I'm investigating the possibility of being a digital nomad after finishing my studies in Canada, so I joined some related subreddits and other social media groups. I feel like Sri Lanka would be an ideal destination for digital nomads, but it is not popular among these forums. Bali, an island in Indonesia, is the most hyped destination that has similar climate and attractions to Sri Lanka. Is there any reason for that?
absolutely! Bali is stunning but let me bring to your mind some other reasons why Sri Lanka would be an excellent choice for digital nomads. imagine beautiful tea gardens with misty valleys, blue sea, and sparkling waves...a rich culture that reflects the mingling of the oldest ruins with the most recent lifestyle, and ESPECIALLY a reasonable cost of living that enables you to spend all these wonders to the fullest. another advantage is that Sri lanka provides a broad range of landscapes, from the surf beaches of the Southern part to the safaris in national parksfor wildlife enthusiasts. It's a heaven that cracked from its shell and an ideal stage for pulling out creative sparks while on remote work....
Changu vs Hirikatiya - Remote working culture is not that widespread compared to Thailand & Bali ... But there are some places popping up fast in Sri Lanka in areas like valigama, Mathara, and hirikatiya. Internet can be an issue too. Sri Lanka always comes as underrated [Which is good] with less crowded beaches and nightlife. Better to spread your time in Sri Lanka , Thailand and bali if you can
What digital nomad groups you are part of? I am also thinking of becoming a digital nomad in about 1 year from now but would like to join groups now and get an idea. I am also planning to spend 1-6 months in Goa, India and Sri Lanka in the beginning.
An interesting vlog thanks Balnur ♥️
