In all the detail of promised destruction, anguish, and retribution, it’s good to see what God says about Himself. He is the protector of orphans and defender of widows (Jer 49:11). That stands out in the middle of God taking down empires, that He defines Himself by caring for the most vulnerable. He can defend the weak, because He is powerful like “a lion in the thicket” who cannot be opposed (Jer 49:19). He restores the undeserving (Jer 49:39)-like me-and He forgives, so much so that “no sin will be found” in His people (Jer 50:20). Isn’t that odd? His forgiveness means that “no sin will be found” in me-even though He knows I’m a saint who sins. But He says, “You are Mine, you are vulnerable and I’ll protect you, because I am forgiving and am the strong Lion of Judah.”
Very well said as always Don.
Thank You for being our righteousness Jesus! Thank You for the obedience of the Cross, taking the wrath that we so rightfully deserved. I pray that we will present our own bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is our reasonable act of worship. You deserve all praise honor and glory FOREVER🙌🏽🙌🏽🙏🏾❤️
Amen
AMEN❣️
Amen!
Amen 🙏
Jeremiah continues to speak to the nations. It definitely is wise for believers today to take heed of what is happening around us in the world. God is speaking and looking for those who will repent and seek His face. We must be careful not to be boastful. We can not trust in treasures or say things like, ‘Who will come against me?’ (Jeremiah 49:4). Everything in this world will pass away, but God's word stands forever (Isaiah 40: 8). Just like Israel and Judah, many are wandering through this life like lost sheep. But, God will allow disaster for the purpose of bringing people to a place of weeping so that they turn back to the Lord (Jeremiah 50: 4-6). Do your work in the earth, Lord God 🙏🏽.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for drinking the cup of wrath, so that we didn't have to. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6: 23), but You took the punishment that we deserved so that in You, we can have forgiveness of our sins. Praise Your Holy name!
Jesus drank the cup that we deserved. That is so overwhelming.
We don't understand God's ways. I don't think we are supposed to understand why He does what He does. I am just happy He sent Jesus to take my sins. I am reminded that my sin sent Him to the cross. That is too much for me to absorb!
There's just a lot to say about today's reading:
- The mercy God extended to some nations,
- The fact that Babylon gets judged for their deeds to the Israelites,
- The outright slate cleansing of the Israelites sin,
- The reminder that we're ambassador sent to nations,
- The reminder to be humble, realising that pride is a sin.
Like someone said yesterday, the judgment on the nations are just evidence of what God told Abraham "He'll bless them that bless Israel & curse them that curse Israel" (Genesis 12:3). God is a merciful & just God and what He does/how He judges is just.
Jer 50:34, "Yet their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is his name. He will vigorously defend their cause"...
Eerily amazing how God’s words are true today: Babylon still lies desolate, and He has brought His people back, and someday, the New Heaven will descend there upon the New Earth, and we will see His face and all will be reconciled to Christ.
How do you know the new heaven will descend upon where ancient Babylon was, on the new earth? Did I read that right?
Look at how many times, God pardons and restores His enemies. Who else is like this?!
““But afterward I will restore the fortunes of the Ammonites, declares the Lord.””
Jeremiah 49:6
““But in the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares the Lord.””
Jeremiah 49:39
“In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, iniquity shall be sought in Israel, and there shall be none, and sin in Judah, and none shall be found, for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.”
Jeremiah 50:20
**This causes me to think deeply**
The people( and us ) are to blame when we get lost. Why? Because we have sinned against the Lord, left our habitation( where we dwell and live ) of righteousness, our hope.
Yet God is WILLING and WAITING for His children to come back to Him,
““My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray, turning them away on the mountains. From mountain to hill they have gone. They have forgotten their fold. All who found them have devoured them, and their enemies have said, ‘We are not guilty, for they have sinned against the Lord, their habitation of righteousness, the Lord, the hope of their fathers.’”
Jeremiah 50:6-7
Yes! I saw same thing in chapter 49 and then saw your post to see chapter 50 as well. God is always forgiving us all.
@@TheSteveBOliver yes! He is so very kind and forgiving.
God is full of mercy, love and grace 🙏
I love our Savior and how He takes care of the widows and children of the un-chosen and chosen alike. That speaks to His character and kindness. Praise Him.
Praise God. Amen 🙏
He is the watchman over our lives and over his creation.
Romans 8:28,29
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
"A drought against her waters, that they may be dried up! For it is a land of images, and they are mad over idols."
What's so cool about Jeremiah 50:38 ((spoiler alert!)) is that's exactly how Babylon will be conquered about 70 years later. Cyrus will dry up the Euphrates River - divert the flow into canals - and come in under the wall. 😃 Mind blown! God knows the future!
God judges Moab in chapter 48, but ends with the hope of restoration. He is a God of restoration. I pray for the restoration of my family members to Him and each other. 🙏🏽
Amen! Yes I too pray for my family and friends who don't know Jesus to have a relationship with Him that is real and personal!
@@Monke-y1v 🙏🏽
The Lord is our only hope just as He was the hope of the fathers of His people (Jer 50:7) and He is a forgiving God (Jer 50:20). May I and my family see Him as our only hope and as a forgiving God. I pray any lies my family is believing about Him will be replaced with truth! 🙏🏽
Could the reason for restoration of Moab & Ammon be because they were the descendants of Lot? ( Genesis 19:37-38)
That's interesting! Good point. What about Elam?
Elam - descendants of Shem who battled against Sodom, Gomorrah, etc and took Lot prisoner (Gen. 14:1-16); heads of families in the return from exile (Ezra) and represented at the Pentacost feast in Acts 2:9.
Aloha, praise the Lord, and good morning BR family. God paid the ultimate price for us and pardon our sins. 1 John 4:19, We love because he first loved us. I give the glory and honor to God every day, all day because he is my rock and my salvation. He is where the JOY is!!!
My Godshot was in 50:7. NLT says ...."the LORD, their place of rest".... and ESV says ...."the LORD, their habitation of righteousness"....
We can rest and be at peace because we dwell in Christ's righteousness.
The grace and forgiveness of God are 'priceless' gifts that we don't deserve. May we acknowledge the sacrifice of God the Son as He shed his blood for us and live with grateful hearts. Amen
That was so deep what you said about common grace. I really enjoyed Chapter 50 verse 20 as well.
Thanks TLC 💯❤ He's where the Joy is bible Family 🙌🏾❤️
Here's My God shot:
Jeremiah 50:34 KJV
[34] Their Redeemer is strong; The LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Ammon and Moab are the same relation to Israel. Both descend from Lot through his daughters who got pregnant by him. I wonder if this accounts for the similar treatment here.
Also, rain falling on the just and the unjust still sounds like blessing if you're a farmer.
I hope this gets back to the producers, but the reason God says he will restore Moab and Ammon is because these are the offspring of Lot from Genesis 19. It's an ugly story, but they are also part of His promise.
I need the Bible recap here, because i just see the words : disaster, terror, fire, destroy....."
"Holy Spirit, open my eyes"
Good evening bible Family and thanks TLC for your recap of God's word ❤❤❤ I'm thankful that His mercy is New every morning 🙏🙏 Hope you have had a blessed day in His Presence ❤️🙏 He is where the joy is ❤️🙏
Hey Bible Readers!
Ecclesiastes 1:9-The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. America is Babylon.
Speaking of Babylon: “It shall be inhabited no more forever, Nor shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah And their neighbors, says the Lord, “So no one shall reside there, Nor son of man dwell in it.”
Babylon is overthrown and becomes the least!
Babylon is also a type of the entire world system as per the book of Revelation. Exciting stuff!
God thank you for pardoning my sins. You are where the joy is 🫶🏽🙏🏽
Amen
Amen Tara-Leigh Cobble!
Wow your videos are incredible thank you!
My Godshot was the judgment against Babylon…a reminder to me that all the power structures in this world that are controlled by the god of this age must ultimately bow to the authority of one true God. They won’t all last forever!
GOD BLESS YOU TLC
What a loving forgiveing God we have. God promised restoration. He promised to spare a remnant. God forgave His people and sent a Savior. God always does as He says. We do not always know the details, we dont have all the answers, but God does and He fulfills. He brings justice and protects His chosen people and the the weak.
Jeremiah 50:20 NIV
"In those days, at that time,” declares the Lord, “search will be made for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for the sins of Judah, but none will be found, for I will forgive the remnant I spare."
Maybe God will restore fortune of Elam because Cyrus let people go to rebuild temple and wall. Susa was capital of Elam. God is alive and well in Iran( Persia)
God, thank You for Jesus; I am pardoned for Jesus has paid the price; I am righteous. Amen ✝️✝️🙌
