLICT of interest. That is, seeing how close they seem to be to the Harkles…I can see them SPYING on behalf Harry and the wife! I wouldn’t want them ANYWHERE near me if I were the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their children …I wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole. I hope for the Wales’ sake the stay is short lived! Having Eugenie at Frogmore gives the Royal family a crucial distance from the palace while supporting her young family. I doubt they'll be there long after the Coronation. Her husband moves the family periodically for work, and Andrew will have to move there soon enough. Charles has made his decision.

A security assessment was done and it was decided that Harry was too unstable to live less than 900 feet from his brother....it was feared that when he was high he might injure Wills or the children. There was also the problem of Megs taking pix of Kate and the kids at play and selling the pix to newpapers....with a nasty twist on the interpretation of them. Conclusion....Harry should not be allowed to live near the Wales.

I heard from royal experts that Eugenie was somewhat miffed that Catherine who is a ‘commoner’ gets treated so regally even though Eugenie is a born Princess. Harry was endlessly held and adored by his mum until just before his 13th birthday, he also had a loving father who understood that he needed a lot of support. Teenagers, particularly male ones, tend to find hugging and kissing by their parents annoying and embarrassing as they strive to develop an independent personality. I’m so sad for both boys that they lost their mum at such a tender age but many, many people have lost their parents in childhood and didn’t end up as whiney, self indulgent, self absorbed basket cases.

I think Sky News is rather behind the times! It was widely reported that Eugenie and Jack moved to Portugal a few months back and are looking for a second home near the Harkles. Also the Harkles were not evicted....their lease was not renewed. There is a huge difference in law between the two.

Harry had a short term lease, at one point sublet to the Brooksbanks.
Frogmore is part of Windsor, which is part of the Crown Estate. Properties in the Crown Estate are not part of the Kings private holdings. They cannot be sold by him nor does he collect revenue from them. While the reigning monarch owns the properties, revenue belongs to the UK. In return funding for maintenance and security comes out of the Crown Estate in the form of the Sovereign Grant to the reigning monarch. Note, the reigning monarch, which now is King Charles III.
Apparently a complete assessment of the Crown Estate is being undertaken, including a security overhaul. The King was, allegedly, advised that the lease not be renewed.
Legally, non renewal of a lease is not an eviction. And to facilitate the necessary change of residence there is a grace period in which the occupants of the property can pay rent on a monthly basis. The duo knew since January what was happening but sat on the information until they figured out a spin, then went all out to dramatise the non renewal of a lease as an "eviction". I guess the Netflix sequence in which they packed up to move house was all faked?

Restrictions have been given to them for the Coronation to my knowledge and they will be staying at Buckingham Palace where they have rules and can be watched and mobile phones etc taken off them for the duration of the coronation etc. They will have to go through security checks like others. I am sure that is what I have read about, I could be wrong of course.

Good grief...many years ago within a 6 month period, my father died of pancreatic cancer, my rental house burned to the ground with all my possessions in it (no insurance I was a "starving divorcee" going back to school full time and working part time), my youngest son was in a very bad car wreck and required multiple surgeries and on the day of my final exams my father died. I took my exams and spent the next 3 days getting him buried in his family's cemetery 150 miles away. No counseling. No therapy. As my mother used to say I "put on my big girl panties" and got on with it.

I don't see how these people should be any different then any other large families in the world. It is not unusual for large family trees to live together in very large houses or multiple buildings on the same property. Heck some less fortunate families have multi generations in very small living quarters together.
My parents are. They just built a new house that they can age into. They don't have to lug laundry up and downstairs, for example, and they have safer tubs. My sister and her family are going to be moving into their old house next door. So while it's not exactly a compound, they'll be back and forth every day. And they are not rich.

MW the Royal family is very large and there are numerous family members who have jobs or business activities. Princess Margaret's son for example had his own design and furniture business for many years and both Eugenie and Beatrice ( daughters of the Duke of York) have jobs though they do have Charitable activities as well. I think you under estimate the amount of personal choice available to each individual.
