Exactly. I use a Synology NAS, that's easy and amazing for advanced storage. But if that seems complex, just an external HD works, too. And no need to rip, come to Nicaragua and just, um, download your videos. It's free and legal here. And technically legal in the US too, as long as it is only the ones he already owns. It's just someone else ripped them on his behalf. Even the physical ripping is more work than necessary, if he doesn't want to do that. Although if you rip yourself you can make all your recompression choices. For example, I'd always recompress to super high quality, upscaled H.265. But most people would be happy making them smaller.
I really struggle with things like the fact I have a really cheap plastic table from MaxiPali instead of a nice wooden computer desk that looks good. WHY? WHY do our brains work this way? The two objects do the same thing and I sure don't have a NEED for a fancy wooden desk. And I am not trying to impress anyone (Because I really don't like people in my office anyway). But why does my brain make me think that I have something inferior? UGGGGH...
best advice I have for anybody is..... RENT.... I've done a year of research and visit... Tried to reconcile buying as a well off retiree... Just doesn't make sense. Best "business" decision id say is rent. I found a loft (no bedroom) in Granada across from Garden Cafe for 577 a month... Wifi, maid included. Same home to buy there is 120k plus wifi etc... rent hahahaha I'd say don't buy car just get a driver. can live under 2k eating out twice a day.
@healing_with_nature1 if you are living in the US or Canada how do you do it? Go on your banks website and open one. Nothing changes from being abroad. Literally, nothing. Not one aspect of my banking is affected.
i'm not sure. she'd definitely need to do some paperwork. have her check with her lawyer as to what is needed in her case. it should be an option but you need to prep a little for it.
He could rip the dvds and put them on a NAS. Books are the heaviest I own.
