Working in the Netherlands | My Journey 🇳🇱

Welcome to my channel! In today's video, I'm sharing my experience working in the Netherlands. Transitioning from acting to the corporate world was challenging, but it taught me valuable lessons.
Crafting a resume as an actress with a business degree took time, but authenticity won out. Despite not being fluent in Dutch, I pursued English-speaking opportunities outside major cities.
A clothing store interview, despite initial nerves, emphasized the importance of authenticity in the hiring process. The power of language immersion at work significantly improved my Dutch skills.
My advice for fellow expats: don't hesitate! Embrace new experiences, meet new people, and be open to learning. Sometimes, a positive attitude can trump experience.
Starting small as a sales assistant in English allowed me to improve my language skills gradually. Learn the language and leverage your degree as you grow.
Working in the Netherlands was enriching. I met incredible people, learned about fashion, and grew both personally and professionally.

skills can be learned, a fitting personality not. That is what a lot of employers look for.
That is also how I got my current job, they were willing to invest time on me because they thought my attitude was a good fit for the role.

Hola Maribel, me alegra que hayas visto el video pues tú me diste la idea para hacerlo así que te agradezco mucho tu mensaje. Entiendo tu miedo, también he estado ahí, creo que lo más difícil de mudarte a un nuevo país es que tienes que reinventarte y eso también implica qué tal vez lo que hayas estudiado o a lo que te hayas dedicado años anteriores tengas que dejarlo atrás para empezar una nueva vida aquí. Tal vez y es una pausa nada más y mientras te adaptas a este país aprende el idioma, se que no es fácil pero es lo único que va a hacer que puedas trabajar en lo que hayas estudiado. No te desanimes, al principio es difícil pero te prometo que poco a poco encontrarás tu lugar en este país y te llegarás a sentir en casa ❤
