these people haven't a clue - the 'link arm' threaded end is constructed so a 5mm allen key can inserted to allow the nut to be unscrewed - likewise the end of a damper allows a 6mm allen key so the nut can be removed - no need for mole grips and grinders - these people are clueless and vandals and crooks if they are charging people for this service - I'm not a mechanic so I don't know what these people are - disgusting
At 8 minutes it can be clearly seen that there is the facility to put an allen key in the top of the damper so that the nut can be undone without resorting to use of mole grips. The video producer then states I'm pissed / a troll ? etc rather than accepting his is a crap mechanic. If you clean up the link connecting the anti roll bar to the damper / strut you will find similar. Basic Basic DIY mechanic skills
@@KEENY475 You're right Ken, i'm not a mechanic but will do these sort of jobs myself and it saves a lot of money on labour. For the cost of one hours labour you could buy decent tools that will last ages and you're gaining experience.
Hi! I bought a set of used original springs for a MK2B Sporting 1.4 2004. (I hope so). Springs have markings on them: 2 yellow and 1 pink on the front and 2 yellow and 2 pink on the rear. Does anyone know if they are the correct springs ?
Michał K. It’s for preventing the shaft from turning when he tight the mounting but it’s not the proper way I agree with you that shaft have an Allen key in the center and you should use an key to tighten it so in any way this video shows how garages deal with peoples cars
That part of the shock absorber will never be used so it can have a few clamp marks. It's a DIY method if you don't that the proper tools to do it. If you don't do it the shaft spins and you can't torque the nut.

Great video. Do you recommend doing both sides when doing this job.
yep
I think you shouldn't
@@4kmeme_funny It's recommended to do both like he says, or you can get stability issues at speed with uneven spring tension on the same axle.
Nice video Mark! Whos car is this?
Hi Joe the car was at guilts garage for repair,
Mark Davies oh ok
Can you explain why you need these pliers? You destroy the shock absorber. You have a hydraulic puller that secures the spring sufficiently.
