Why allow Giuliani to repeat his blatant lies and report the document case as thrown out without mentioning the clear ignoring of the law in that matter or that the decision will without doubt be reversed on appeal.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas clearly agrees with that ruling as you can see in his opinion in Trumps Supreme Court ruling.

This is appalling journalism. To allow Rudy to spout lie after lie without any pushback, is precisely the reason politics is in the state it is
I think it is clear from the commentary that they regard his views as nonsense - the context of the interview is 'look at what the Republican party has become'. It is already implicit that what Giulliani is saying is BS, and remember this is for a British audience, where everyone (outside of a handful of grifters trying to make money on the US speaking circuit) acknowledges that these far right republican talking points are deranged. Our politics is terrible and rapidly.gettimg worse, but we are not yet quite at the point where the sorts of things Giulliani and Vance come out with are considered remotely plausible.
@@samhunter1205 Interviews are clipped and disseminated widely, without the wider commentary. That's why it is critically important to push back 'in the moment', it also reinforces the notion to politicians that they cannot just lie as they like. Most of them are simply spouting rehearsed talking points and when they are challenged in real time, they tend to fall apart. That is what journalists and interviewers used to do.
@CT99234 true to an extent, although if footage can be clipped (and these days manipulated with far more sophistication) then that part of your argument is somewhat moot. I think different interviews have different purposes. In the US, what Giulliani says is taken seriously and actually accepted by more than a handful of people. In the UK it isn't, and the crazies here usually have to pretend to be a bit more normal to avoid general ridicule. This is the sort of interview where the person being interviewed doesn't seem to realise that it is in their own interests to shut up - in those circumstances you don't want to interrupt them. Lastly,.let's not forget that this interview was being conducted at the RNC. Notice that for the commentary Emily was filming she was speaking with a particularly low voice? I am not at all convinced it would be safe to ask confronting or challenging questions at that sort of event.

I have enjoyed this News Agents series until now. But I don't think you understand how appalling your commentary on the Republican National Convention came across. It was so full of liberal centrist vitriol rather than any serious examination of the programme that Trump and Vance are preparing. Your programme was so offensive and unlistenable and compares very unfavourably to the much more serious treatment of these subjects by other channels like 'The Rest is Politics'.
Liberal Centrists, or Bernie Sanders voters using USA criteria, are well aware of Trump's programme- which is Nationalism not Internationalism, Economic policies that ensure the rich get even richer- they simply find these values to be a negative.
This was one of the first times that The News Agents have spoken about the true nature of Trump and the Republicans, suddenly the gravitas of the situation has hit them.
Covering how insane and extremist the current Republican party has become is essential. This is for a British audience, our Overton window isn't quite as far right as yours. If you ask the vast majority of Brits about many Republican policies they would consider them absolutely nuts, while I am sure a lot of Republicans would consider the average Brit a communist (given that many Brits are some way to the left of the Democrats).
