I grew up in Bolivar in the 60's. I remember Ollie Henderson's store. It was a great place to get hard rock candy. My grandmother lived in the house on the left of the Shaefer St picture. I remember sitting on that basement door as a child. Thanks for sharing these photos.
I believe that house from the 5:50 mark (Fig 3.23) is actually on the corner of Lincoln and 8th, Ive driven past many times. It's in horrible disrepair unfortunately
@@jimmiller8247 Oh--I was a bit concerned about sharing my email with the Internet. Is there a way that I can communicate with you about Yukon? My great-grandparents had the general store that was across the street and a little to the left of the Catholic church. One side of the house was the store; the other side was where my ancestors lived. Apparently, it was the first house in Yukon that had indoor plumbing. I visited the place for a family party when I was a young child and recall seeing the water pump at the kitchen sink. Fifty years later, I returned to the village and located the house because of the church landmark. Did the owners of the Magee mine own the land that was south of the mine & coal patch? I've wondered if my ancestors bought their home or rented it from the mine's owners. Wendy
