Thank u I’m new to modding this game because I recently got a pc and this tutorial was literally easy and simple. If you already know how to mod it should always be simple to explain it💯‼️
Thanks mate, I'm glad you like it. Luckily modding in 7 days is easy. It's not so easy in other games like fallout 4. Welcome to the PC master race 😜
Excellent. Thank you
I've been trying to install mods to my server and I just don't get it
OK i have watched a dozen MOD how to vids on this exact subject and you SIR have done the best job so far explaining how to do it. appreciate your time. only question i have is the overhaul mods do they load differently? or do they load the same way? and again thanks so much for your attention to detail on how to do all this. it always seems like everyone misses showing a step on how to create a portion of do this this and i cant ever get it to work.
Thanks for the kind words. I get frustrated watching some tutorials on UA-cam, so I try to make it simple. As for the overall mods, they are basically a bunch of mods pre-packaged into one large mod that you install the same way. As there are so many mods running, it's not a good idea to add more. And definitely make a copy of the game files for the overhaul mods. The instructions on the overhaul page will point out any extra steps. And you can usually ask the creator questions if you get stuck. 👍
I’m a complete newbie to this. What happens if instead of creating a separate game folder, I mod the original game folder, but make a backup copy of the save folder before modding? The save files for me is found in a completely different place, under app data - common. I guess I’m asking, as long as I backup my save, if everything goes south, can I just redownload original game files, and paste backed up save folder?
Yes! You are correct. It's more about the main game files updating when you are halfway through a playthrough. If the mods aren't compatible with the new update, the files could be corrupted and you will lose that game. But worst case scenario you can just uninstall the game and re-install without the mods, so it's more of a convenience thing. Personally I only make copies because I may need to go back and record footage from games, and it's nice to have them separate from updates. Hope that helps 🧟♂️
Thank you for this video, Quick question, I have an existing game I'm playing. Am I able to install a mod to that playthru ? like I don't want to have to start from scratch. I have a lot of time in that playthru but would love some of those mods like being able to see food and health.
You are welcome Hitman 😊 I also had this question when I started mucking around with mods, and basically it depends what the mod changes. Usually if the mod adds something you can craft or changes a visual, you can just install the mod and it will work with any save you load. But other mods that affect the original world files won't show up until you Start another game. As your game save files are separate from the game files, worst case is the mod won't do anything until you start again. Just to make sure, always make copies of your save files as well as your game files just in case something happens. Copying your save files is easy and there are plenty of video tutorials here on the tube. Long story short, some will work, some won't haha.
@damnzambies Thanks !!!!! K Roy do appreciate the quick response and very thorough answer!!
Simply super well and informatively explained👌🏻😃👍🏻, thank you very much for that🫶🏻
That's super helpful man but i have a question so i installed few mods and created a new world and i want to invite my friends to my world do they have to download the mods that i have downloaded or no
Thanks mate 😁 Because these mods aren't server side only mods, I do believe they will have to have their own mod files. As these mods change the game files, it can be difficult to have everything working all the time, so to be sure I would say all players need the mod files. If it doesn't work then server side only mods may be easier. But they are more limited to the map and general game mechanics.
this works with server side mods too? meaning same process as if its client mods.
I'm not familiar with servers so I'm not the best to answer. But I have been told it's exactly the same yes. 👌 (Depending on your server setup)
Followed steps, but can't get any of the mods to work.
@@damnzambies copy, made the Mods folder and had vortex install into it, launch from the copy mode file, and it just stays on "Creating Player" with the logs showing of course, 4 of the mods method not found.
@@damnzambies Vortex is a mod installer, I deleted the mods that were red in the log and it loaded, I wanted the better UI one but it doesn't seem to be working.
Sounds like Vortex is messing up the files. Try a manual download then place the unzipped folders in the "Mods" folder in your game files. there should only be the mod folders in that folder.
► Then check that each mod folder contains the .xml file.
► Run the .exe file from the game folder.
If that doesn't work, i'm out of ideas without looking at the files.
How do I fix the fact that when I download a mod the XML File that is in the folder is a "microsoft XML" instead of a XML Document?
The mod should be a folder of files with an XML file inside it. It seems like you aren't downloading the entire folder 📂
@@damnzambies thanks. I got it fix. I think I had the mod launcher messed up because once I deleted that the mods worked just as you showed in the video!. Thanks again!
hello, i downloaded the mods into the Mods folder and unzipped them, but they do not appear in game. any ideas on how to fix this?
Hmmm. Where did you get the mods? Did you make the correct Mods folder? Do the files contain the .XML files? Did you leave the zipped files in the Mods folder? This link may help also. 7daystodiemods.com/how-to-install-7-days-to-die-mods/
I try this metod and the one making a moded copy of the game and just got one problem if i dont ad the mod directly to game i can't play with controller. After months playing i got a error when logging out no biggies just forced close the game. But last time i get in i got error getting in. So remove the mods and surprise lose my player stats and backpack. 😢
Bugger! This is the problem people need to be aware of. Mods effectively change the game code. And the people making them don't have access to all the additional resources that the game developers have. Things are bound to go wrong. Hopefully you didn't lose too much.
@damnzambies for my sake not much was lost that gameply was advanced already with gyro so I was satisfied. I started a new game with mods updated, game re downloaded, and a new random word
can we still play with friend without the eac ? or when we diseable it we can't play coop ?
Most mods require you to turn off the EAC regardless. That shouldn't affect multiplayer games 👍🧟♂️
@@damnzambies ok thx a lot ! And nice video easy and effective I like it !
If you play with friends on a server we rent, does everyone have to download the mods or just the server owner?
Depends on the mod. Some mods are server side, some are client side many are both.
All the mods you mentioned in the Must have mods, client or server side?@@damnzambies
Pretty sure they are all needed on both. But You need to check with the Mod Developers.
Im new to this game..It keeps on getting stuck on building environment, loading screen.. idk what's causing this...Any help pls?..
What mods do you have installed? And what kind of computer are you using?
@@damnzambies actually I found the problem, turns out it was one of the firearms mod, had to uninstalled it for me to play again..Thanks m8🙂👍🏻
Sweet! My next idea was to start taking the mods off one by one to find the one affecting the game. Nice work 👍
In steam, it's a bit different, no?
Steam will just open the same folder described in the video. So it's a good idea to know where the game folder is on your PC just in case you need to remove any mod that's causing issues. But it's essentially the same thing via a different path 👌👍👌
i take it the principle is the same with server side mods only?
Server side just means you only need the mod files on one computer for multiple players to use the mods. If you are only playing solo on one computer, they work exactly the same as regular mods. 👍 Is that what you are asking?
@@damnzambies Yes 😁 was just checking 🤔 been a while since i added mods. Finally jumping back and buddies designated me as server admin dude. So adding a few mods since they are all newbs
what about the server? i see a bunch of people saying it needs to be on both the client and server
Some do yes. That will depend on the mod. The mod information should explain that. 👍
Surely I made the record for the amount of times you can say "Mods" in a video 😂
Anybody else having a hard time or trouble downloading The Wasteland Mod? I know I am
Try the download link on the Guns Nerds and Steel wasteland videos. He has a separate package of all the mods he's using. And you can get the wasteland link from there. You may need other mods to run it though so check the mod page. 👍

This is fantastic. Thanks man. I’ve watched some “how to install mods” videos and always felt more intimidated after than I did going in.
This totally put me at ease. Especially the tip on creating a separate game file so I don’t accidentally blow up the original game files, creating a problem I don’t know how to fix.
Got my sub and thumbs up. 👍
My absolute pleasure! I'm glad to help. I was honestly surprised how easy modding 7 days to die is, and I agree, some tutorials are just painful. You are a legend 👌
