Postecoglou qualified Australia twice to the world cup, in Brazil Australia was in the group of death against holders Spain runners up Netherlands and Chile, loosing all games he still was highly regarded and won over a lot of people in the know over AU efforts there, a team full of nobodies took on some of the best in the world at that time, standing down before the next world cup went to Japan winning in first full season the JLeague, won 3 i think championships in AU, won with AU the Asians Champions Cup, when he went to Celtic the club was in a bit of a whirl going down, small squad to start with rebuilt in that first season and still managed too take 2 trophies, 3 the next, lets look at Spurs, 2 high profile managers with egos the size of Europe, one think you wont get from Ange is lambasting his squad like Conte, i think Ange is a very good fit, no big head knows how to work with small budget gets the best out of players and thats everywhere hes been, wont make excuses and will press press press....
just to correct a point, Holger Osieck qualified us for Brazil 2014, then got sacked before Ange was brought in. Ange qualified us for Russia 2018 but quit after the playoffs against Honduras.
John sounded positive gotta rate that but the argument about being a goal away from winning them games is ridiculous because the first half of the season they was scraping wins by 1 goal or coming back from behind to win/draw.
Also needs to be said that Postecoglou won these titles in different leagues he adaps brilliantly, also these Eurosnobs need to realise hiw hard it is especially in Australia to win consistent titles as the salary cap almost makes it impossible - clubs are on equal ground except Melbourne City and he still managed trophies and made it look easy. He broke my heart when his RoarCELONA 2011/2012 team beat my Mariners in the grand final. You gotta respect this man!
Has Martin forgotten where his favourite manager, Wenger, came from and how Arsenal were yo-yoing before Wenger joined (and during it for the early period) and built the club into the 2000's sensation?
In some ways it’s the right time for him to manage spurs next season and it might be a blessing for him as he will have only one thing to focus on and that’s the league.the only downside is recruitment and this might be tough for him as top players want European football so you might and wouldn’t surprise me to see one or two of the Celtic players who have played and worked for him moving south with the lure of playing in the English premiership as a step forward for there careers,so I wish him the best.
Martin , i was a Sunday league manager for decades , if my players were described as you said Conte did his , i would've taken full responsibility for it . Note also , after 5 home defeats in 6 games , he still played the same team in the next .
Wishing ange the best off luck. He has delivered against the odds again and again. He definitely has the X factor, and brings along an exciting brand off football. I commend tottenham f.c for taking a chance on him
I can remember a certain Frenchmen who before going to manage another more famous north london football club was plying his trade in the jleague. He didn't turn out too bad.
It would be a gamble for anyone who takes over at Tottenham. They seem to have become a bit of a manager's graveyard in recent years, almost achieving success but winning nothing. Hats off to him if he goes there and wins something.
Great calls! Honestly as a spurs fan I’m gonna remain optimistic for Ange but the after no investment in the summer and Kane potentially leaving I’m gonna go all in on Levy!
Why can’t Martin understand that he’s saying if Celtic had tottenhams team, they would’ve beaten Real Madrid playing like that. Like he said, they’re playing in a smaller league and so don’t have quite the depth in quality. I’m really happy that we’ve got a positive attacking manager. I was one of the rare ppl that never wanted the last two managers.
I have no interest in Spurs or Celtic, however as a football fan and having seen Postegoglu work I am very confident he’s the ideal gaffer for Spurs, even if Kane leaves he has the ideal striker in Richarlison who possesses the attributes he needs from his striker i.e closing down & being a workhorse. Plus he’ll bring in a few players on the cheap and suddenly “The Spurs Go Marching On” won’t just be a chant. YNWA!!!
I ll come back to this video in a year from now just to see how this will feel and sound then. I hope Ange brings beautiful footbalL "back" to Spurs....
The problem with TalkSport is they refuse to allow Spours fans on who can actually explain why Levy is the problem and go toe to toe with Levy's best mate Simon Jordan.
Not sure that's accurate. I hear plenty of us whinging about Levy but I've been a Spurs fan long enough to recognise where our club was before he came around and where we are now. He has given us stability and he has tried a LOT. He gets it in the neck for transfer stuff but most of us were very happy with the last summer window, Levy splashed plenty of cash and Conte got a lot of what he asked for. When Levy first arrived at Spurs we got a reputation as a bit of manager merry-go-round and he was criticised for that, but there were reasons for that and, at the end of the day, Levy was able to make tough decisions. He lost a LOT of Spurs fans when it seemed we had finally turned a corner with Jol and then Levy's handling of that situation was not great. However, we only get to see it from the outside looking in and, as far as I'm concerned (being a Spurs fan for over 40 years) Levy actually cares about out club, he is present at virtually every Home game and he has done a huge amount for the local area too which, let's face it, is a proper dump. We get devastated these days when we finish 8th ... EIGHTH! For half my timer supporting Spurs that was there best we could hope for and now, for well over a decade, we've been often Top 4, consistently Top 6, and 8th only twice, the last time being in the wake of Juan Ramos and we went on with Harry Redknapp to qualify for the UCL for the first time in our history the following season. Go back and look at our league finishes in the Premier League since it started until 2005 and then look at what we did in the 15-20 years after and tell me Levy has not given us stability. We can criticise the guy as we can criticise anybody but we also need to give credit and I, personally, have a lot of time for him. People always want what they haven't got, be grateful for what we have and we have a local guy, Spurs fan since childhood, who absolutely loves the club, has built us an incredible infrastructure that we can continue to build upon long after he has gone, we have improved immensely on the pitch since he arrived, he is financially sensible, not looking to just take money out of the club but has been pouring into the club and, whilst I know us fans would like to see more of it poured into actual improvements on the pitch, you cannot ignore that we NEEDED to focus on other areas first. Just listen to Luka Modric talking about the state of the facilities at Spurs when he was at the club, honestly, it sounded like we had better facilities at my school! We're not privy to what gets said in these transfer negotiations either - how many players did Levy get to open negotiations with who then backed out once they saw the state of our facilities? Who knows, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were quite a few. Regardless, I look at many clubs with their owners who may sometimes 'splash the cash' but they're often not happy that their owners do not seem to really care about the club itself. You have club's like Manchester City and PSG whose owners do seem to get it, have really invested in both players AND the club and are heavily involved but, I must say, it still feels like they've had to sell their souls. For all our gripes about Levy, he IS Spurs and always will be.
@@windrider6124 our last 2 managers were among the highest paid and almost everyone thought Conte was the answer. We were amongst the largest spenders last summer too and most people thought we bought well. We’ve built one of the largest most modern training grounds in the world, not just the country, and we’ve followed that by building one of the best stadiums around too. All of that needed doing and it is about putting the right pieces in the right places in the right order. The last thing that needs to be done is focus on results and what happens on the pitch and Levy can only influence that so much. Also, we may be among the most profitable but we were almost bankrupted when the Premier League started. Most clubs fall down the leagues and take YEARS to come back from that but Sugar steadied the ship and Levy has brought us back to being one of the most stable, largest clubs in the country. At the start of this season nobody predicted we would slip away so much and I can’t see how that is Levy’s fault that Conte failed to work out. As I said, I am open to criticising him and the board when they supposedly miss a target over a perceivably affordable fee or selling a player we don’t want sold but I feel like many Spurs fans use Levy as a scapegoat rather than appreciating all that he has achieved for us. This situation with Conte I don’t think Levy can take the blame for at all. The whole issue with Pochettino he could take criticism for, sure, but I also feel Poch is a bit responsible for how he left. Sometimes I get angry with Levy from the outside looking in but I genuinely think he has the club’s best interests at heart, he is a very clever, business savvy guy and we could do a LOT worse very easily. Be careful what we wish for.

No manager on the planet , could of done what he achieved in his 2 yrs at Celtic.. People forget the state the club was in , when he took over.. There was a game last year, against Rangers where Celtic played with the intensity/speed, cohesion, synergy and passion that I havn't seen since Sir Alex's great Man Utd sides...People mite say , it was only Celtic, then J league blah blah where he has been successful.. Don't matter , football pitches r the same all over the world.. It's his football style and philosophy that sets him apart and makes him a winner... Spurs will be the fittest team in the premier league also, watch the pre- season he puts the spurs player's thru.. All u experts, mite ridicule, mock and make fun of my comments.. Ange fears no one, there's no pressure on him. As everyone thinks he will fail.. Top 3 or even win the tittle in his first year t there.. England will know Who big Ange is by the end of the season..

How many clubs have been to 3 finals and their talisman contributed zero to the effort in the telling moments. If you are defined by trophies, do you think Harry could have stamped his class on games we lost by no more than 2 goals? Just asking? You tend to think stating things that are factual is backing Levy. Nothing wrong with laying into the chairman for his mishandling of the club. The caller was merely stating as bad as people like you are going on about the club, a few wins here or there could have changed the fortunes. Not because you fall amongst the angry, does not mean everyone should join you, and rant instead of applying reasoning to the situation. Chelsea in winning had hired 28 managers over the past 30 years, close to 23 in the last 25 years. We should adopted their model, I think. Stop behaving like Spurs was some giant club falling from grace in the league. We were always middle of table, winning a few cups here and there, but was never serious contender for the PL. Conte in his own words like Jose stated at the beginning of those seasons, professed to have what they needed. I blame Ley for the untimely firing of Jose, but in general his football was horrible. Conte's expectation of where he concisderdd progress was one bad call away from going into 3, yet instead of treating it like a learning moment, capitulated ranting his way to getting himself fired. The honorable thing to do was to quit if conditions did not suit him, but it would mean giving up part of $15M he was handsomely paid to turn things around. Good to know you want someone to work for your club who fancies themselve above the club.

if frank lampard took over Celtic as his first job and did well it would have been the same thing as Gerrard. ange is not well known and therefore is much more likely there will be criticism
Mourinho and Conte were both bigger than the club. In retrospect, that wasn’t healthy (although I thought Conte was a good appointment at the time). Ange will come in with a sleeves-up attitude, like Conte did, but unlike Conte he won’t bring a massive ego. He’ll bring everyone together, instil a positive attitude and get Tottenham playing a good brand of football.
Hope it goes well for Ange and Spurs, Its a gamble for sure and working with Levy is not going to be easy at all...... But in my opinion if Ange stayed at Celtic for few more years and won a European trophy then people would be saying he did what Mourinho did at Porto before moving to Chelsea.

Do NOT underestimate Ange. Do NOT make the same mistake everyone did when Wenger joined the league from J league. He is a self made man and it will be great to have him in the league competing with the other top managers. See you in NLD and try to press Arsenal from the front. We'll have a cracker.
We are talking about spuds though. It will take a good 5 year rebuild for them to get anywhere near Arsenal let alone Man City. This will end up as another failure no different then the last 30 years. 😂😂😂
My dad saw Spurs win the double. Which he loved, so he gave me spurs, as a toddler. They are my team. But they have only won five trophies in my lifetime. I want to see glory glory football. I think we are about to reenter that era. Ange is a full on glory football manager. I am so happy we have him.
I’m a big Celtic fan and I’m sick of Losing our managers to teams in England, if he has a bad run of results at spurs he will be sacked and out a job, Celtic are a massive club I wouldent go near Daniel levy for all the money in the world

Keown is well out of order with John the caller. His Gooner partisanship is steering him. He's got to get a grip. Spurs underperformed because of many factors including a prima donna, tactically rigid, manager who seems to have had a breakdown during the season and stormed out instead of staying to the end of his contract, working for the benefit of the club and then leaving with some honour.
Why should Conte have stayed? The players consistently let him down and the fans were friggin awful to him. I don't blame him one bit for getting out when he did.

I'm an Arsenal fan and I think Martin is wrong or he's purposely trying to be bad guy to bring more drama to the social media. Saying he did well in Celtic doesn't mean he'll do well with Spurs is same as saying he did well in Brisbane doesn't mean he'll do well with Celtic. PL and CL is definitely highest level and it won't be easy but saying Ange doesn't deserve it, is same as saying Arsene Who when he came from Japan.
What a pleasure to listen to some really great calls. When my club is interested in a player or a manager my first stop no matter the stats is to check what the fans think of that person.
I dont think ive ever been so flipped about an appointment before. Everything i hear and read about Ange is so encouraging and positive, Im slowly warming to this guy. We now just need to keep Kane ! Just imagine if Ange turns out to be the manager spurs have longed for and Kane its there for the ride.
Saying he's done more than Arteta who's worked with 2 of the biggest clubs in the world is ridiculous! That's the same argument that Ranger fans use when saying they're the most successful club in Britain....There are levels to management and trophies, you can't rate the Scottish prem title on par with the EPL title. The 2 biggest clubs in Scotland get a bye into European football every year! They'd be mid table in the Championship down here.

Trophyless 6 months incoming
Yep and if we had that daft logic about converting draws to wins then applying it to Newcastle in 4th (who had 14 draws) puts them miles ahead
2-2 against Man U 1-1 against Everton 3-3 Southampton 2-2 with brentford (earlier on in the season)
Gosh that Celtic fan nailed it. Brilliant
The first caller gets it. Terrible season which any team would struggle.
Martin is the perfect example of the potential risks of heading the ball
Also needs to be said that Postecoglou won these titles in different leagues he adaps brilliantly, also these Eurosnobs need to realise hiw hard it is especially in Australia to win consistent titles as the salary cap almost makes it impossible - clubs are on equal ground except Melbourne City and he still managed trophies and made it look easy. He broke my heart when his RoarCELONA 2011/2012 team beat my Mariners in the grand final. You gotta respect this man!
Has Martin forgotten where his favourite manager, Wenger, came from and how Arsenal were yo-yoing before Wenger joined (and during it for the early period) and built the club into the 2000's sensation?
yoyo-ing? Wth are you talking about. You make it sound like they had been relegated and promoted a few times like Norwich.

Martin comes across as someone who starts sentences without any idea as to how he’s going to end them.

He didn't turn out too bad.
He is a great manager, gets the best out of people....Antipodeans in the top flight..bring it
The Celtic fan that spoke at minute 5.04, your whole comment was spot on about Ange.
Don't forget spurs has a substantially bigger uk fanbase than man City will ever have!
I'm Australian, I remember telling all the Celtic fans to be positive and believe. Now I'm enjoying hearing all of them promoting the cult of Ange.

Keown a terrible pundit. Nice to hear callers actually have a sensible opinion.
YNWA!!!
I can't wait to see Ange's press conferences as an EPL manager. He'll stir the English press up good and proper like he did in Scotland!

We're the most profitable footballclub in the world.. are we acting like it?
I don't think that's true. I have heard plenty of Spurs fans call out Levy on the morning show.

@@josephkerrigan733 , An intelligent response would have been welcomed from all that you have deposited. 3 finals.
Keown slamming Postecoglou's experience as being underwhelming is so biased. Maybe he can review the incredible managerial resume of Arteta before he went to Arsenal. . . .

I don't remember anyone saying anything about how bad the SPL was when Steven Gerrard came down to manage Villa. They were already talking him up for the Liverpool job. There's an anti Celtic bias in the British media and this is a good example of it.
But look how bad he’s done in the PL
I mean they said it was no contest between Villa and Rangers. Villa are struggling premier league team at the time and Rangers a champion
I dont think its anti Celtic bias. Its because Gerrard is english. English bias is huge
if frank lampard took over Celtic as his first job and did well it would have been the same thing as Gerrard. ange is not well known and therefore is much more likely there will be criticism
Theres an anti-British bias amongst the Celtic support. Swings and roundabouts
Tell me Keown doesn't get paid for this 🤣
I don't imagine he needs the cash after a career in which he won more than the entire Spurs team combined.
