Funnily enough, my favorite Jeni’s flavor is the nondairy lemon bar! I’m in CA and I’ve never seen a Jenni’s ice cream shop but I’ve been buying the pints from the grocery store for a couple years now and they’re so good
Fun murder mysteries, though not as tongue in cheek unfortunately, that come to mind are The Thursday Murder Club (obvs), Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, and The Marlow Murder Club
My best book for this Summerween was Slewfoot by Brom (which I believe you had mentioned is one of your favs) and my least favorite was The God and the Gumiho (but I honestly still had a really good time with it. And I LOVE lavender and rose flavored ice creams. So so good.
I never ate lavender ice cream, so now I’m tell curious how it taste 🤔 I added final girls to my tbr immediately! I think you definitely completed the bingo board! 🎃
woooo i'm glad the book i suggested saved a lot of the prompts!! i agree it's hard to rate middle grade horror! I read "Into the Drowning Deep" by Mira Grant last year and it was weeeeird lol i may have to try Final Girls if you liked it that much!! my fave book from this Summerween was "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", my first Lovecraft read! and least fave was probably "Lure" by Tim McGregor, it just wasn't my type of book writing-wise but the vibes were there.
Middle grade horror feels very close to cozy horror to me. Bonus points for me being a middle school teacher, so I get to read tons of it. YA horror, however? It’s always terrible and strange.
Oh, I would love to read some middle grade horror/ dark books. I absolutely love middle grade vibes and mixed in with some spooky vibes? Yes please! I need recommendations!! Also, Horror movie and Final girls has now entered by TBR mountain!🫡 And the lemon bar looks so good!! Recipe pherhaps?🤍
I loved Into the Drowning Deep so worth a read if you love their horror stories.
If you ever come to Kansas City, our local ice cream shop, Betty Rae’s, has a signature flavor Lavender Honey that is so delicious.
Ooo that sounds amazing
Fave Summerween books: Last Tale of The Flower Bride & We Have Always Lived in The Castle 🎃🤍🌿
I had no idea Seanan McGuire had a horror pen name! I will absolutely be checking those works out. 💗
I LOVE Colin Meloy- he's also the lead singer of The Decemberists and his wife illustrates his books :)
wow what a talented family!
