I just wanted to thank you for this video. It helped me solve a problem I had my pc for almost a month. When reinstalled Windows following your steps, I have no issues with my CPU anymore. I guess installing chipset drivers first is very much important, and I didn't do it before. I always installed GPU first, and I guess that was mistake. (I had bsod DPC_Watchdog viloation caused by amdppm.sys, which could only be solved by uninstalling chipset drivers, which led to another problems).

When doing the clean install of Windows 10, on the step where we have to delete all partitions, I did as you mentioned. Now as in the video there is a one unallocated space which is the SSD. Should I just click next as in the video or should I click on "New" to create system partitions ?

Hi Mike, I have to say, your channel coupled with the quick response to questions is absolutely perfect! Question, after successfully loading the BIOS, I need to install the motherboard drivers, is there a specific order for which drivers need to be installed first, second, third etc.? I'm referring to the SATA, Chipset, Audio etc.
i would go first with chipset drivers then all the windows updates then finally the GPU
the lan wifi etc should all be picked up either in chipset or windows update
Great video, I found if you don't pull out the USB stick when your pc is restarting it just goes round in a loop and starts to install Windows all over again.

Yes! A must for AMD I noticed my 3700X temps along with bench mark performance significantly improved (mid 40's air cooled while watching this video).
lol yeah staying dry, and yes it is worth going to the amd / intel site every month or so for the new chipset drivers helps keep the system up to date

Hi, Mike. Well, I got my new be quiet Silence Base 802 case today. I can honestly say it is a very well-made case, but sadly it's not as water cooling friendly as it appeared. It has room for up to a 420mm rad in the front, but nowhere did I see anything regarding the thickness of the rad. My 360mm x 65mm rad will not fit without some serious modding. Also, my expensive EK D5 pump will not fit with the current 300mm tall Reservoir. This is not going to be an easy build, but I am not returning the case. It's presenting me with a mighty challenge, and I accept. I may have to do some heavy modding, but that's what I call fun. I am not above mounting the pumps on the outside. 😂

Then I'll buy a slim 420 rad and a EKWB EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 Pump/Reservoir Combo. I'm going to have to use my Corsair pump for now because it's the only thing I have that's small enough. LOL.

Big thanks for this video. Last month I upgraded my mobo and CPU (Intel to AMD chipset) and then lazily chucked the same Windows C: drive back in again. It appears to work fine after some hasty automatic driver installs but ran buggy ever since. It wouldn't allow hibernation, and eventually had repeated rollback issues when installing Windows updates. I had no idea about the CPU/Chipset drivers when doing a fresh install, and the correct order of doing so which makes total sense. Now running without issue and much more stable. Thanks again!

does matter really, but if you install windows before you have a key in mind that would be good to choose between home and pro

At 9:28 how come you didn’t create > new > allocated space then format and install. Why did you just install it straight to unallocated space without allocating and formatting? Is there a difference?

Thanks Mike for the tip on going to the CPU manufacturer's website; had never heard that suggested before when installing Windows 10 on a rig. I assumed that happened along with the Windows intall and updates.
Yeah the chipset and cpu drivers make a massive difference in terms of power management and boost speeds etc
Question: does it make any sense to look for driver updates for the CPU or Chipset, after the fact? I will add, have never had a problem not doing so. Thank you Mike.
@@PapaMav AMD won't notify you / auto download and install updated chipset drivers. You have to go to their website and look for the latest. You can compare by the date, as you'll have an AMD folder on your C: drive.

If my computer has virus and malware, is it safe to create the installation media on that pc? Then reinstall windows with it?
if you have the option to create the disk on another PC that would be the best option
9:35 why didn't you created partition? Because it need to create three more partitions recovery, system and MSR before installing windows 🤔
Windows creates those itself, there has never been a need to DIY those partitions

only if the system is set to look at the cd drive first for booting as it will start the install again over and over

What if the AMD Processor has Integrated GPU while having a dedicated AMD GPU. Do i need to turn off the Integrated GPU in motherboard settings?

I live in the UK and bought a cheap netbook with Atom processor when in holiday in France about 6 years ago. Recently I got the dreaded Ble Screen Of Death when it was performing a Windows 10 Update and the only way I coukd recover it from a boot loop was reloading a new copy of Windows 10 (Frenhc version) using the media creation tool. Taht worked but I have no sound (no sound card etc recognised/found) and no battery level gauge. The manufacturer's support (Thomson) are proving somewhat unhelpful; any idead howI can get sound back and also the battery level gauge? The old driver file directory appears to still be on the hard drive (it's only 64GB) but even if I can track down which are the correct files,how do I instal them?

not that i am aware of, but it might be able to do it via microsoft product activation over the phone if you have access to the key. worth a try

Whats the reasoning behind installing the chipset/processor drivers before graphics if you've got different brands (e.g. AMD CPU, NVidia GPU) ?
chipset provides the platform for the GPU to trnasport data, if parts of the chipset are not installed the GPU can't or won't use those features in the chipset

I have an Omen 15 laptop, it came with a HDD which drives me crazy and just bought a NVME and a SATA SSDs
I want to replace the HDD and put the SO on the NVME drive since I read it's faster than the SATA one and install Windows 11 now

since about a week my laptop needs 7-8min to boot, before it took 30-40sec, my Windows is on a SSD drive, planning a new installation and hope the problem is gone, may be its the SSD drive but i belive if it is damaged, nothing would work anymore?

After BSOD problem, I had to re-install Windows 10 Pro. I am at the stage where the desktop shows 2 icons (same as yours). But I really wish I had found your video first!
What I did not do when setting up was delete partitions. Will this cause problems?
Everything except keyboard and mouse were unplugged before re-installing. At what stage do I connect the ethernet cable?
And I wish I'd known about the offline account option!

Last year I managed to install Windows 10 all by myself after paying $199 pls tax from MS and I bought a license for each laptop. However, I totally screwed up how to set it up (all of that admin, user, initial important setup stuff). It’s driving me crazy and plus machine is running super slow so I want a do over. Thanks for the great video! I did what you said and uploaded all windows updates. One of them was nvidia (not in the additional options). Should I use DDU and reinstall Nvidia or keep it like that? It uploaded by it self so I didn't got the step to install the Intel processor.

Hey, i have a dell laptop. Should I install chipset drivers from intel or from the dell support site? And what should be the best order, like I’m going like, windows updates (no optional ones) then chipset drivers and lastly the graphics drivers. One more question- should i replace all the drivers with the ones available in the dell support site made for my exact laptop? Or should i just install the chipset drivers from there and leave all other categories just as it is? Please help.

If you sign in with your Microsoft account it is possible but not guaranteed. You can always grab a cheap windows 10 key from one of the channels favourites premium cdkeys, there is a discount code in the video description
When I did fresh instal I did downlaod the wrong software I downloaded the amd pro edition even tho I wasn’t supposed to but then I deleted that software if I’m not wrong then installed amd software adrenaline edition and i don’t know if amd pro edition is still on my pc and that it could mess something up but I don’t see it and also I do get the error code (43) when I reset my pc but when I update the driver and select a driver it says it works properly but I don’t know if I messed up

So the stuff from the MB producer, only pick up sound and netwrok drivers from there?
yes the motherboard manufacturer will be best for the sound and network if not picked up already

You shuild NOT just pull out the USB STICK LIKE THAT i it can corrupt the usb drive stick
windows caching is much better now, as long as the drive led isn't flashing the drive isn't moving data so no corruption

Hi Mike, my alienware laptop has killer wifi and requires killer wifi drivers. So when I eventually do a clean install of windows 10 it gives me a system that is not connected to the internet so I should externally download the killer wifi drivers and load them up first right?
yes download the drivers first and put them on a flash drive if you can

So Mike if your boards like really old lol. Do you still put the disk ie chip set drivers or just let windows update sort them out is it that important. I usually go with new nvida drivers.. As my board divers on the Asus site are old.. Do I still need them or well Windows update sort it out...
regardless of age i always do the install of windows a few reboots then chipset drivers then gpu always in that order

depends on the device but most touchscreens will auto install as far as i know. check with the device manufacturer to be sure
can i just download windows 10 without the usb will it effect performance at all?
you have to download it to somewhere other than the drive the computer has inside it

I did everything right and got the USB with windows on it and the process of installation is starting well but steps with the key and choosing the version of windows is missing and is jumping up to licence terms, everything is going well after and get the windows installed but is anyway that feeling of doing something wrong because of issue described above. Can anyone explain what am I doing wrong?...thanks
it could be the version you have is 64 bit only or something?

i will depend on the system really and the compression used in the backup, my system backup which is mainly C: drive and a few key folders is about 250GB so a pretty big USB, but some installs will need a lot less

How does clean install deletes the old OS ??
it overwrites the existing drive and data

Yeah I thought so, time for me to install windows again at least I know the problem. The worst part is how long the windows update takes because the usb boot drive has such an old version. Thanks for the reply and making this video.

yes the drivers on the AMD or Intel are generally a lot newer and most likely to give better performance / stability

And when everything is done, you go to ninite.com and install the remaining automatically! Might too be the first and last time yu are using edge too... 😁
